Frailty predisposes older persons to adverse events, and information and communication technologies can play a crucial role to prevent them. CAPACITY provides a means to remotely monitor variables ...with high predictive power for adverse events, enabling preventative personalized early interventions. This study aims at evaluating the usability, user experience, and acceptance of a novel mobile system to prevent disability. Usability was assessed using the system usability scale (SUS); user experience using the user experience questionnaire (UEQ); and acceptance with the technology acceptance model (TAM) and a customized quantitative questionnaire. Data were collected at baseline (recruitment), and after three and six months of use. Forty-six participants used CAPACITY for six months; nine dropped out, leaving a final sample of 37 subjects. SUS reached a maximum averaged value of 83.68 after six months of use; no statistically significant values have been found to demonstrate that usability improves with use, probably because of a ceiling effect. UEQ, obtained averages scores higher or very close to 2 in all categories. TAM reached a maximum of 51.54 points, showing an improvement trend. Results indicate the success of the participatory methodology, and support user centered design as a key methodology to design technologies for frail older persons. Involving potential end users and giving them voice during the design stage maximizes usability and acceptance.
While studies have documented delays in breast cancer (BC) care during the COVID-19 pandemic due to healthcare restrictions, there have been no studies on the experiences, and, particularly, the ...challenges with providing care faced by breast surgeons during this unprecedented time. This paper aims to understand the perspectives of breast surgeons regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BC care.
We used purposeful and snowball sampling to identify breast surgeons in Ontario, Canada. One-on-one qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted exploring the impact of the pandemic on BC treatment, psychosocial well-being of patients and providers, and the future state of BC care. Audio-recorded interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using Thematic Analysis.
A total of 10 breast surgeons (5 community and 5 academic) were interviewed. Breast surgeons reported that the pandemic led to increased multidisciplinary collaboration and innovations in delivery of BC surgery (e.g., increased use of regional anesthesia). Multiple surgeons identified that the pandemic created disparities in BC care based geographic location and that existing disparities in care based on ethnicity or marginalization were exacerbated. Last, surgeons identified that virtual care improved, but also created some challenges to how BC care was delivered, with many hoping for this to be continued after the pandemic was over.
In this study, breast surgeons identified unique challenges and solutions to BC care delivery during the pandemic. Concerns regarding disparities in care based on geographic location and marginalized patients require further study to improve future BC care.
This study examines the lived experience of breast surgeons and the perceived barriers and facilitators to breast cancer care during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of lessons were identified, including exacerbation of existing healthcare inequities and limitations in virtual care, which may be transferable to resource limited settings and future pandemic planning.
To provide intelligent and personalized services on smart devices, machine learning techniques have been widely used to learn from data, identify patterns, and make automated decisions. Machine ...learning processes typically require a large amount of representative data that are often collected through crowdsourcing from end users. However, user data could be sensitive in nature, and training machine learning models on these data may expose sensitive information of users, violating their privacy. Moreover, to meet the increasing demand of personalized services, these learned models should capture their individual characteristics. This article proposes a privacy-preserving approach for learning effective personalized models on distributed user data while guaranteeing the differential privacy of user data. Practical issues in a distributed learning system such as user heterogeneity are considered in the proposed approach. In addition, the convergence property and privacy guarantee of the proposed approach are rigorously analyzed. The experimental results on realistic mobile sensing data demonstrate that the proposed approach is robust to user heterogeneity and offers a good tradeoff between accuracy and privacy.

The advent of new information technology has radically changed the end-user computing environment over the past decade. To enhance their management decision-making capability, many organizations have made significant investments in business intelligence (BI) systems. The realization of business benefits from BI investments depends on supporting effective use of BI systems and satisfying their end user requirements. Even though a lot of attention has been paid to the decision-making benefits of BI systems in practice, there is still a limited amount of empirical research that explores the nature of end-user satisfaction with BI systems. End-user satisfaction and system usage have been recognized by many researchers as critical determinants of the success of information systems (IS). As an increasing number of companies have adopted BI systems, there is a need to understand their impact on an individual end-user's performance. In recent years, researchers have considered assessing individual performance effects from IS use as a key area of concern. Therefore, this study aims to empirically test a framework identifying the relationships between end-user computing satisfaction (EUCS), system usage, and individual performance. Data gathered from 330 end users of BI systems in the Taiwanese electronics industry were used to test the relationships proposed in the framework using the structural equation modeling approach. The results provide strong support for our model. Our results indicate that higher levels of EUCS can lead to increased BI system usage and improved individual performance, and that higher levels of BI system usage will lead to higher levels of individual performance. In addition, this study's findings, consistent with DeLone and McLean's IS success model, confirm that there exists a significant positive relationship between EUCS and system usage. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

Purpose
With the rapid development and implementation of cutting-edge information technologies in tourism and hospitality, it is necessary to update the progress of technology use in the past 18 ...years and set up research agenda for future research. By adopting information systems (IS) as a reference discipline, this paper aims to create a literature review of technology and tourism papers around the theme of use.
Design/methodology/approach
Following the systematic literature review process of Aguinis et al. (2018), 314 papers were downloaded to determine how they applied the concept of technology use.
Findings
Three themes about technology use emerged: types of processing, organisational use and users. Among various types of technology processing, interactive and online are largely addressed in the tourism and hospitality literature. The organisational use theme explores how the competitive and strategic use of technology provides management support for organisations. There was a large amount of research focussed on direct users, such as individual characteristics, user attitudes and user behaviour. The theories of technology acceptance model and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology have been widely applied in these studies.
Originality/value
This paper provides a review of key issues which has been discussed in tourism research in relation to technology use. By applying the scheme developed in the IS discipline, this study provides new insights into the development of technology in tourism. In addition, it also gives us the opportunity to suggest a research agenda by identifying research gaps and future research collaboration opportunities between these two fields.

Mobile banking (m-banking) is an expanding application of mobile commerce that has claimed the attention and interest of e-commerce researchers. One of the most welcome recent developments in ...m-banking has been the growing interest in end-user use, user satisfaction, and individual performance. We propose a model combining the DeLone & McLean IS success model and the Task Technology Fit (TTF) model to evaluate the impact of m-banking on individual performance. The empirical approach is based on an online survey questionnaire of 233 individuals. The results reveal that use and user satisfaction are important precedents of individual performance, and the importance of the moderating effects of TTF over usage to individual performance. The system quality, information quality, and service quality positively affect user satisfaction. Understanding the significance of m-banking context on individual performance is useful to provide new insight to m-banking managers to apply strategies to retain users or even attract potential adopters. We provide the theoretical and practical implications of our findings.

Benefits for all user groups is one of the most prominent motivations to provide accessible information and services on the web. Designing digital technologies in a more inclusive manner for users ...with sensory, motor, or cognitive impairments enhances their overall quality. In practice, work on web accessibility often relies on complying with standards. But whether standards lead to improved usability and a satisfying user experience for all user groups is controversial. The present study aims at deepening our understanding of how compliance with web accessibility standards shapes the experiences of both users with and without disabilities. In a randomised controlled experiment, 66 participants with visual impairments and 65 participants without visual impairments solved tasks on an online shop built with either low (NA) or high (AA) conformance to web accessibility standards. The results show no statistically significant effects on outcomes related to usability and user experience. However, analysis of open-ended answers suggests that participants with visual impairments reported more positive experiences, and participants without visual impairments fewer negative experiences while using the online shop conformant to web accessibility standards. We therefore recommend adopting a more differentiated perspective on what can be achieved through compliance with web accessibility standards and emphasise that conformance-based approaches should be complemented with user-centred and participatory design methods. Further, since most participants reported being experienced users and an online shop is often a familiar context, more research in other settings is required.
