Euthydemus is included neither in
by Diels–Kranz nor in
by Untersteiner nor in
by Laks and Most. Likewise, the great twentieth century works on the Sophists do not give space to him, at best ...mentioning him briefly. Yet Euthydemus is the author of a fragment, which was quoted by Plato in his
, and on which again there is no modern study. This paper sets out to study this fragment in depth, to review and discuss the various translations, both existing and possible, to study the context of Plato’s quotation, to clarify the exact meaning and the theoretical scope of this important fragment, and lastly to place Euthydemus in the Protagorean tradition, of which he is a notable product.
The research is devoted to the morphology that V.N. Ilyin developed in the work Static and Dynamics of Pure Form and other archival texts. Morphology is central to the philosophy of V.N. Ilyin, but ...it remains an unexplored subject. The article’s author explores the morphology of the philosopher from a historical and philosophical point of view. In addition to apparent influences (G.W. Leibniz, E. Husserl, N. Lossky), the article’s author revealed the connection of V.N. Ilyin’s ideas with the history of Western European philosophy and his attitude to medieval thinkers. The author considered how V.N. Ilyin understood and assessed his modern philosophy and its results by the middle of the twentieth century. V.N. Ilyin especially paid attention to phenomenology and its connection with morphology, analyzing phenomenology's influence on existential philosophy. In addition to phenomenology, V.N. Ilyin highly appreciated the intuitism of H. Bergson and N. Lossky. The third main philosophical direction in the twentieth century for V.N. Ilyin was religious philosophy (Neo-Thomists and followers of H. Bergson), which aimed at creating axiology, a new system of values. V.N. Ilyin sought to combine various philosophical ideas in the project of morphology based on logic and scientific methodology. He stated the need to reform formal logic and create “metalogic” that would be more consistent with the philosophical tasks of the twentieth century. The morphology of V.N. Ilyin is based on the idea of synthesis and focuses on creating universal science. The comparison of various philosophical ideas of the twentieth century with morphology makes it possible to understand better his philosophical worldview, the course of his reflections, and the meaning of the morphological project.

The article attempts a theoretical and methodological understanding of historical and demographic reconstructions in the context of “social history”. The parameters of the “demand” for the ...reconstruction of the past as a set of activities of the masses are shown. Historical experience is perceived in the context of unmotivated behavioral practices that lead to a procedural understanding of demographic trends. The principles and potential of such studies are analyzed; the humanitarian orientation of cognitive procedures is characterized. Examples of successful application of quantitative modeling in descriptions of historical processes are considered. Based on historiographical experience, the tasks of the historical-demographic approach in the study of the past are formulated. Important aspects of theorization are regional and local reconstructions as a potential for generalizations in general. “Demographic characteristics” are proposed to be evaluated both as a result and as a subject of event history. An attempt has been made to fit such studies into various historiographic contexts. The principles and mechanisms of organic/effective combination of “accurate” methods of demography with “conditions” of humanitarian knowledge in history are formulated. Possible ways of “mutual import” of techniques within the framework of the anthropological approach to the study of the past are demonstrated. Questions are raised about the limits of the application of such methods in the knowledge of the human past.
The paper addresses the epistemological and theoretical assumptions that underpin the concept of Work and Organizational Psychology as idiographic, situated, and transformative social science. ...Positioning the connection between uniqueness and generalization inside the debate around organization studies as applied approaches, the contribution highlights the ontological, gnoseological, and methodological implications at stake. The use of practical instead of scientific rationality is explored, through the perspective of a hermeneutic lens, underlining the main features connected to the adoption of an epistemology of practice. Specifically, the contribution depicts the configuration of the applied research as a relational practice, embedded in the unfolding process of generating knowledge dealing with concrete social contexts and particular social objects. The discussion of a case study regarding a field research project allows one to point out challenges and constraints connected to the enactment of the research process as a social accomplishment.
Le Petit Prince has inspired studies in various academic disciplines and its theoretical value has been recognized by important contemporary philosophers. This paper shows that Saint-Exupéry intends ...in this work to try a «way of seeing», a gnoseology capable of recovering the vision of the invisible realities that give meaning to human life. We will justify this reading from the Aristotelian poetic tradition updated in the theory and hermeneutical methodology of authors such as Paul Ricoeur and Alfonso López Quintás.
Abstract The present paper attempts to reconstruct some of the key presuppositions of the critique, with which Leonard Nelson (1882-1927) confronted the problematic of gnoseology. Nelson recognized ...the demand for a general criterium of the veracity of knowledge-this confirms also Victor Kraft's (1880-1975) interpretation-as the central question of all foundation of the possibility of knowledge.
