In brilliantly reinterpreting two of Lope de Vega's plays, long regarded as conventional royalist propaganda, Forcione places his texts in the context of political and institutional history, philosophy, theology, and art history. In so doing he shows how Spanish theater anticipated the decisive changes in human consciousness that characterized the ascendance of the absolutist state and its threat to the cultivation of individuality, authenticity, and humanity.
Se analiza la violencia existente en El pastor de Iberia (1591) de Bernardo de la Vega, atendiendo a las dos manifestaciones en que se presenta y desarrolla este impulso destructor: como violencia ...fisica que aniquila tanto a los personajes como al espacio en que estos habitan y tambien en una vertiente discursiva que atenta contra el lenguaje topico del genero pastoril. This article analyzes the existing violence in El pastor de Iberia (1591) by Bernardo de la Vega attending to the two manifestations in which this destructive impulse is presented and developed: as physical violence that annihilates both the characters and the space they inhabit, and also in a discursive aspect that attacks the topical language of the pastoral genre. Este trabajo analiza la funcion de los cuatro relatos del Antiguo Testamento reescritos por Lope de Vega en el libro primero de Los pastores de Belen: la violacion de Dina por Siquem, la historia de ...David y Betsabe, la violacion de Tamar por Amnon y la historia de Susana y los jueces. Se concluye que el autor plantea un itinerario de lectura que parte del pecado, que simboliza a una humanidad en ruinas, y que culmina con un anticipo de la llegada del Mesias. Las cuatro historias interpoladas, leidas en conjunto, sirven para interpretar el tema principal de los Pastores de Belen, pero pueden entenderse tambien en clave biografica, dentro del ciclo de arrepentimiento de Lope. This paper analyses the function of the four Old Testament stories rewritten by Lope de Vega in the first book of Pastores de Belen: the rape of Dinah by Shechem, the story of David and Bathsheba, the rape of Tamar by Amnon and the story of Susanna and the judges. I propose reading the text via an itinerary beginning with sin, which symbolizes a humanity in ruins, and that culminates with the anticipation of the coming of the Messiah. The four interpolated stories, read together, serve to interpret the main theme of Pastores de Belen, but they can also be understood in a biographical sense, as part of Lope's cycle of repentance. Objective: Ayurveda the primitive and preventative science elucidated adharneeya (nonsuppressible) Vega (natural urges) to prevent and restrain diseases. Vega plays a major role in the proper ...functioning of the body. They are regulated mainly by Vata with the support of other subtype of dosha and the controlled and guided activities of mind. Vega Dharana is considered as the contributory cause of many chronic diseases and acute physiological conditions. Data Source: Classical Ayurvedic texts along Charka are searched to interpret the Ayurvedic physiology of each Vega. Review Methods: Both Ayurveda and modern recent researches on natural Vega, and their therapeutic significance is explored through electronic search. Result: Understanding the physiology of Adharneeya Vega is crucial for the etiopathogenesis of their consequences and other related diseases described by Ayurveda classics. Conclusion: In the present article, an attempt has been made to explore the concept of adharaneeya Vega mentioned in Charaka samhita with contemporary relevance in clinical Ayurveda practice and thereby aid in health promotion and also as a preventive tool.
Los libros de caballería fue uno de los géneros literarios más difundidos en el imperio español durante el siglo XVI e inicios del siglo XVII. A pesar de que se ha escrito que circularon y fueron ...leídos en el virreinato peruano, las evidencias documentales al respecto resultan insuficientes. En esta nota problematizo ambos aspectos a partir de la bibliografía existente y las fuentes documentales. Palabras clave: libros de caballería, lectores, cultura letrada, virreinato peruano, conquistadores españoles Chivalry books were one of the most widespread literary genres in the Spanish Empire during the Sixteenth and early Seventeenth centuries. Although it has been written that they circulated and read in the Peruvian viceroyalty, the documentary evidence in this regard is insufficient. Este ensayo se ocupa de una escritura cuyo devenir se desdobla e interviene otros textos desde la inmediatez de la columna periodistica en 1955; de la edicion de las Memorias de Bernardo Vega en ...1977; de su traduccion al ingles en 1984; del Manuscrito rescatado en 2011, y de su conversion a documento digital en 2022. Las siguientes preguntas lo orientan: ?Como fundar y legitimar un archivo alterno? ?Como narrarlo, en que lengua, con que tonos? ?Como afectan los contextos? ?Que dialogo sostendria con comunidades que ya no se circunscriben a las fronteras y circuitos trazados por Vega? Memorias aparece como un acontecimiento con renovado potencial de transformar tanto la historia--al integrar la experiencia inmigrante--como la literatura y sus convenciones reconocibles de genero y autoria mediante una escritura singular y, a la vez, compartida. De esa manera, se alteran los procesos de la memoria en varios relatos que adquieren su propia autonomia. Palabras clave: memoria, escritura alternativa, experiencia de inmigracion

Lope de Vega's lyrical career has been studied through different authorial masks that the poet adopts according to times and interests. Showing off the nickname by which he was known in life, the ...Phoenix reinvents himself and succeeds himself: poet of ballads, poet of Petrarchan songbooks, sacred, courtier, and even burlesque. Of all of them, the courtly or cultured Lope has not received the attention it deserves, since not even the masterpieces of that period have received updated critical editions. We are speaking, then, of a poet who, after the accession to the throne of Felipe IV, puts a pike in the publishing market with two works of difficult generic taxonomy: La Filomena (1621) and La Circe (1624). With them, Lope delves into literary subgenres little traveled by him, such as the Cervantine-style short novel. But what motivates such an authorial turn in the twenties? What is Lope pursuing with these two peculiar volumes and what strategies does he use to build this renewed self? This study addresses all these questions, and others of greater depth, whose hypotheses are ultimately intended to outline a clearer profile of the author in his full maturity
