Purpose- There are numerous online websites for buying products and services today. The challenge for marketers is to adopt the pull strategy, which attracts customers to the website and creates ...additional sales. This strategy can materialise only when innovation is brought in. A landing page on the web is considered to be the initial entry point for creating innovation. The current research paper emphasises the importance of creating a landing page for bringing innovation that caters to the four generations. Design/method /approach-400 responses were obtained equally from male and female respondents of each generational category except the alpha generation. Data was collected through a survey using Google forms. The structural equation model was used for analysis, and generational age was considered the moderator. Findings-There is a gradual shift in the generational pattern of perceiving and understanding technology to buy from the website. Being tech-savvy, in the case of generation Z the impact of perceived interactivity in creating purchase intention is very strong, followed by generation Y and generation X. Practical implications-Age plays a huge role in understanding the landing page leading to better purchase intention. Hence it is evident that a landing page that caters to all generations unambiguously has to be considered by marketers to boost sales. Originality /value- The research results suggest that every generation seeks exclusivity on the landing page. So, generation-based perceived interactivity features on the landing page can attract all generations.
Bound states in the continuum (BICs) have been extensively studied in various systems since they are first proposed in quantum mechanics. Photonic BICs can enable optical mode confinement and provide ...field enhancement for nonlinear optics, but they have rarely been explored in nonlinear integrated photonic waveguides. Applying BICs in photonic integrated circuits enables low‐loss light guidance and routing in low‐refractive‐index waveguides on high‐refractive‐index substrates, which is suitable for integrated photonics with nonlinear materials. Here, second‐harmonic generation from telecom to near‐visible wavelengths is experimentally demonstrated on an etchless lithium niobate platform by using a photonic BIC for the second‐harmonic mode. The devices feature second‐harmonic conversion efficiency of 0.175% W−1 cm−2 and excellent thermal stability with a wavelength shift of only 1.7 nm from 25 to 100 °C. These results represent a new paradigm of nonlinear integrated photonics on a cost‐effective and convenient platform, which can enable a broad range of on‐chip applications such as optical parametric generation, signal processing, and quantum photonics.

A challenge for energy market operators (EMOs) is to render a cost-effective generation schedule, known as unit commitment (UC), for the power system with intermittent renewable power generations. ...Consolidating the risk management concept and robustness into the UC not only helps EMO to maintain the secure operation of power systems but also informs the EMO about the tail-risk cost. Based on this motivation, the authors have proposed a model for UC with worst-case conditional value-at-risk (UC-WCVaR) with intermittent solar generations and loads. Unlike intractable risk-averse stochastic UC models, this model minimises the worst-case CVaR of the dispatch cost over an ambiguity set of the probability distributions. This robust tractable model relies on the historical data that can partially characterise the underlying probability distributions of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and loads. They solved this model by its equivalent tractable robust counterpart using linear decision rules. The tests conducted on the IEEE 118-bus test system demonstrate that: (i) UC-WCVaR solution matches the results derived from normally distributed solar samples; (ii) the UC-WCVaR is less conservative than the classic robust unit commitment. Also, the computation time is directly proportional to the number of uncertain resources and inversely proportional to the number of stages.
A nonlinear optical (NLO) carbonatoperoxovanadate, Rb3VO(O2)2CO3, was synthesized through a simple solution‐evaporation method in phase‐pure form. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction revealed that the ...structure of Rb3VO(O2)2CO3 consists of important noncentrosymmetric (NCS) chromophores, that is, π‐delocalized (CO3)2− groups, a second‐order Jahn–Teller (SOJT) distortive V5+ cation, and π‐localized distorted O22− groups, as well as charge‐balancing polarizable Rb+ ions. The powder second‐harmonic generation (SHG) measurements indicated that Rb3VO(O2)2CO3 is phase‐matchable (Type I) and exhibits a remarkably strong SHG response circa 21.0 times that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP), which is the largest efficiency observed among carbonate NLO materials. First‐principles calculation analysis suggests that the extremely large SHG response of Rb3VO(O2)2CO3 is attributed to the synergistic effect of the cooperation of all the constituting NCS chromophores.

Strong nonlinear light–matter interaction is highly sought-after for a variety of applications including lasing and all-optical light modulation. Recently, resonant plasmonic structures have been ...considered promising candidates for enhancing nonlinear optical processes due to their ability to greatly enhance the optical near-field; however, their small mode volumes prevent the inherently large nonlinear susceptibility of the metal from being efficiently exploited. Here, we present an alternative approach that utilizes a Fano-resonant silicon metasurface. The metasurface results in strong near-field enhancement within the volume of the silicon resonator while minimizing two photon absorption. We measure a third harmonic generation enhancement factor of 1.5 × 105 with respect to an unpatterned silicon film and an absolute conversion efficiency of 1.2 × 10–6 with a peak pump intensity of 3.2 GW cm–2. The enhanced nonlinearity, combined with a sharp linear transmittance spectrum, results in transmission modulation with a modulation depth of 36%. The modulation mechanism is studied by pump–probe experiments.
With unique valley‐dependent optical and optoelectronic properties, 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDCs) are promising materials for valleytronics. Second‐harmonic generation (SHG) in 2D ...TMDCs monolayers has shown valley‐dependent optical selection rules. However, SHG in monolayer TMDCs is generally weak; it is important to obtain materials with both strong SHG signals and a large degree of polarization. In the work, a variety of inversion‐symmetry‐breaking (3R‐like phase) TMDCs (WSe2, WS2, MoS2) atomic layers, spiral structures, and heterostructures are prepared, and their SHG polarization is studied. Through circular‐polarization‐resolved SHG experiments, it is demonstrated that the SHG intensity is enhanced in thicker samples by breaking inversion symmetry while maintaining the degree of polarization close to unity at room temperature. By studying TMDCs with different twist angles and the spiral structures, it is found that there is no significant effect of multilayer interlayer interaction on valley‐dependent SHG. The realization of strong SHG with high degree of polarization may pave the way toward a new platform for nonlinear optical valleytronics devices based on 2D semiconductors.

Continuous increase in world’s population, rapid industrialization, urbanization, and economic growth force for continuously increase in fossil fuel consumption to meet growing energy demand. ...Continuous emissions from burning of fossil fuel will create the need to find the appropriate and sustainable replacement for fossil fuels. Biodiesel is appropriate alternate solution for diesel engine due to its renewable, non-toxic and eco-friendly nature. According to EASAC biodiesel evolution is classified into four generations. Cultivation in arid and semi arid land or water, crop yield, effect on food supply, yield of biodiesel, energy content, carbon-neutral economy, easy availability, and economic viable are the main factors behind the evolution of biodiesel generations. This article highlights a comprehensive assessment of various feedstocks used for different generation biodiesel production with their advantages and disadvantages. Different production methods for biodiesel with yield calculation are also explained. Algae based third generation feedstocks are better in comparison with first and second generation due to their high energy content, high oil content and less polluting nature. Forth generation of biodiesel produced from synthetic biology, which will enhance the various physiochemical properties of biodiesel to achieve carbon neutral economy. Among the all biodiesel production processes; transesterification is the most suitable process, because it produces biodiesel of high yield, comparable properties with diesel. This process is also feasible as per economic point of view. The energy demand of future can be met by the blending of different generation oil feedstocks.
