Abstract
In the article, based on theoretical and experimental research, the choice of the constructive-technological scheme of the separating working body of potato diggers is substantiated. As a ...result, it was found that the separating working bodies of potato diggers with drive disc-elastic fingers located above the elevator bed provide the best performance.

Chillers are the important components across various applications, and understanding the impact of common faults on their performance is crucial for monitoring fault progression and predicting ...degradation. Consequently, an experimental investigation was conducted on a magnetic levitation-driven chiller across different severity levels. The quantitative influence of common faults on performance was then analyzed, with a specific focus on thermodynamic mechanism parameters. From a data variation perspective, a sensitivity analysis was implemented to identify the fault-sensitive parameters that exhibited noteworthy variations due to faults. From a classification performance perspective, the diagnosis-effective parameters were identified based on their significance in fault diagnosis. The results of this study led to several key conclusions: 1) Trends and magnitudes of changes in 38 parameters related to nine typical faults are identified in comparison to their normal levels; 2) Common faults have a significant influence on thermodynamic mechanism parameters, causing big changes in two to eight thermodynamic mechanism parameters for each fault; 3) Discrepancies between fault-sensitive parameters and diagnosis-effective parameters results in a difference of up to 64% in diagnostic performance; 4) Nine decoupling parameters are identified as pivotal in diagnosing concurrent faults, and an effective set of fault diagnosis rules is recommended. These findings provide valuable insights into the selection of sensitive parameters, identification of fault-decoupling parameters, and the development of fully interpretable and reliable fault diagnosis approaches.
The effect of honey consumption in diabetic patients has been contradictory. The aim of the present animal study was to compare the effect of different types of honey on the lipid profile in diabetic ...rats.
Sixty-four male Wistar rats were divided into two main groups: a streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus (DM) group (including four subgroups) and a healthy group (including four subgroups), based on random allocation. Three subgroups of each main group were given 1 mg/kg of three different types of honey (acacia, astragalus, and artificial honey) by oral gavage for 10 weeks. The control groups were given distilled water. Blood samples were collected, and the lipid profile was measured and compared between the eight groups after the intervention.
The levels of LDL, triglycerides (TG), and total cholesterol (Tchol) in DM rats treated with astragalus honey were significantly lower and the HDL level was significantly higher compared to the other DM and healthy groups (all
-values < 0.05). LDL, TG, and Tchol levels in DM rats treated with artificial honey were significantly higher, and HDL levels were significantly lower than for other types of honey and for the control groups (all
-values < 0.05). LDL, HDL, TG, and Tchol levels in healthy rats were not significantly different between the groups (
-value > 0.05).
Different types of honey (acacia, astragalus, and artificial honey) had various effects on serum lipid profiles in diabetic rats. The results of this study indicated that the effect of honey on diabetic patients can vary widely based on its source.
Researchers commonly interpret effect sizes by applying benchmarks proposed by Jacob Cohen over a half century ago. However, effects that are small by Cohen’s standards are large relative to the ...impacts of most field-based interventions. These benchmarks also fail to consider important differences in study features, program costs, and scalability. In this article, I present five broad guidelines for interpreting effect sizes that are applicable across the social sciences. I then propose a more structured schema with new empirical benchmarks for interpreting a specific class of studies: causal research on education interventions with standardized achievement outcomes. Together, these tools provide a practical approach for incorporating study features, costs, and scalability into the process of interpreting the policy importance of effect sizes.

Exceptional points are branch point singularities in the parameter space of a system at which two or more eigenvalues, and their corresponding eigenvectors, coalesce and become degenerate. Such ...peculiar degeneracies are distinct features of non-Hermitian systems, which do not obey conservation laws because they exchange energy with the surrounding environment. Non-Hermiticity has been of great interest in recent years, particularly in connection with the quantum mechanical notion of parity-time symmetry, after the realization that Hamiltonians satisfying this special symmetry can exhibit entirely real spectra. These concepts have become of particular interest in photonics because optical gain and loss can be integrated and controlled with high resolution in nanoscale structures, realizing an ideal playground for non-Hermitian physics, parity-time symmetry, and exceptional points. As we control dissipation and amplification in a nanophotonic system, the emergence of exceptional point singularities dramatically alters their overall response, leading to a range of exotic optical functionalities associated with abrupt phase transitions in the eigenvalue spectrum. These concepts enable ultrasensitive measurements, superior manipulation of the modal content of multimode lasers, and adiabatic control of topological energy transfer for mode and polarization conversion. Non-Hermitian degeneracies have also been exploited in exotic laser systems, new nonlinear optics schemes, and exotic scattering features in open systems. Here we review the opportunities offered by exceptional point physics in photonics, discuss recent developments in theoretical and experimental research based on photonic exceptional points, and examine future opportunities in this area from basic science to applied technology.
Abstract
While Amazon's Mechanical Turk (MTurk) has reduced the cost of collecting original data, in 2018, researchers noted the potential existence of a large number of bad actors on the platform. ...To evaluate data quality on MTurk, we fielded three surveys between 2018 and 2020. While we find no evidence of a “bot epidemic,” significant portions of the data—between 25 and 35 percent—are of dubious quality. While the number of IP addresses that completed the survey multiple times or circumvented location requirements fell almost 50 percent over time, suspicious IP addresses are more prevalent on MTurk than on other platforms. Furthermore, many respondents appear to respond humorously or insincerely, and this behavior increased over 200 percent from 2018 to 2020. Importantly, these low-quality responses attenuate observed treatment effects by magnitudes ranging from approximately 10 to 30 percent.
We give an overview of the most important decisions to be taken when planning and conducting experimental advertising research. Based on previous research and state-of-the-art academic insights, we ...discuss good methodological practices with respect to fleshing out the contribution of a study, developing and testing experimental stimuli, selecting appropriate samples, collecting data, designing questionnaires, deciding which variables and measures to include, and determining scale measurement. This set of guidelines should enable experimental advertising researchers to optimize their study designs and to carry them out in a correct way.
