RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The scientific aim of the article is to improve understanding of func- tional literacy (illiteracy) phenomenon and its role in adult learning system, pedagogical and ...socio-economic approaches to this concept.THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem is included in the questions: What are the essence, definition and constituents of functional literacy? What are pedagogical principles and techniques of functional literacy training for adults? The author uses the method of theoretical analysis of scientific works, some documents and UNESCO reports on the issues, and comparison of certain research views.THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article starts with investigation of functional literacy in historical and contemporary dimensions, the reasons for development of the phenomenon in the world. Then we focus on various concepts and approaches to the functional literacy through the time. The next is comparison of scholars research on the components of functional literacy; and then we study the principles and methods, peculiarities of functional literacy training in adult education.RESEARCH RESULTS: The research has revealed that functional literacy is a complex of social necessary knowledge and skills allowing a person to participate effectively in social process. Its constituent elements are basic, information, economic, political, cultural literacy, and many others depending on community level. Functional literacy concept and training are connected with the priorities of economic and social development. The constant interest by national and international organizations for maintaining functional literacy is explained in the work.CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The conclusion emphasizes the importance of functional literacy for development and well-being of individual and societal progress in the community. The need for working out and implementation of specific principles, teaching materials and techniques for functional literacy training in adult learning is highlighted.
Awareness about the importance of marketing of higher education institutions has been steadily growing amongst decision makers on international level. That trend is particularly noticeable in case of ...adult education programs, which need continual promotion since it is a type of non-formal education. In Bosnia and Herzegovina private universities and private providers of non-formal education programs have been promoting adult education for some time now. At the same time public universities, mainly influenced by the marketing myopia phenomenon, use promotional activities only sporadically. Therefore, for the purpose of improving promotion of adult education programs in public universities, a qualitative exploratory study has been conducted. The aim was to investigate attitudes and opinions of adults about promotion activities for adult education programs. Data was collected through focus groups from representatives of four generations: Baby Boomers, Generation X, Y and Z. Research results show that different generations have different needs and expectations when it comes to adult education programs. A generally positive attitude towards adult education programs has emerged. Values have been identified which could be communicated through promotion activities. Based on research results several recommendations are given for improvement of adult education promotion. Research results presented in this article directly contribute to achieving UNESCO's Education for Sustainable Development 2030 agenda (priorities 1, 2, 3 and 5), contributing further indirectly to achieving Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8 and 10.
The aim of the paper was to identify knowledge, skills and competencies of health andsafety professionals (OHS). In the first part of the research the bibliographic query was conductedto identify ...arrangements concerning the concepts of knowledge, skills and competencies. Inthe empirical part (1) on the basis of the analysis of learning outcomes, the range of knowledge,competences and skills of OSH graduates was identified and (2) on the basis of the analysis ofresponses from OSH workers, the range of knowledge, skills and comand competences necessary towork in the OSH service was presented. The authors contribution encompasses conductinga qualitative research and systematization of the obtained results.
The "CRED- Relevant Curriculum, open education for all" project was developed to respond to some needs, including: to knowledge and use of the values of the new National Curriculum; to develop of ...relevant documents for educational policy (methodological guides for the various disciplines and Educational Resources Open (RED); to support the classroom application of the new school programs; to carry out thematic research to support the implementation process of the curriculum based on key competences, with a focus on students from disadvantaged categories; to train of 55,000 primary and secondary education teachers for a methodological approach centered on key skills and adapting learning activities to the specific needs of each student, including those at risk of dropping out, facilitating student-centered teaching-learning, the integrated approach (in the sense of making connections with real life), using alternative methods of formative assessment; to review the curriculum at the school's decision, capitalizing on the needs, resources and local cultural, social, economic context; to review the curriculum documents aimed at the "Second Chance" Program. The work "Teachers training and professional development within the CRED project" presents the results obtained in the framework of a mini-research carried out as a trainer in the program, Digital educational resources: creation, use, evaluation, OME accredited training program no. 3306/22.02.2022.

As effective surgeon educators, we must seek continual improvement, to be “better today than I was yesterday.” This pursuit of personal and professional development requires self-awareness of a ...guiding purpose, and grit, the passion and perseverance to achieve long-term goals. Surgical training draws on an apprenticeship model, where progressive transfer of knowledge, responsibility, and autonomy occurs over time as trainees work with experienced surgeons. Educators should model personal responsibility and technical excellence and require both of their trainees. While training programs shift towards competency-based learning, educators must remember that we shape learners with the “hidden curriculum” and not just the facts we teach them.
