Cette nouvelle édition présente cinq journaux remarquables d’habitants du Nord, combattants et civils, rédigés entre 1914 et 1918 dans les tranchées et dans la région occupée. Ils restituent, cent ...ans après la Grande Guerre et la disparition complète d’une génération, des situations d’hommes et de femmes qui ont vécu la résolution, la souffrance, l’humiliation, en restant conscients du prix de leur abnégation : le sacrifice pour la France. Les diaristes pratiquent une forme de résistance de tous les instants, y compris tenir un journal : résister, c’est tout faire pour gagner la guerre contre les Allemands. Les soldats nous renseignent, à tous les niveaux spatiotemporels, sur les combats, l’occupation, l’évacuation, tandis que les diaristes civils, – deux institutrices et un commerçant –, se font les mémorialistes d’une précision implacable de leur région à l’heure allemande, enchevêtrée dans leur chronologie affective personnelle. La lecture de ces journaux nous apprend que le corps, l’âme, le paysage, sont vulnérables, au sens étymologique. Elle nous permet de voir comment les blessures et les dévastations extraordinaires dues à la Grande Guerre ont été vécues, perçues et représentées, « distillées », comme disait le géographe écrivain Julien Gracq en inventant les belles notions « d’esprit de l’histoire » et de « paysage-histoire ».
Dans cet article, nous nous intéressons aux savoirs et aux connaissances des enseignants de français récemment recrutés dans les écoles primaires. Les savoirs et les connaissances que requiert ...l’enseignement du français, assuré particulièrement par les professeurs débutants, constituent en effet une difficulté langagière majeure en Tunisie, question à laquelle cette approche didactique souhaite apporter sa contribution. Il s’agit d’une recherche exploratoire à travers laquelle nous essayerons d’apporter des précisions et des réponses sur les savoirs et les connaissances relatifs à la discipline du Français, langue étrangère première en Tunisie. Les éléments de réflexion issus de ce travail et développés ainsi relèvent d’une problématique de recherche ayant donné matière à une enquête de terrain avec 20 enseignants en exercice dans le commissariat de la région de Mahdia – Tunisie. Les enseignants interrogés dans ce travail font partie de la première promotion de la nouvelle formation initiale dite LAEE (Licence Appliquée en Éducation et Enseignement) de l’ISEAH1 de Mahdia. Abstract In this article, we are interested in the skills and knowledge of French teachers recently recruited in primary schools. The knowing and knowledge required bythe teaching of French, carried out particularly by beginning teachers, indeed constitutes a major language difficulty in Tunisia, an issue to which this didactic approach wishes to make its contribution. This is an exploratory research through which we will try to provide answers on the knowing and knowledge relating to the discipline of French, the first foreign language in Tunisia. Theelements of reflection resulting from this work and thus developed relate to aresearch problem which gave rise to a field investigation with 20 teachers inpractice in governorate of the city of Mahdia - Tunisia. The nineteenth-century French novel has long been seen as the heroic production of great men, who confronted in their works the social consequences of the French Revolution. And it is true that ...French realism, especially as developed by Balzac and Stendhal, was one of the most influential novelistic forms ever invented. Margaret Cohen, however, challenges the traditional account of the genesis of realism by returning Balzac and Stendhal to the forgotten novelistic contexts of their time. Reconstructing a key formative period for the novel, she shows how realist codes emerged in a "hostile take-over" of a prestigious contemporary sentimental practice of the novel, which was almost completely dominated by women writers. Cohen draws on impressive archival research, resurrecting scores of forgotten nineteenth-century novels, to demonstrate that the codes most closely identified with realism were actually the invention of sentimentality, a powerful aesthetic of emerging liberal-democratic society, although Balzac and Stendhal trivialized sentimental works by associating them with "frivolous" women writers and readers. Attention to these gendered struggles over genre explains why women were not pioneers of realism in France during the nineteenth century, a situation that contrasts with England, where women writers played a formative role in inventing the modern realist novel. Cohen argues that to understand how literary codes respond to material factors, it is imperative to see how such factors take shape within the literary field as well as within society as a whole. The book also proposes that attention to literature as a social institution will help critics resolve the current, vital question of how to practice literary history in the wake of poststructuralism.
Cet ouvrage collectif, qui rassemble des contributions originales, interroge les diverses facettes de « la mise en relief » dans la langue française, autant du point de vue théorique que descriptif. ...Il s'articule autour de trois thématiques principales: les structures grammaticales de mise en relief, les structures aux effets focalisants et la typologie des productions en lien avec les phénomènes de saillance. Il s'adresse aussi bien aux étudiants qu’aux enseignants-chercheurs intéressés par cet aspect grammatical et discursif de la langue.

My concern is the relationships between grammar and expressivity which have always remained represented a minority, if not a marginal, interest in linguistics. The paper deals with the construction ...'P, histoire de inf.' (Prends quelques jours de repos, histoire de te changer les idées 'take a few days' rest, just to have a break from everything'). It is shown, from a diachronic perspective, that the construction expresses an attitudinal meaning, the speaker's stance. The paper argues that, although expressivity and attitude meaning have usually been relegated to a secondary role by the prevailing formal grammatical approach to language, they have long been viewed as relatively important by certain linguists (for example, Bally). Expressivity is part of the grammatical system to a much larger degree than is usually presumed.

L'avenir du passé présente les résultats d'une vaste
enquête sur la mémoire et la conscience historique du Canada
français au sein de la jeunesse francophone du Québec et de
l'Ontario. L'enquête ...soulève la question du rapport que des jeunes
milléniaux entretiennent avec le passé des francophones au pays et
se dotent d'une vision narrative pour orienter leur vie de citoyen
et de membre d'une communauté d'appartenance. Plus de 600 récits
forment un corpus original qui met en perspective les résultats
obtenus au sein de chaque groupe. L'enquête permet de valider le
postulat selon lequel les participants de ces deux provinces
partagent un récit commun de l'histoire nationale et s'identifient
aux mêmes communautés d'appartenance.
L'ouvrage nous entraine également au cœur d'une vaste réflexion
sur la transmission de l'histoire nationale chez les jeunes en
contexte francophone canadien. Quelle place devrait occuper les
enquêtes comme celle-ci dans l'éducation historique des jeunes ?
Comment l'école peut-elle favoriser la construction d'une
conscience historique plus réfléchie et l'élaboration de narrations

In this ambitious and original study, Lynn Festa examines how and why sentimental fiction became one of the primary ways of representing British and French relations with colonial populations in the ...eighteenth century. Drawing from novels, poetry, travel narratives, commerce manuals, and philosophical writings, Festa shows how sentimentality shaped communal and personal assertions of identity in an age of empire.
Read in isolation, sentimental texts can be made to tell a simple story about the emergence of the modern psychological self. Placed in conversation with empire, however, sentimentality invites both psychological and cultural readings of the encounter between self and other. Sentimental texts, Festa claims, enabled readers to create powerful imagined relations to distant people. Yet these emotional bonds simultaneously threatened the boundaries between self and other, civilized and savage, colonizer and colonized. Festa argues that sentimental tropes and figures allowed readers to feel for others, while maintaining the particularity of the individual self. Sentimental identification thus operated as a form of differentiation as well as consolidation.
Festa contends that global reach increasingly outstripped imaginative grasp during this era. Sentimentality became an important tool for writers on empire, allowing conquest to be portrayed as commerce and scenes of violence and exploitation to be converted into displays of benevolence and pity. Above all, sentimental texts used emotion as an important form of social and cultural distinction, as the attribution of sentience and feeling helped to define who would be recognized as human.
Cet article retrace l’évolution du nouchi. Perçu à sa naissance, au début des années 80, comme un moyen d’expression propre aux voyous, au petits délinquants, le nouchi est peu à peu sorti de son ...cadre argotique pour connaitre une généralisation. On le retrouve aujourd’hui dans les discours publicitaires, les discours politiques, dans la musique, en situation de classe. Le nouchi est également employé sur les marchés, dans le secteur du transport. Il faut ajouter à cela des émissions radio -télévisées, des sites internet consacrés à la promotion du nouchi, sans oublier l’intérêt croissant de la recherche scientifique pour ce parler. La cerise sur le gâteau, le nouchi a intégré plusieurs dictionnaires. L’usage de plus en plus courant du nouchi par la population ivoirienne préfigure, de l’avis de certains observateurs, ce que l’on pourrait appeler le français de Côte d’Ivoire. Abstract This article traces the evolution of nouchi. Perceived at birth, in the early 80s, as a mean of expression specific to thugs, petty criminals, the nouchi is gradually out of his slang framework for generalization. It can be found today in commercial and political speeches, in music and class situation. Nouchi is also used in market and transport sector’s communication. To this, must be added radio and televised broadcasts, websites dedicated to the promotion of nouchi, without forgetting the growing interest of scientific research for this speech. The cherry on the cake, the nouchi has integrate several dictionaries .This increasing use of nouchi by the ivorian population foreshadow, in the opinion of some observers, what could be called french from Ivory coast.
Ces derniers temps, l’anglais fait une émergence remarquable dans le contexte algérien connu pour ses bains linguistique et culturel variés. L’objectif de notre travail est d’effectuer l’analyse des ...questionnaires présentés aux étudiants de l’université Ibn Khaldoun Tiaret portant sur l’anglais, qui remplace le français en Algérie. Notre article focalise la réactivité des étudiants à l’égard de l’anglais durant la dernière décennie. L’anglais a fini par rivaliser avec le français en s’installant officiellement cette année (2022/2023) à l’école algérienne à partir de la 3ème année primaire. La perception générale est que l’instauration de l’anglais en Algérie ravive les querelles linguistiques. Une série de questions se posent à ce propos : l’anglais prendra quelle position dans le pays ? Quelle sera sa valeur symbolique ? Que deviendra le français séculaire devant une langue mondialement parlée ? Comment l’anglais impactera-t-il le discours identitaire algérien ? Nous énonçons que les réponses collectées des étudiants se présentent comme une réalité de terrain à l’égard de l’anglais désireux de remplacer le français qui tire ses racines depuis la colonisation et l’instauration d’une nouvelle langue en Algérie. Une enquête sociolinguistique se chargera des résultats de cette nouvelle cohabitation linguistique pour montrer les réactions contradictoires qu’a suscitées cette décision gouvernementale.
