We have developed a clinically validated NGS assay that includes tumor, germline and RNA sequencing. We apply this assay to clinical specimens and cell lines, and we demonstrate a clinical ...sensitivity of 98.4% and positive predictive value of 100% for the clinically actionable variants measured by the assay. We also demonstrate highly accurate copy number measurements and gene rearrangement identification.
Using histological cross‐sections, the chondrocranium anatomy was reconstructed for two developmental stages of Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni). The morphology differs from the chondrocrania of ...most other turtles by a process above the ectochoanal cartilage with Pelodiscus sinensis being the only other known species with such a structure. The anterior and posterior processes of the tectum synoticum are better developed than in most other turtles and an ascending process of the palatoquadrate is missing, which is otherwise only the case in pleurodiran turtles. The nasal region gets proportionally larger during development. We interpret the enlargement of the nasal capsules as an adaption to increase the surface area of the olfactory epithelium for better perception of volant odors. Elongation of the nasal capsules in trionychids, in contrast, is unlikely to be related to olfaction, while it is ambiguous in the case of Sternotherus odoratus. However, we have to conclude that research on chondrocranium anatomy is still at its beginning and more comprehensive detailed descriptions in relation to other parts of the anatomy are needed before providing broad‐scale ecological and phylogenetic interpretations.
Histology‐based 3D reconstructions of the chondrocrania (blue), palatoquadrates (purple), and columellae (yellow) of a younger (top) and an older (below) specimen of Hermann's tortoise, Testudo hermanni (Testudines), in ventral views. The first vertebra (green) is partially reconstructed. Based on Figure 3.
Higher Education reform and modernization processes in Serbia were initiated by the overall 'Europe of knowledge' project, which encompassed Bologna and Lisbon declarations aiming to enroll Western ...Balkan countries into unique European Higher Education Area. By the adoption of the Law on Higher Education in 2005, these processes obtained their legal ground in Serbia and regulated implementation of the principles of both declarations, while Tempus (Trans-European Mobility Programme for University Studies) as the European Union programme for reform and modernization of Higher Education additionally supported internationalization of Higher Education Institutions in Serbia and harmonization of their curricula with highest European educational standards. This essay gives an overview on development of Tempus programme at the University Pristina temporarily settled in Kosovska Mitrovica since 2009, when the university for the first time applied for this kind of donation until its official closure and completion of implementation of all its projects where university was involved.
Based on histological cross-sections, the chondrocranium of the common musk turtle (Sternotherus odoratus) was reconstructed, described, and compared with other turtles. It differs from that of other ...turtle chondrocrania by possessing elongated, slightly dorsally orientated nasal capsules with three dorsolateral foramina, which might be homologous to the foramen epiphaniale, and by having an enlarged crista parotica. Additionally, the posterior part of the palatoquadrate is more elongated and more slender than in other turtles, while its ascending process is connected to the otic capsule by appositional bone. The proportions of the chondrocranium were also compared with those of "mature" chondrocrania of other turtle species in a Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Other than expected, the S. odoratus chondrocranium is not similar in proportions to those of chelydrids, the closest related species in the sample. The results indicate to differences in the proportions among larger turtle clades (e.g., Durocryptodira, Pleurodira, and Trionychia). S. odoratus is an exception to this pattern since it shows elongated nasal capsules similar to the trionychid Pelodiscus sinensis. A second PCA comparing the chondrocranial proportions of multiple developmental "stages" mostly shows differences between trionychids and all other turtles. S. odoratus is again similar to trionychids along PC1, but its proportions are the most similar along PC2 and PC3 to older "stages" of americhelydians, including the chelydrid Chelydra serpentina, which is related to chondrocranium height and quadrate width. We discuss potential ecological correlations of our findings mirrored in late embryonic stages.

Functional food science has witnessed remarkable advancements in recent years, driven by our evolving understanding of quantum mechanics and the concept of time. The interplay between these two ...theories, namely the Quantum theory and the Tempus theory, has opened new avenues for research and innovation in functional food. Functional food science integrates these theories to better understand the complex relationship between food, chronic disease, and health. Quantum theory explores the molecular-level interplay between energy, matter, and bioactive compounds in functional foods, optimizing their development and utilization for chronic disease and health. The Tempus theory emphasizes timed consumption, aligning functional foods with circadian rhythms and metabolic processes for enhanced nutrient absorption, utilization, and metabolic responses. By synchronizing food intake with the body's natural rhythms, the Tempus theory enhances the efficacy of functional foods in promoting health and preventing disease. Integrating the quantum and tempus theories in functional food science provides a comprehensive approach to understanding and utilizing the potential of functional foods for personalized nutritional interventions and improving overall well-being.Keywords: functional food science, Quantum theory, Tempus theory, bioactive compounds, cellular interactions, timing, health promotion, personalized nutrition.
In this case report, we describe a patient who developed metastatic liver cancer of unknown primary origin one year following the surgical removal of a retroperitoneal adenocarcinoma. The ...retroperitoneal adenocarcinoma is considered a malignant transformation of teratoma (MTT), given the patient's distant history of testicular tumor excised 25 years prior and treated with chemotherapy. Despite no primary tumor being identified, the leading primary hypothesis is that the liver metastasis stemmed from the resected retroperitoneal adenocarcinoma from one year prior. We theorize that the patient's cisplatin-based chemotherapy 25 years ago may have triggered the MTT, as documented in the existing literature. Using TEMPUS gene testing on both the retroperitoneal adenocarcinoma and the recently discovered liver metastasis, we identified several genes with variants of unknown significance (VUS) that could potentially be linked to cisplatin chemotherapy resistance. While we cannot conclude that this patient definitively underwent MTT, it remains the most plausible explanation. Future research should investigate both the validity of the genes we have uncovered with respect to cisplatin resistance, as well as other genes associated with cisplatin resistance to further understand the pathogenesis of cisplatin resistance for better prediction of treatment response. As the world of medicine shifts towards individualized therapies and precision medicine, reporting and analyzing genetic mutations derived from tumors remains imperative. Our case report aims to contribute to the growing database of defined mutations and underscores the immense potential of genetic analysis in directing personalized treatment options.
