Drawing on multi-disciplinary literature, this paper provides an integrative review of the concept of deviance, examining its relationship with and application to hospitality management. It ...synthesises conceptualisations of deviance in the social sciences and applications of the concept in organisational and consumer behaviour research. The paper distinguishes between four sources of deviance in hospitality management: staff, suppliers, customers and external actors, exploring different forms of deviance stemming from each. The subsequent discussion explores multiple antecedents and drivers of deviance, considering how these have been conceptualised in various disciplines at different levels of analysis: organisational; interpersonal, social and cultural; and personality and individual. The critical synthesis identifies diverse themes in the connections between deviance and hospitality management, and their implications for research and practice.

Self-concept has a significant effect on deviant behaviour among students of Ternate State Islamic Institute which was14.5%.
With a basis in conservation of resources theory, this study investigates the relationship between employees' sense of job dissatisfaction and their engagement in deviant behaviour, as well as the ...moderating roles that their exposure to abusive leadership and possession of adaptive humour skills can play in this process. Based on two-way survey data collected from employees in Pakistan, the findings show that employees' unhappy feelings about their job situations enhance the likelihood that they undertake negative behaviours that can harm their organization, especially when they suffer from abusive leadership or lack adaptive humour skills. The buffering effect of their adaptive humour on the positive relationship between job dissatisfaction and deviant behaviour is also particularly salient in the presence of abusive leadership.
Based on job crafting theory and workplace resources theories, the present study develops a model of both antecedents and consequences of job crafting. We hypothesized subordinates' perceptions of ...empowering leadership and core self-evaluations influence employee job crafting behaviours, which subsequently influence four outcomes: improving three employee well-being outcomes, (a) work-family enrichment, (b) flourishing, and (c) life satisfaction; and simultaneously reducing the organizational outcome of (d) deviant behaviours. Three-waves of data over nine months were collected from U.S. full-time employees (n = 276). Results showed empowering leadership and core self-evaluations positively related to expansive/approach forms of job crafting behaviours, which in turn related to the three different well-being outcomes. However, job crafting did not affect employee deviant behaviour. Instead, empowering leadership and core self-evaluations directly predicted less deviant behaviour. With the imputed data, we also found job crafting had a significant but weak relationship with deviant behaviour. These findings provide an integrated understanding of how and why employees engage in job crafting, and the important influence that job crafting has on employees' subjective well-being. The present study advances leadership and job crafting theories, providing practical recommendations for promoting employee well-being and decreasing undesirable behaviours in the form of workplace deviance.
The paper dwells upon the impact of advertising on the processes taking place in modern Ukrainian society in the context of the archetypal approach. The author considers the role of advertising as a ...factor in social transformations, and negative social deviations, particularly manifestations of deviant behaviour such as smoking and gaming addiction. In the example of social groups most vulnerable to the influence of advertising, which are children and teenagers, special attention is paid to analysing the use of archetypes in advertising. It has been proven that thanks to technologies of influence on mass consciousness, including archetypes, advertising acquires the function of a manipulator of mass consciousness and, to a certain extent, exerts a destructive influence on society as a whole and youth in particular. It is shown that advertising as a socio-cultural phenomenon requires a complex approach to the problem of regulating this sphere to ensure the interests of society and protect consumers from the negative impact of advertising propaganda. The problem of using archetypal principles in regulating advertising activity to counteract its negative impact on social transformation processes is clarified. Attention is paid to areas of regulation improvement in advertising to counteract its negative impact on social transformations. The need to strengthen the role in the processes of regulation of public institutions, to involve the public in solving current problems of society and to protect its moral and ethical values is proved. According to the study results, it was concluded that advertising acts as a determinant of societal transformational processes and causes changes in mass behaviour, including negative ones, particularly delinquency. Emphasis is placed on the role played by government institutions and state regulation and the public, social organisations, and institutions in solving the problem. Consideration of the state of regulation of advertising activity through the prism of archetypes gives grounds for the conclusion that the use of archetypes as the basis of managerial influence and their use in the regulation of the advertising sphere will contribute to balancing the interests of society and the advertising industry, protecting the rights of consumers, and increasing the social responsibility of advertising distributors.
The influences of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and workplace deviant behavior (WDB) on business unit performance were investigated using data from branches of a fast food organization. ...Data included measures of WDB and OCB obtained from staff, ratings of performance provided by supervisors, and objective measures of performance. It was found that WDB was negatively and significantly associated with business unit performance measured both subjectively and objectively. OCB, however, failed to contribute to the prediction of business unit performance beyond the level that was achieved by WDB. It appeared, therefore, that the presence of deviant employees among business units impinges upon the performance of the business unit as a whole, whereas OCBs had comparatively little effect.

Abstract
This study aims to examine the effects of strain, social control and learning variables on the likelihood of deviant behaviour among left‐behind children (thereafter LBC) and non‐left‐behind ...children (thereafter NLBC) in China. A cross‐sectional survey study was conducted among 380 LBC and 656 NLBC in elementary and middle schools in three cities of Hubei Province, China. Bivariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to assess whether LBC and NLBC differ in deviant behaviour and three main groups of correlates of deviance that reflect strain, social control and learning. LBC were less likely than NLBC to commit deviant behaviour. LBC with greater family attachment and school bond were less likely to engage in deviance, whereas NLBC with more academic difficulty and bullying victimization were more inclined to conduct deviant acts. Having deviant peers increased both LBC's and NLBC's probability of committing deviant behaviour. A combination of factors related to strain, social control and learning theories explains Chinese children's deviance. It is important to promote the healthy development of LBC by enhancing family and school bonds and reducing deviant associations.
Tensions between tourists and residents due to the formers' behaviour are frequently observed in destinations. In such a milieu, understanding residents' perception of tourist behaviour is important ...to help draft policies designed to engender a peaceful co‐existence. Using social representation theory as a lens, this study thematically analysed 2088 comments from 10 subreddits to explore how residents socially define tourists' deviant behaviour. The analysis revealed 13 behaviours that have direct or indirect social, economic and/or environmental impacts from the perspective of residents. The findings have valuable and practical implications for stakeholders in tourism destinations.
The authors examined the effects of supervisory guidance (providing instruction to employees) and behavioral integrity (a pattern of word-deed alignment) on employee organizational citizenship ...behavior (OCB) and deviant behavior. Results revealed a pattern of Supervisory Guidance × Behavioral Integrity interaction effects, such that relationships between guidance and outcome variables were dependent on the level of behavioral integrity exhibited by supervisors. The interactions suggest a positive relationship between supervisory guidance and OCBs when behavioral integrity is high but also a positive relationship between guidance and deviant behavior when behavioral integrity is low. These results were consistent across 2 independent field samples: 1 assessing individual employee perceptions of supervisory behavior and the other assessing aggregate perceptions of supervisory behavior among employees in bank branches.
