Rzadziej wybierają adresy w domenach funkcjonalnych, regionalnych i europejskiej. Ponadto relatywnie rzadko posługują się adresami utworzonymi w serwisach bezpłatnych. Zamiast nich wybierają bezpłatne subdomeny, często utworzone w domenie dostawcy hostingu, portalu regionalnego (informacyjnego) lub innego.
Due to social and geographical mobility and globalization, many minority languages in the world are pushed to the periphery. Reasons for such a trend differ among languages. In the case of the ...Punjabi language, despite being spoken by a major portion of the population, the speakers are gradually disowning it. Considering this gradual shift, the present study explores the predicament of the Punjabi language. The study uses phenomenological design and collects data from Punjabi ethnic students in four different universities in Islamabad. The study uses semi-structured interviews, TV shows, and natural conversations. Findings reveal that the Punjabi speakers themselves disown their language as well as Punjabi identity due to social, economic, religious, and political reasons. Especially women avoid the language more, they do not speak Punjabi with their children, and they reject their Punjabi identity.
This article is an attempt to build a quantitative panorama of the Polish country code top-level domain (ccTLD) in the years 1996–2001 on the basis of data generously provided by the Internet ...Archive. The purpose of analyzing over 72 million captures
The aim of the article is to show some trends in contemporary transformation of the public domain, and draw attention to certain analogies that occur between changes in the
urban space and social ...modernization processes taking place at a wider, nationwide scale. In addition to the introduction and the conclusion, the text consists of two main parts: dedicated to theoretical considerations and empirical findings. The first part presents more general issues concerning the nature and significance of the urban public spaceand ways of interfering in its shape, taking into account in particular the phenomena referred to as revitalization (urban renewal) and gentrification. In the second part, for illustrative exemplification, three specific cases of modernizing impacts of various nature and effects that took place in recent years in Warsaw were briefly discussed.
One of the most important concepts concerning the safety of navigation is the ship domain. The maritime domain is one of the oldest domains, which preceded the ones used in aviation, railway ...industry, chemical industry and medical. Through the concept of a ship domain is to be understood a certain area around the vessel, which the navigator wants to keep free of other fixed and moving objects. Navigational situation can be considered safe as long as no other ship neither any navigational obstacle would not exceed the area. In order to build and develop methods to assess the safety of the navigation, a ship probabilistic domains for three types of vessel encounter situations were determined based on the AIS traffic monitoring data. The aim of the paper is to present a method to identify navigational incidents on the basis of a probabilistic domain, which can be used to assess the safety of navigation and discovery places potentially dangerous for navigation in the selected areas of the Baltic Sea.
The paper is a polemical commentary on Wacław Cockiewicz’s monograph Metaforyka Leśmiana (Analiza lingwistyczna). Metaphors in Leśmian’s poetry (A linguistic analysis). It is claimed that although ...the author of the book rejects as inadequate the cognitive theory of metaphor developed by George Lakoff and his followers, some of his tacit assumptions actually follow its premises. On the other hand, lack of coherent methodology and erroneous treatment of metaphor as the relation of equivalence (A equals B) result in incoherent or downright incorrect interpretation of many metaphors selected for analysis. Individual items from the corpus are presented in alphabetical order, without concern for either the level of their specificity or their semantic cognation. In effect, their systematicity is often missed. Moreover, in some cases Cockiewicz finds himself unable to interpret Leśmian’s metaphors, and thus his final conclusions – though intuitively correct and partially corroborated by some of the analyses – are undermined.
This paper proposes a novel method for stereo matching which is based on combination of active and passive stereo 3D reconstruction approaches. A laser line is used to scan the reconstructed scene ...and a stereo camera pair is used for the image acquisition. Each image pixel is scanned at a specific scan time so that the intensity time patterns of the correspondent pixels are highly correlated. This yield in highly confident and accurate disparity map calculation and also allows the reconstruction of poorly textured as well as the extremely textured surface which are very hard to deal with using the conventional passive stereo approaches. The occluded regions are also detected successfully. This method is not computationally intensive and can be used for turning the smartphone into the practical 3D scanner as presented in this work.
The author became interested in the body of the texts analyzed in this article during her research on variants and versions of the Flying Africans myth in 20th century culture and literature. In the ...US the main folkloric source of this narrative is an account of oral folklore collected in Georgia from African-Americans, published in 1940 as a part of Federal’s Writer’s Project. The book, entitled Drums and Shadows. Survival Studies Among the Georgia Coastal Negroes directed by Mary Granger, contains interviews with people many of whom had been born in slavery. African Americans interviewed in the project speak widely about talismans, spirits, lucky and unlucky omens and actions, as well as other aspects of their culture and folklore, including a significant amount of flight-related narratives. The dialect in the interviews is transcribed phonetically and difficult for a non-English native speaker, nevertheless the concept of ‘conjuring’ grabs the attention of the reader. This short study is an introduction to a broader analysis of the conceptual domain of ‘conjuring’ in the GWP interviews. The author uses the conceptual metaphor theory in order to establish how magic and witchcraft are conceptualized by the Georgia Writer’s Project speakers.
