Aquaculture plays a very important role in the current Brazilian scenario, helping the income of small families. This activity is considerably new and does not have a specific methodology developed ...for the fishing activity. Due to these factors, this ergonomic analysis at work (AET) study was carried out, with the purpose of identifying the causes of complaints of body pain and fatigue caused by this activity. For this analysis, the Ergolândia software was used, which is composed of several ergonomic methods. The method used in unloading was the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which deals more specifically with lifting and transporting loads, which analyzes the weight of the load, position of hands and feet, inclination of the trunk, height of the load is raised. Collected data and images were also used as assistance. After carrying out the analyzes and verifying that at all stages the Lifting Index (IL) is above the recommended level, some improvement proposals were made to alleviate or eliminate these employee posture problems. All methodologies identified risk levels that require immediate or short-term ergonomic intervention, aiming to guarantee the safety and health of workers who carry out such activity. The implementation of measures designed to eliminate or minimize risk may involve the allocation of significant human and material resources, increasingly necessary for efficient management. Considering the complexity and variability of the tasks developed, it is recommended that such a decision be preceded by a new study using more precise risk assessment methodologies.

Human factors/ergonomics (HFE) has great potential to contribute to the design of all kinds of systems with people (work systems, product/service systems), but faces challenges in the readiness of ...its market and in the supply of high-quality applications. HFE has a unique combination of three fundamental characteristics: (1) it takes a systems approach (2) it is design driven and (3) it focuses on two closely related outcomes: performance and well-being. In order to contribute to future system design, HFE must demonstrate its value more successfully to the main stakeholders of system design. HFE already has a strong value proposition (mainly well-being) and interactivity with the stakeholder group of 'system actors' (employees and product/service users). However, the value proposition (mainly performance) and relationships with the stakeholder groups of 'system experts' (experts fromtechnical and social sciences involved in system design), and 'system decision makers' (managers and other decision makers involved in system design, purchase, implementation and use), who have a strong power to influence system design, need to be developed. Therefore, the first main strategic direction is to strengthen the demand for high-quality HFE by increasing awareness among powerful stakeholders of the value of high-quality HFE by communicating with stakeholders, by building partnerships and by educating stakeholders. The second main strategic direction is to strengthen the application of high-quality HFE by promoting the education of HFE specialists, by ensuring high-quality standards of HFE applications and HFE specialists, and by promoting HFE research excellence at universities and other organisations. This strategy requires cooperation between the HFE community at large, consisting of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), local (national and regional) HFE societies, and HFE specialists. We propose a joint world-wide HFE development plan, in which the IEA takes a leadership role.
Practitioner Summary: Human factors/ergonomics (HFE) has much to offer by addressing major business and societal challenges regarding work and product/service systems. HFE potential, however, is underexploited. This paper presents a strategy for the HFE community to strengthen demand and application of high-quality HFE, emphasising its key elements: systems approach, design driven, and performance and well-being goals.
Background: The aim of the study was to compare the musculoskeletal system load assessed using the rapid office strain assessment (ROSA) and rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) methods in computer ...operators, and to determine the correlation of the obtained results with the occurrence and intensity of musculoskeletal complaints (MSCs) in these individuals. Material and Methods: In a group of 72 persons (38 women and 34 men) working with a computer for > 4 h/day, the ROSA and RULA methods were used to assess the load, while a questionnaire modeled on the Standardized Nordic Questionnary was used to assess the frequency and severity of MSCs. Results: Musculoskeletal complaints occurred in about 66% of the investigated women and 62% of the investigated men within the previous year. The results of the ROSA and RULA methods were not convergent. The final result of the ROSA method (scale 1-10 pts) was 2-6 pts (M = 3.51 + or - 1.09), while the final result of the RULA method (scale 1-7 pts) ranged 2-4 pts (3.00 + or - 0.17). The values of partial and final scores in the ROSA method were correlated with the number of concurrent ailments and intensity of complaints in various regions of the musculoskeletal system. The assessment of the position of particular parts of the body during work, performed using the RULA method, in people with or without MSCs was almost identical. Conclusions: The use of the ROSA method has shown that it is a useful and easy-to-use tool for assessing computer workstations and can be successfully disseminated. Key words: ergonomics, RULA, computer workstation, musculoskeletal load, musculoskeletal complaints, ROSA Wstep: Celem pracy bylo porownanie obciazenia ukladu miesniowo-szkieletowego ocenianego za pomoca metody szybkiej oceny obciazenia fizycznego na stanowiskach w pracy biurowej (rapid office strain assessment--ROSA) i metody szybkiej oceny obciazenia fizycznego ze szczegolnym uwzglcdnieniem konczyn gornych (rapid upper limb assessment--RULA) u operatorow komputerowych oraz okreslenie korelacji wynikow z wystepowaniem i nasileniem dolegliwosci miesniowo-szkieletowych (musculoskeletal complaints MSCs) u tych osob. Material i metody: W grupie 72 osob (38 kobiet i 34 mezczyzn) pracujacych przy komputerze > 4 godz./dobe do oceny obciazenia wykorzystano metody ROSA i RULA. Kwestionariusz wzorowany na Standardized Nordic Questionnary sluzyl do oceny czcstotliwosci i nasilenia MSCs. Wyniki: Dolegliwosci miesniowo-szkieletowe wystapily u ok. 66% kobiet i 62% mezczyzn badanych w ciagu ostatniego roku. Koncowy wynik metody ROSA (skala 1-10 pkt) wynosil 26 pkt (M + or - SD = 3,51 + or - 1,09), a metody RULA (skala 1-7 pkt)--2-4 pkt (M + or - SD = 3,00 + or - 0,17). Wartosci ocen czastkowych i oceny koncowej w metodzie ROSA byly skorelowane z liczba jednoczesnie wystcpujacych dolegliwosci oraz nasilenia dolegliwosci w roznych okolicach ukladu miesniowo-szkieletowego. Ocena pozycji poszczegolnych czcsci ciala podczas pracy u osob z dolegliwosciami i bez nich, przeprowadzona za pomoca metody RULA, byla prawie identyczna. Wnioski: Wykazano, ze metoda ROSA jest uzytecznym i latwym w uzyciu narzedziem do oceny komputerowych stacji roboczych, ktorego stosowanie moze bye rozpowszechniane. Slowa kluczowe: ergonomia, RULA, stanowisko komputerowe, obciazenie ukladu miesniowo-szkieletowego, dolegliwosci ze strony ukladu miesniowo-szkieletowego, ROSA

This paper examines the potential use of Kinect™ range sensor in observational methods for assessing postural loads. Range sensors can detect the position of the joints at high sampling rates without ...attaching sensors or markers directly to the subject under study. First, a computerized OWAS ergonomic assessment system was implemented to permit the data acquisition from Kinect™ and data processing in order to identify the risk level of each recorded postures. Output data were compared with the results provided by human observers, and were used to determine the influence of the sensor view angle relative to the worker. The tests show high inter-method agreement in the classification of risk categories (Proportion agreement index = 0.89 κ = 0.83) when the tracked subject is facing the sensor. The camera's point of view relative to the position of the tracked subject significantly affects the correct classification of the postures. Although the results are promising, some aspects involved in the use of low-cost range sensors should be further studied for their use in real environments.
