This open access book explores the synergy between AI and education, highlighting its potential impact on pedagogical practices. It navigates the evolving landscape of AI-powered educational ...technologies and suggests practical ways to personalise instruction, nurture human-AI co-creativity, and transform the learning experience. Spanning from primary to higher education, this short and engaging volume proposes concrete examples of how educational stakeholders can be empowered in their AI literacy to foster creativity, inspire critical thinking, and promote problem-solving by embracing AI as a tool for expansive learning. Structured in three parts, the book starts developing the creative engagement perspective for learning and teaching to then present practical applications of AI in K-12 and higher education, covering different fields (teacher education, professional education, business education) as well as different types of AI supported tools (games, chatbots, and AI assisted assessment). It also delves into the ethical considerations, policy implications, and the central role educators play in harnessing the power of an AI informed educational experience.

Radiomics is a process that allows the extraction and analysis of quantitative data from medical images. It is an evolving field of research with many potential applications in medical imaging. The ...purpose of this review is to offer a deep look into radiomics, from the basis, deeply discussed from a technical point of view, through the main applications, to the challenges that have to be addressed to translate this process in clinical practice. A detailed description of the main techniques used in the various steps of radiomics workflow, which includes image acquisition, reconstruction, pre-processing, segmentation, features extraction and analysis, is here proposed, as well as an overview of the main promising results achieved in various applications, focusing on the limitations and possible solutions for clinical implementation. Only an in-depth and comprehensive description of current methods and applications can suggest the potential power of radiomics in fostering precision medicine and thus the care of patients, especially in cancer detection, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment evaluation.
The main challenge of Internal Control is to give dynamism to Administrative Management to adapt to modern needs. The research aimed to propose an Internal Control directive to strengthen ...administrative management at the Lambayeque Regional Headquarters with a descriptive study. , non-experimental design, quantitative research, using the survey information collection technique, validated by experts, applying to a sample of 50 workers, the data were processed in the SPSS V27 software, obtaining results that showed that the Regional Headquarters presents weaknesses in the five dimensions of Internal Control and the four of administrative management, the result of 86%, was the highest score that the respondents favorably favored the proposal for the Internal Control directive, followed by 78%. in favor of defining the roles of the officials and servers involved, the corresponding responsibilities, among others, which will allow for better administrative management, as well as the determination of the corresponding responsibilities in the event of non-compliance and the induction or training that is required.
We are aiming to build a system which provides a route with minimum risk in order to reduce accidents of elderly drivers. For this purpose, it is necessary to estimate the risk level of unsignalized ...intersections where accidents are likely to occur. Therefore, for estimating the risk level, we propose a method to estimate the available viewing angle at intersections based on semantic segment distribution generated from a street view image. The performance of estimation is evaluated through experiments using street view images. As a result, we achieved an accuracy of more than 80% from a single image.
Purpose
To report the results of a nationwide online survey on artificial intelligence (AI) among radiologist members of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM).
Methods ...and materials
All members were invited to the survey as an initiative by the Imaging Informatics Chapter of SIRM. The survey consisted of 13 questions about the participants’ demographic information, perceived advantages and issues related to AI implementation in radiological practice, and their overall opinion about AI.
Results
In total, 1032 radiologists (equaling 9.5% of active SIRM members for the year 2019) joined the survey. Perceived AI advantages included a lower diagnostic error rate (750/1027, 73.0%) and optimization of radiologists’ work (697/1027, 67.9%). The risk of a poorer professional reputation of radiologists compared with non-radiologists (617/1024, 60.3%), and increased costs and workload due to AI system maintenance and data analysis (399/1024, 39.0%) were seen as potential issues. Most radiologists stated that specific policies should regulate the use of AI (933/1032, 90.4%) and were not afraid of losing their job due to it (917/1032, 88.9%). Overall, 77.0% of respondents (794/1032) were favorable to the adoption of AI, whereas 18.0% (186/1032) were uncertain and 5.0% (52/1032) were unfavorable.
Conclusions
Radiologists had a mostly positive attitude toward the implementation of AI in their working practice. They were not concerned that AI will replace them, but rather that it might diminish their professional reputation.
This paper presents a methodology and mobile application for driver monitoring, analysis, and recommendations based on detected unsafe driving behavior for accident prevention using a personal ...smartphone. For the driver behavior monitoring, the smartphone's cameras and built-in sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, and microphone) are used. A developed methodology includes dangerous state classification, dangerous state detection, and a reference model. The methodology supports the following driver's online dangerous states: distraction and drowsiness as well as an offline dangerous state related to a high pulse rate. We implemented the system for Android smartphones and evaluated it with ten volunteers.
This paper addresses a challenging category of repetitive projects that involves scattered sites, such as rehabilitation programs for multiple bridges, multiple schools, etc. The paper proposes a ...schedule optimization framework with four novel components: (1) scheduling algorithm that efficiently schedules the crews among scattered sites, considering the activities independent site sequences and the time and cost of moving among sites; (2) cost optimization that considers deadlines, crew limits, and optional construction methods to determine the activities’ optimum crews, methods, and site sequences; (3) interactive documentation of all progress events to support re-scheduling during construction; and (4) legible schedule representation of scattered projects. A computer prototype was developed and validated on a real-life case study and literature examples. Activity-specific site sequences proved uniquely flexible to optimize the scheduling of scattered projects without extra cost. The proposed framework enables efficient delivery planning of large infrastructure rehabilitation program within the execution constraints.
•This paper identifies the unique scheduling challenges of scattered repetitive projects (SRPs).•Based on a field study, SRPs require activity-independent site sequences and productivity factors for operational facilities.•A cost optimization framework was developed to determine the optimum crews, methods, and activity sequences that minimize cost.•The framework has functions to record progress events and develop optimum corrective-action plans.•A real case study proved the powerful optimization of the developed framework.
