Scientists have been trying to confirm the existence of gravitational waves for fifty years. Razvoj enzimske aktivnosti zrna ječma tijekom procesa slađenja je jedno od ključnih zbivanja kojom se osigurava zadovoljavajuća tehnološka kvaliteta slada. Brojna istraživanja su provedena na ovu ...temu kojima je ustanovljeno da se najbolji rezultati vezani za razvoj enzimskog potencijala zrna osiguravaju slađenjem namjenskih, jarih, dvoredih pivarskih sorti uz odgovarajući režim slađenja kojim se osiguravaju procesni uvjeti koji pogoduju aktiviranju već u zrnu prisutnih i/ili de novo sintezi enzima. Cilj ovog istraživanja bilo je ustanoviti kako s obzirom na gore postavljene zahtjeve reagiraju različite namjenske, dvorede, jare i ozime sorte ječma koje se uobičajeno koriste za proizvodnju slada u Hrvatskoj. Temeljem dobivenih rezultata ustanovljeno je aktivnost α-amilaze u svim ispitivanim sortama bila je unutar, dok je aktivnost β-amilaze u sve tri sorte bila je viša od standardnih vrjednosti za svijetli slad. Oba enzima su pokazala najvišu aktivnost zadnjeg, četvrtog dana klijanja. Proces sušenja slada značajno više smanjuje aktivnost β-amilaze (25-30%) nego α-amilaze (oko 10%). Utvrđivani su i ostali pokazatelji kvalitete polaznih ječmova, procesa mikroslađenja i gotovih sladova. Ustanovljeno je da sve tri sorte daju svijetli pivarski slad vrlo dobre kvalitete. Neki pokazatelji kvalitete slada poput topljivog dušika u sladovini i viskoznosti su imali izvrsne vrijednosti, najproblematičniji pokazatelj je bila fiabilnost. Međutim, kako je friabilnost kumulativni pokazetelj na koji utječu brojni pojedinačni faktori ovo zahtijeva dodatna istraživanja.
The development of enzymatic activity of barley grains during the malting process is one of the key developments which ensures satisfactory technological quality of malt. Numerous studies have been conducted on this topic, which found that the best results related to the development of enzymatic potential of grain are a result of malting purpose, spring, two-row brewing varieties. The application of appropriate malting regime that ensures process conditions favaurable for te activation of already present in the grain and/or de novo synthesis enzymes are also an important factor. The aim of this research
was to establish how different purpose, two - row, spring and winter varieties of barley, which are commonly used for malt production in Croatia, react to the above requirements. Based on the obtained results,
the α-amylase activity in all examined cultivars was found to be within
the standard values, while the β-amylase activity in all three cultivars was higher than the standard values for light malt. Both enzymes showed the highest activity on the last, fourth day of germination. The malt drying process significantly reduced β-amylase activity (25- 30%), in comparison to the activity of α-amylase (about 10%). Other indicators of the quality of starting barley, micromalting process and finished malts were also determined. It was found that all three varieties give light malt approprite for malting, reulting with malt of very good quality. Some malt quality indicators such as soluble nitrogen in wort and viscosity had excellent values, and the most problematic indicator was fiability. However, as friability is a cumulative indicator affected by a number of individual factors this requires further research.

Nonetheless, ...there are challenging problems for both of them in the literature. Pritchard holds that his anti-luck virtue epistemology puts together the correct intuitions from both anti-luck epistemology and virtue epistemology and avoids their problems. Contra Pritchard, we believe that there is already a satisfactory theory on offer, namely, the defeasibility theory of knowledge. In this essay we intend (i) to examine Pritchard’s anti-luck virtue epistemology, and (ii) to defend the defeasibility theory of knowledge as an alternative to Pritchard’s theory. We will provide the reader with reasons for believing that the defeasibility theory is better than Pritchard’s theory because the former is more economic and more ecumenical than the latter, since it goes without non-epistemic notions and remains neutral as for the internalism vs. externalism debate.

Red clover is a perennial forage crop rich in isoflavones, the bioactive compounds with a positive effect on human and animal health. The aim of the research was to determine a variation in the ...isoflavone contents in the Croatian red clover collection and to identify the most promising materials to be used in the breeding program for the development of new cultivars for specific purposes. Leaf samples of 29 red clover cultivars/populations (two cultivars, twenty breeding populations, and seven local populations) were collected in a full flowering stage, and the identification and quantification of isoflavones was performed using the HPLC analysis. The most common isoflavones in the red clover cultivars/populations were formononetin and biochanin A. A significant variation among the cultivars/populations in the total and individual isoflavone content was determined. The populations with very high and low contents of both the total and of the individual isoflavones were identified to be used for the breeding purposes in order to develop new forage cultivars, or for specific goals in the pharmaceutical industry.
Crvena djetelina višegodišnja je krmna kultura bogata izoflavonima, bioaktivnim spojevima s pozitivnim utjecajem na zdravlje ljudi i životinja. Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi varijabilnost sadržaja izoflavona hrvatske kolekcije crvene djeteline te identificirati najzanimljivije materijale koji će se koristiti u oplemenjivačkome programu za razvoj novih sorata za specifične namjene. Uzorci lista prikupljeni su u stadiju pune cvatnje iz 29 sorata/populacija crvene djeteline (dvije sorte, dvadeset oplemenjivačkih populacija, sedam lokalnih populacija), a identifikacija i kvantifikacija izoflavona obavljena je pomoću HPLC analize. Najzastupljeniji izoflavoni u sortama/populacijama crvene djeteline bili su formononetin i biohanin A. Utvrđena je značajna varijabilnost među sortama/populacijama u sadržaju ukupnih i individualnih izoflavona. Identificirane su populacije s vrlo visokim i niskim sadržajem kako ukupnih, tako i pojedinačnih izoflavona koje će se koristiti u oplemenjivačke svrhe za razvoj novih krmnih kultivara ili za specifične namjene u farmaceutskoj industriji.
Istraživanje vegetativne razvijenosti i rodnosti sorti lijeske provedena su u dva pokusan voćnjaka u Istri. U prvom pokusnom voćnjaku istraživanja su obuhvatila sorte: Fertile de Coutard, Cosford, ...Gunslebert, Istarski duguljasti, Merveille de Bollwiller, Magonca i Tonda Gentile Romana na podlozi Corylus colurna, a uzgojene u obliku stabla s krošnjom u obliku vaze. Razmak sadnje je 5 x 5 m (400 stabala/ha). Sve su sorte postigle dobru vegetativnu razvijenost na kraju 6. vegetacije. Veću bujnost od ostalih 6 sorti, postigla je sorta Fertile de Coutard. Razlika je visoko signifikantna. Podjednaku vegetativnu razvijenost postigle su ostalih 6 sorti. Najveći prirod postigla je sorta Cosford, a slijede je Fertile de Coutard, Istarski duguljasti, Tonda Romana, Magonca i Gunslebert, a najmanji sorta Merveille de Bollwiller. U drugom pokusnom voćnjaku, istraživana je vegetativna razvijenost i rodnost sorti: Istarski duguljasti, Tonda Gentile Romana i Fertile de Coutard uzgojene na vlastitom korijenu u obliku grmolike vaze s razmakom 4,5 x 4,5 m (493 stabla/ha). Na kraju 6. vegetacije sve su sorte postigle dobru razvijenost. Veću bujnost od sorte Istarski duguljasti postigle su sorte Fertile de Coutard i Tonda Gentile Romana. Podjednak prirod utvrđen je za sorte na vlastitom korijenu. Usporedbom vegetativne razvijenosti stabala na vlastitom korijenu i podlozi Corylus colurna utvrđeno je da su sve tri sorte na podlozi Corylus colurna postigle znatno veću bujnost. Usporedbom rodnosti sorti Istarski duguljasti, Tonda Romana i Fertile de Coutard na vlastitom korijenu i istih sorti na podlozi Corylus colurna ustanovljeno je da su sve 3 sorte dale znatno veći prirod na podlozi Corylus colurna. Istraživanja su obuhvatila utjecaj podloge na kemijski sastav lišća sorti: Fertile de Coutard, Istarski duguljasti i Tonda Gentile Romana. Provedena je analiza uzroka prijevremenog opadanja plodova.
