In exploring new ways of teaching students how to use Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), librarians at Boston University's Alumni Medical Library (AML) integrated social tagging into their instruction. ...These activities were incorporated into the two-credit graduate course, "GMS MS 640: Introduction to Biomedical Information," required for all students in the graduate medical science program. Hands-on assignments and in-class exercises enabled librarians to present MeSH and the concept of a controlled vocabulary in a familiar and relevant context for the course's Generation Y student population and provided students the opportunity to actively participate in creating their education. At the conclusion of these activities, students were surveyed regarding the clarity of the presentation of the MeSH vocabulary. Analysis of survey responses indicated that 46% found the concept of MeSH to be the clearest concept presented in the in-class intervention.

Universities are social universes in their own right. They are the site of multiple, complex and diverse social relations, identities, communities, knowledges and practices. At the heart of this book ...are people enrolling at university for the first time and entering into the broad variety of social relations and contexts entailed in their ‘coming to know’ at, of and through university. By recasting ‘the transition to university’ as simultaneously and necessarily entailing a transition of university — indeed universities — and of their many and varied constitutive relations, structures and practices, the contributors to this book seek to reconceptualise the ‘first-year experience’ in terms of multiple and dynamic processes of dialogue and exchange amongst all participants. They interrogate taken-for-granted understandings of what ‘the university’ is, and consider what universities might yet become.
In Morocco, public policies continue to favor the seaside model, while the reality of both demand and offer shows that tourist destinations in the hinterlands are increasingly emerging. The purpose ...of this article is to focus on the process of emergence of new tourist destinations in rural Morocco. It tries to analyze the quite particular conditions of the triggering of a demand and an offer in rural tourism, by assuming that whatever the potential, the emergence or otherwise of a destination depends mainly on the convergence of three actors. It is the tourist who invents the destination through his expectations and his Vision, local actors who many accept or reject this request and public policies that may or may not accompany local initiatives that seek to meet this demand.
Thus, after having recalled the conditions for the development of rural tourism in Morocco, the article focuses on the process of emergence of a destination of rural tourism through the case of the region of Chefchaouen, small town in the Western Rif, by analyzing the arrival of demand, the mobilization of international cooperation, the initiatives of the local associative movement and the hesitations of public policies.
In response to intensified competition and pressures on ecosystems, many tourist
destinations are committed to sustainable development strategies. In this context,
how can you support the creation of ...a cluster (or cluster) based on sustainable
tourism in a tourist destination? The theoretical framework of this research is based
on the vision of resources and skills and theories of governance. The empirical
survey focuses on the Cinque Terre National Park, where a cluster of micro receptive
contributes to sustainable tourism development area. The study shows that (1) the
existence of a system of values in the local community and relational capital between
the participating agents promotes cooperation among them, (2) that the organization
of a hybrid device of governance between market and hierarchy, participatory model,
can shape the cluster institutionalizing the values shared by the group.
capital relacional entre los agentes participantes favorece la cooperación entre ellos;
This study examined the initial learning trajectories of 13 upper elementary teachers as they developed technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) while participating in a 7-month ...professional development program focused on integrating technology into their classroom practice. The program was collaborative and non-prescriptive: teachers worked on self-chosen summer projects with flexible support from a university-based partner. A descriptive multicase study design was employed to track teachers' learning progressions. Data included interviews, surveys, digital artifacts, and researchers' notes and memos. During the program, teachers developed varying degrees of TPACK. Analyses distilled six initial TPACK learning trajectories.
Purpose: This paper explores the various ways of promoting innovative activities adopted by the companies for raising their competitive positions among the industry based on the previous studies. ...Methods: A number of successful and mediocre cases of industries were reviewed carefully, and then the customized innovative model was established. Key categories and core elements were first identified for establishing progressive corporate culture and validated with the case of a company with multiple business areas. Results: The key categories were identified as strategic, systematic, human resources, and cultural aspects. The resulting core elements were consistent with those of the case company. Conclusion: Analyzing diverse product groups and companies with different organization culture, the key categories and core elements were derived and validated for companies to win the competitive position in the industry.
