The rate of BrO3 - reduction by a commercial TiO2 photocatalyst under UV illumination in an aqueous solution was increased by lowering the pH from 7 to 5. The effect is attributable to an enhancement ...of the electrical interaction between BrO3 - and the positively charged surfaces of the TiO2 photocatalyst. The surface charge can be controlled by a surface modification of the TiO2 photocatalyst without controlling the pH of the water. In fact, the isoelectric point of surface-modified TiO2 was higher than that of the unloaded TiO2 photocatalyst, resulting in an increase in the rate of the photocatalytic reduction of BrO3 - at a neutral pH. This increase is explained by an increase in the amount of adsorbed BrO3 - on the photocatalyst surface.
In this article we investigated the influence of various nanofilllers' aspect ratio, chemical nature, and organic modification on some selected nylon-6 properties, such as crystallinity, thermal and ...mechanical resistance, and fire behavior. Materials were prepared by twin-screw extrusion and characterized by means of scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, tensile tests, and cone calorimeter. Fillers characteristics were found to influence at different extents the material final properties.
Zusammenfassung
Unter optimalen Voraussetzungen ist mit einfachen hydrogeochemischen Programmen wie PHREEQC eine Modellierung der Lagerstättentemperatur von Thermalwässern möglich. Hierzu müssen ...allerdings bestimmte Bedingungen erfüllt sein. Vor allem sollte der Chemismus des Formationswassers während des Aufstieges unverändert bleiben und damit das thermodynamische Gleichgewicht mit der Mineralparagenese in der Lagerstättentiefe repräsentieren. Insbesondere für Karbonatminerale wie Dolomit sollte die thermodynamische Datenbank kritisch geprüft werden. Die Datenbank muss für die Temperaturabhängigkeit der Minerallöslichkeiten, statt der strenggenommen nur für isocoulombische Reaktionen nutzbaren Temperaturkorrektur nach Van’t Hoff (Enthalpieansatz), den aus der Maier-Kelley-Gleichung abgeleiteten Polynomansatz mit mindestens fünf Parametern enthalten. verwendet. Im Falle von Alumosilikatmineralen muss deren inkongruentes Löslichkeitsverhalten und Gleichgewicht mit Al-Hydroxiden (Gibbsit bei T < 100 °C, Böhmit bei T > 100 °C) berücksichtigt werden. Im Resultat der Modellierung ergibt sich für die Thermalquellen der Wiesbadener Innenstadt ein normaler geothermischer Tiefengradient von 3 °C pro 100 m.
A quantificação de boehmita em bauxita é de fundamental importância para a determinação da temperatura de digestão no processo Bayer, mas não existe, na literatura, nenhum método rápido e confiável, ...para se realizar essa determinação. Portanto, nesse trabalho, utilizou-se a difração de raios X, para se realizar a quantificação de boehmita, gibbsita, hematita e goethita em bauxita. Uma amostra de bauxita, oriunda de Gana e contendo 45% de gibbsita e 43% de boehmita, foi submetida a uma lixiviação cáustica a 160ºC, para a remoção da gibbsita. O resíduo da lixiviação, completamente isento de gibbsita, foi tratado com o sistema ditionito-citrato-bicarbonato, para a remoção dos oxi-hidróxidos de ferro, resultando em uma amostra contendo cerca de 85%-89% de boehmita e 9% de TiO2. Curvas de calibração correlacionando as intensidades dos picos de difração com os teores das fases mineralógicas foram obtidas, para padrões preparados pela mistura de quantidades conhecidas de gibbsita, hematita e goethita com a amostra purificada de bauxita. Correlações significativas foram obtidas para os planos cristalográficos (020), (051), (002) e (251) da boehmita; (110), (200), (11-2) e (024) da gibbsita; (012), (024) e (110) da hematita; e (110) e (021) da goethita. Essas correlações podem ser utilizadas, para se quantificar o teor dessas fases em amostras semelhantes de bauxita.
