Although Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been widely applied to sports, not many studies are related to basketball. Two types of approaches have been developed to measure the efficiency in ...basketball so far: those focused on the assessment of players and those that assess the performance of the teams. Assuming that the number of points scored in a basketball game greatly influences the appeal of a game, in this paper, a new approach focused on the measurement of the scoring efficiency of the two teams that play a game is addressed. To do that, the performance of each team in each quarter and the carry-overs between successive quarters must be taken into account. This leads to a Dynamic Network DEA model with two subprocess (corresponding to the home and visitor teams) running in each quarter. A scoring efficiency can be computed for each team in each quarter as well as for each team overall, for each quarter overall and for the whole game. The proposed approach is applied to the matches played during the 2014-2015 NBA season.
Constant development and commercialization of football makes it somewhat compelling to look for proven solutions in order to determine both the represented players’ level of competence and the most ...important components of the effectiveness or efficiency of a game. Evolution of walking distance over the years directs attention towards the aerobic motor skills.In this report, there have been made attempts to determine the relationship between the effectiveness of the game and the endurance of the tested football players of the BSC Eintracht Südring Berlin club.The research covered a group of 22 players from the Berlin club. The tests were carried out in the autumn round of the 2018/2019 season in Berlin in the period from July to November 2018. The endurance was measured with the help of the Cooper Test, while the players’ performance was evaluated by the method of competent judges. The results of the study were statistically analyzed in the Statistica 13.1 program. Descriptive statistics were carried out, the minimum (min), maximum (max), average (X) and standard deviation (SD) values were calculated, and the coefficient correlation was determined.It was noted a significant correlation between the effectiveness of the game and the endurance.
Purpose. The purpose of the study was to examine game efficiency of elite wheelchair rugby players in consideration of International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) classification during the 2008 ...Paralympic Games played according to the old wheelchair rugby rules. Basic procedures. A group of 77 athletes representing 8 national teams participated in the study. Each team played 5 games for 32 min each. Athletes who played for more than 8 min in total at the 2008 Paralympics qualified for the study. The seven IWRF player point classes were collapsed into four groups. The game efficiency analysis was based on the IWRF Statistical Reports. The following six game efficiency parameters were analyzed: played time (T), sum of all points scored (PT), assist passes (AS), assist blocks (AB), turnovers (TO) and steals (ST). Main findings. The major finding of the study was that most differences in PT, AS, AB, TO and ST were found among all the examined groups (I-IV), except groups I and II. The played time (T) was not sensitive enough to identify significant differences among all the groups. This indicates that played time in the context of substitutions limited by classification point requirements does not reflect the differences between player classes. Conclusions. Generally, there was a tendency for highpoint class players to perform better. The study findings point to the importance of analysis of game efficiency of elite wheelchair rugby players with regard to their IWRF classification during tournaments played according to the new wheelchair rugby rules.
Elementi košarkaške tehnike u pravilu predstavljaju složenije motoričke kretnje o čijoj izvedbi ovisi situacijska efikasnost igrača tijekom igre. Sposobnost i znanje igrača povezati izvođenje ...elemenata košarkaške tehnike s ciljem rješavanja novonastalih situacija tijekom igre čine ključne segmente igračke uspješnosti. Skok šut kao element tehnike predmet je brojnih istraživanja, upravo iz činjenice da o njemu direktno ovisi efikasnost igrača u fazi napada. U ovom istraživanju cilj je utvrditi utječu li različite tehnike u završnoj fazi (zaustavljanje) otvaranja za prijem lopte na kinematičke parametre skok šuta. U istraživanju su sudjelovala 4 košarkaša, prosječne dobi 26,14 ± 4,68 godina. Za potrebe mjerenja 8 kinematičkih parametara korišten je sustav Xsens Awinda kao i 94 fifty smart sensor basketball ®. Dobiveni rezultati ukazuju na činjenicu da postoje statistički značajne razlike u promatranim kinematičkim parametrima kod skok šuta između sunožnog naskoka i dvokontaktnog prednjeg ili stražnjeg pivota, odnosno da igrači izvode u kraćem vremenskom intervalu skok šut nakon sunožnog naskoka kao i to da postižu veću brzinu kretanja TT po vertikalnoj ravnini i veću visinu s koje izvode skok šut u odnosu na završnu fazu otvaranja za prijem kroz dva kontakta.
