Mining areas can provide important information for interpreting the geodiversity and geological heritage of an area, which also results in the need for special attention to conservation in terms of ...inventory, impact studies, and recovery plans for degraded areas. The territory of the Seridó UNESCO Global Geopark, northeastern Brazil, has several mining districts linked to the production of scheelite, gold, gemstones, dimensional rocks, and kaolin. Thus, we aimed to assess the impact of mining on the geopark's geodiversity and geoheritage. Through cartographic analysis, mineral resources and mining areas were observed, overlapping with geodiversity mapping, geosites' proximity to exploration areas, and abiotic ecosystem services generated or interrupted by mining. The results showed a wide diversity of resources and different relationships between geodiversity hotspots, geosites, and mining areas. The mineral exploitation could be fundamental for sustainable development in the geopark, considering proper conditions of ecosystem services balancing, and adequate use of international geoheritage and geoconservation policies in active mining. Furthermore, the paper presented that abiotic nature should be considered in environmental impact assessments and mining restoration plans. The geopark management should continue to develop initiatives to take advantage of mineral resources to promote sustainability.

Cao Bang Geopark is one of three UNESCO heritage sites in Vietnam, with unique geological, landscape and cultural properties of high value to tourism. This study aims to provide a better ...understanding of the potential for geotourism development in Cao Bang Global Geopark, thereby proposing reasonable development strategies in the future. The research using the multi-criteria assessment and SWOT analysis tool found that Cao Bang Global Geopark has a high ability to attract tourists and exploit large tourism resources globally. However, the infrastructure, technical facilities, human resources and investment capital for geotourism are still limited and need to be improved. The research results can be considered useful references for academia and managers in finding strategies and solutions for sustainable geotourism development at Cao Bang Geopark in the future.
This study examined the effect of classroom wall design on pupils’ literacy in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State. Eighty primary two pupil’s in both private and public schools in ...Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State were selected to participate in this study, the simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. The research instrument titled Pupil’s Literacy Achievement Test (PLAT)was used for data collection. The research instrument was validated and tested for reliability. The reliability index of PLAT was determined using Pearson Product moment correlation (PPMC) which yielded (0.74) level of significance. Inferential statistics of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were used. Based on the findings, it shows that classroom wall design had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy, gender had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy, school type had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy, gender and school type had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy, interaction of gender and school type had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy, treatment and school type had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy, classroom wall design, gender and school type had no significant effect on pupil’s literacy in Ilorin East local government Area of Kwara State. It was concluded that learners should be encouraged to learn using classroom wall design, read the words on the wall design every day to improve their literacy.

Taking into account the general importance and the diversity of the topics considered in this book, the latter deserves the attention of the international research community. It should be highlighted that this geopark represents chiefly volcanic geoheritage, and, thus, the volume bears a lot of information about volcanism.
This paper discusses how the community of Taboãozinho has promoted the appreciation, dissemination, and conservation of paleontological heritage in its territory through the Pinheiro de Pedra ...geosite. The socio-spatial characteristics of the community in synergy with the geopatrimonial heritage and geoconservation give the tone of the singularity of the natural landscape and its territory. Through bibliographic and documental surveys, participative diagnosis, and interviews with local people, we identified factors that point to the process of cultural appropriation of the geosite by the community. We detected that the care with the fossil logs and the maintenance of the collection of legends, stories, and cultural manifestations about the "stone pines" are actions that culminate with the protection of heritage and its dissemination. Based on this study, educational and cultural valorization actions were promoted in partnership with other organizations, enabling advances in the development of geotourism and appreciation of the region's cultural heritage. The historical knowledge of the presence of fossil trunks, associated with legends, stories and cultural manifestations about the "stone pines", in addition to actions of care and conservation of the heritage are factors that point to a process of cultural appropriation by the community with the geosite.
The development of tourism activities in the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark has brought many tourists to visit the area. Along with increasing tourism activities, the risk of disasters in the geopark ...area has also increased. One thing that can be done to reduce disaster risk in the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark area is to utilize geoheritage as a learning medium for disaster risk reduction. In this study, we quantitatively described geoheritage by looking at its relationship with the priority actions of the Sendai framework. The results of the assessment of geological heritage values that have been carried out in 21 geosites of the geopark area show an interrelated relationship. Scientific, educational, tourism and degradation values of geoheritage sites have an important role in conveying information and messages related to disaster mitigation, which is in line with the objectives of Sendai's priority actions. Geological heritage sites can later be developed as an educational medium because it not only has accessibility capital, supporting facilities, good geological conditions, geological diversity, but also contains geological informationthat can be used for education and research. Developing geological disaster information within geoheritage sites in geopark areas, may be in the form of geotrails and geotourism activities with the theme of disaster mitigation and earth heritage, picture books for children based on site geoheritage information, especially those related to the introduction of geological disasters, ares also ideal to develop. A geological information center at the Batur Volcano Museum and other educational acivities that can be made within the geopark area.
Geopark adalah kawasan yang memadukan keunikan geologi, keanekaragaman hayati, dan keanekaragaman budaya yang dikelola untuk kebutuhan konservasi, pendidikan, dan pengembangan ekonomi masyarakat ...secara berkelanjutan. Keberadaan geopark ini telah membuka peluang dan juga menjadi peluang besar bagi masyarakat lokal. Provinsi Gorontalo memiliki potensi sumber daya alam yang paling besar untuk dikembangkan, dalam hal ini diperlukan kreativitas lokal untuk membangun upaya-upaya yang berkarakter khusus dan juga unik bagi dirinya sendiri. Geopark Gorontalo saat ini sedang mengalami perbaikan untuk pengembangan UMKM untuk menciptakan produk-produk inovatif terkait Geopark dan berkontribusi aktif terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami keberadaan geoproduk sebagai bagian dari UMKM dan mengetahui bagaimana strategi pengembangan geoproduk untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal dapat mendukung pengembangan geopark Gorontalo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data primer melalui observasi, wawancara, dan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari instansi terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa geoproduk merupakan salah satu langkah awal dalam mengembangkan UMKM untuk meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat, walaupun dalam pelaksanaannya masih terdapat kendala. Dalam kondisi ini, pemerintah daerah harus merumuskan strategi kebijakan pengembangan UMKM melalui geoproduk yaitu membenahi database, meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat, menciptakan inovasi, membuat branding geopark, mengoptimalkan penggunaan teknologi, kolaborasi pemangku kepentingan serta strategi promosi. Strategi kebijakan ini dirumuskan agar keberadaan geoproduk dapat mendukung geopark Gorontalo dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Method: The research methodology this study used qualitative research methods. Research with a qualitative paradigm is flexible and open by emphasizing inductive analysis (empirico inductive) (Suprayogo and Tabroni 2001: 161). Based on the research objectives to be achieved, this type of research is a case study type of research. This research is based on the type of case study, including the type of exploratory case study research. An exploratory approach seeks to find general information about a topic/problem that is not yet fully understood by researchers. In this research, the data collected consists of primary data and secondary data. Primary data sources are objects observed directly in the field and data obtained through interviewed informants. In this research, informants came from four sub-districts which are representatives of the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark, including the PAPSI and Palapah community groups, community leaders from four sub-districts, local government, academics, and figures who initiated the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark. This data is also accompanied by photo, image and map data to complement the primary data. Secondary data sources are in the form of documents or written sources in general, such as village monographs, population statistics, building inventories, natural conditions, and also about the history of the formation and development of the Ciletuh Geopark area. Secondary data is obtained from research results, journals, the internet and matters related to data needs. This secondary data is useful for researchers to understand more deeply the problem that is the object of research. In general, the techniques that can be used to collect data for this research are interviews, observation and documentation studies. An interview is a process of direct interaction or communication between the interviewer and the respondent. Results and conclusion: Based on the literature review and analysis the Ciletuh Geopark area is an area that has unique geological, biological and cultural potential that can be developed as a complete natural and cultural tourism destination that has comparative and competitive advantages. The dynamics of environmental communication that occur are aimed at ensuring that conservation aspects can run in balance and in line with aspects of community empowerment. Research implications: The findings of this research have implications for environmental communication which has an important role in efforts to empower and develop the community's economy so that it is more environmentally friendly and of course can be more targeted. Environmental communication provides opportunities for good interaction between various parties in community empowerment activities by equalizing perceptions of various environmental problems, so that the expected goals can be achieved with the active participation of the community in overcoming environmental problems in the Geopark area. Originality/value: This research contributes to existing literature by focusing on the intersection between environmental communication dynamics and regional development in the Indonesian context. By identifying obstacles and providing recommendations, this research offers insight into community empowerment activities by equalizing perceptions of various environmental problems in the Geopark area.
Santa Elena Peninsula is characterized by beautiful geological features, historical geoscientific knowledge, and mineral and tourism resources that could all be combined for the sake of community ...development. This article provides an overview of the Santa Elena Peninsula Geopark Project through the assessment of six areas that are considered by inhabitants and researchers possible geosites to foster geotourism. The methodology included: (i) a technical description and assessment of the areas of interest evaluating their geological relevance, representativeness, geotouristic prominence, geotouristic scientific interpretation, and conservation criteria; (ii) an assessment through questionnaires carried out on inhabitants; and (iii) a SWOT Plus analysis to propose strategies for promoting geotourism. Results show that the areas of interest are highly valued as geosites, since they integrate geodiversity, biodiversity, and sociocultural aspects. For example, Ancon is a historical icon of early oil exploitation, Baños de San Vicente is a natural spring of thermal water and mud volcano, and Anconcito has bituminous exudations of natural occurrence together with a spectacular landscape produced by erosion. Overall, 90% of these sites were proved to be of high and very high interest in scientific terms. Geotourism is believed to be beneficial for the inhabitants of the Santa Elena Peninsula with respect to education, valorization of resources, and the strengthening of cultural identity of communities.
Fernando de Noronha is an archipelago located in the Northeastern Region of Brazil that has special geodiversity and biodiversity. Aiming to value mainly its geological uniqueness, studies and ...actions are being carried out with a view of the possibility of its recognition as a UNESCO Global Geopark. This way, the objective of this article is to relate the geosites with the tourism in natural areas’ activities offered in the archipelago, aiming to contribute with a future planning strategy of the Project Geopark Fernando De Noronha. The boarding of this research is characterized as descriptive, explanatory and quali-quantitative, and as the research method the bibliographical and in loco research were used, based on the participant observation. It is concluded that it is possible to carry through activities in natural areas in almost all the geosites of the archipelago and although tourist activities focusing the geologic patrimony are not being effectively developed yet, there is a potential for the implantation of this new product.
Fernando de Noronha é um arquipélago localizado na Região Nordeste do Brasil que possui geodiversidade e biodiversidade especiais. Visando valorizar principalmente sua singularidade geológica, estudos e ações estão sendo realizados tendo em vista a possibilidade de seu reconhecimento como um UNESCO Global Geopark. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é relacionar os geossítios com as atividades de turismo em áreas naturais oferecidas atualmente no arquipélago, buscando contribuir com uma futura estratégia de planejamento do Projeto Geopark Fernando de Noronha. A abordagem desta pesquisa caracteriza-se como descritiva, explicativa e quali-quantitativa e como método de pesquisa foram utilizadas as pesquisa bibliográfica e in loco, que teve como base a observação participante. Conclui-se que é possível realizar atividades em áreas naturais em quase todos os geossítios do arquipélago e apesar de atividades turísticas enfocando o patrimônio geológico ainda não serem efetivamente desenvolvidas, há potencial para a implantação deste novo produto.
