Background
Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) referral and participation are generally found to be underused worldwide. The data in Asian regions suggest significant underutilization compared with western ...countries.
Objectives
To promote the continuity and effects of CR, this study aimed at supporting self-care and improving CR effects in phase II CR with mobile health application for Macao patients who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention.
Methods
The study was a randomized controlled trial conducted between January 2018 and June 2020 in a nongovernmental Hospital. Social cognitive theory was applied in the intervention for an experimental group. Measurements including anxiety and depression level, medication adherence, exercise capacity, physical activity level, cardiovascular risk modification, self-efficacy, quality of life, use of healthcare resources, mHealth CR utility, and satisfaction were analyzed.
Results
One hundred forty eligible patients were recruited, and 110 patients completed the study. Significant interventional effects of the experimental group were found on the reduction of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, sitting time, anxiety level, and total anxiety and depression level (
P
< .05). In addition, significant improvement on the 6-minute walk test, regular exercise performance, self-efficacy of cardiac exercise and diet, and quality of life were found as interventional effects in the experimental group (
P
< .05). The feasibility of intervention was achieved in a satisfactory level.
Conclusions
This theoretically grounded mobile health CR study was a unique program tailor-made to meet the care needs of patients post percutaneous coronary intervention. It was feasible and effective to support CR effects and adherence and would inform further design of clinical practice and public policies.

Advanced nursing care (ANC) has been reported to effectively relieve bone cancer pain, prevent psychological disorders and improve the quality of life (QoL) in patients with primary bone cancers ...(PBC) during the treatment. However, the exact effect of ANC remains controversial. This systematic review will aimed to assess the effectiveness of ANC on bone cancer pain, psychological disorders and QoL in patients with PBC.
Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and high-quality prospective cohort studies were searched from Excerpt Medica Database (Embase), PubMed, Google Scholar, Medline, Cochrane Library, Web of Science (WOS), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Bio Medical Database (CBM), China Scientific Journal Database (CSJD), and Wanfang Database. Papers in English or Chinese published from January 2000 to July 2020 will be included without any restrictions. The clinical outcomes including bone cancer pain, psychological disorders, QoL, and adverse events of ANC in patients with PBC were systematically evaluated. Two reviewers will separately carry out study selection and data extraction. Stata 14.0 and Review Manager 5.3 were used for data analysis. Methodological quality for each eligible clinical trial will be assessed by using Cochrane risk of bias tool. Subgroup and meta-regression analysis will be carried out depending on the availability of sufficient data.
This study will comprehensively summarize all potential evidence to systematically investigate the effects and safety of ANC on bone cancer pain, psychological disorders and QoL in patients with PBC.
The findings of this study will help to determine whether ANC is effective or not on bone cancer pain, psychological disorders and QoL in patients with PBC.

Weaning of mechanical ventilation occurs in intensive care units by nurses, which stimulates the prospect of nurse-led extubation extending into the PACU environment for improved patient outcomes and ...reduced demand of hospital resources. Nurse-led patient extubation in the PACU, would involve specially trained nurses weaning mechanical ventilation via an established protocol for a specific patient group, prior to the patient being extubated by an anaesthetist or intensivist.
Hemorrhagic cystitis (HC) is a troublesome and potentially life-threatening complication of bone marrow transplantation (BMT). HC can appear within a few hours after chemotherapy or after weeks or ...months. Early-onset HC (EOHC) is usually associated with the conditioning regimen.
The main aim of this study was to describe the incidence of EOHC in patients undergoing BMT regimens including high-dose cyclophosphamide (CY) and the effects of the main preventive measures adopted in Italian nursing practice.
The authors retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of 158 Italian patients who underwent BMT from 2006-2008.
Thirty-one patients (19.6%) developed EOHC. One hundred and forty-seven patients (93%) given high-dose CY were treated with hyperhydration combined with 2-mercaptoethane sulphonate (mesna) and diuresis alkalinization, and only 51 (32.3%) patients were preventively catheterized and received continuous bladder irrigation (CBI). By univariate analysis, prophylactic urethral catheterization and CBI did not decrease EOHC incidence questioning if these measures were to be routinely recommended. Previous studies showed increased discomfort and urinary tract infection in catheterized patients; therefore, nurses may fulfill an important role in balancing the benefits and harms of preventive catheterization and CBI in patients who received BMT conditioning including high-dose CY.

Introduction. In order to truly quantify the nursing workload, activities must be registered in the nursing plan and put in the context of a theoretical model of the discipline, as the medical ...diagnosis does not always explain workloads. Furthermore, the pediatric ward is especially complex due to the high level of patient dependency and concomitant family engagement. Purpose. To identify the use of Henderson’s theory during the nursing process; to critically assess care in the pediatric ward; and to propose strategies to implement advanced nursing care. Methodology. Data was collected using a constructivist participant observation method, with an observer who was part of the pediatric ward for 6 years. Results. When appraising the patient in the pediatric ward, nurses do consider Henderson’s 14 basic needs. However, during planning and carrying out care, only the first 9 needs are actually taken into account, ignoring the needs of communication, religion, adaptation, recreation and education. Conclusions. By using a record based on Henderson's theory that includes all phases of the nursing process, together with a previous awareness and training program that helps guide nurses in the use of the model for patient care by including the family, it will be possible for these professionals to deploy advanced nursing care in the pediatric ward.

Purpose: This study aimed to provide information on the developmental process and current status of Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) and to suggest ways for activating APN roles in Korea. Methods: We ...reviewed literatures to explore domestic and international trends related to the roles, practice settings, scope of practice, regulatory policies, and political environment of APN. Results: Interest in the APN role has been gaining ground worldwide. While the roles of APN in the USA, Taiwan and Japan have been changed in terms of legislation and institutional regulations, the role of APN in 12 fields except for APN in home care has not been legislated since qualification was specified in Korean Medical Law. Many problems were found in vitalizing APN roles: absence of legal regulations on the scope of practice or health insurance coverage for APN, increase the number of medical support staffs who are not qualified, and a disagreement regarding the qualification field and practical field. Conclusion: This study presents snapshots and vitalizing strategies of practice, and regulation for APN to develop their unique roles in Korea. The tasks and duties of APN should be identified specifically to fulfill their roles. In terms of national health insurance policy APN`s Nursing care should be reimbursed just as nursing care of APN in home care.
