In this work, we review and describe our computational framework for solving multiphysics phase-field fracture problems in porous media. Therein, the following five coupled nonlinear physical models ...are addressed: displacements (geo-mechanics), a phase-field variable to indicate the fracture position, a pressure equation (to describe flow), a proppant concentration equation, and/or a saturation equation for two-phase fracture flow, and finally a finite element crack width problem. The overall coupled problem is solved with a staggered solution approach, known in subsurface modeling as the fixed-stress iteration. A main focus is on physics-based discretizations. Galerkin finite elements are employed for the displacement-phase-field system and the crack width problem. Enriched Galerkin formulations are used for the pressure equation. Further enrichments using entropy-vanishing viscosity are employed for the proppant and/or saturation equations. A robust and efficient quasi-monolithic semi-smooth Newton solver, local mesh adaptivity, and parallel implementations allow for competitive timings in terms of the computational cost. Our framework can treat two- and three-dimensional realistic field and laboratory examples. The resulting program is an in-house code named IPACS (Integrated Phase-field Advanced Crack Propagation Simulator) and is based on the finite element library deal.II. Representative numerical examples are included in this document.

Introduction: Traditional teaching of clinical skills in medical school commonly entails didactic teaching followed by practice sessions with Standardized Patients (SPs) for particular skills, such ...as the cardiovascular exam. To address the need for briefer and more concise reference guides from standard textbooks and to consolidate skills expectations, the University of Ottawa developed clinical skills handbooks for students. The purpose of this study was to evaluate students’ use of these handbooks in the pre-clinical and clinical years.
Methods: We distributed a survey to second, third, and fourth year medical students at the University of Ottawa from November 2016 to January 2017. The survey assessed how frequently students used the booklets and their opinions on the usefulness of the booklets as a learning tool.
Results: There were 121 respondents of 492 students eligible for the survey. Of the respondents, 96.7% claimed to have used the booklets, and 75% claimed it was their primary resource for physical exam skills education. The majority of pre-clinical students used the booklets when learning a physical exam – 65% almost always, and 97% at least sometimes. The majority of clinical students (also referred to as clerkship students) used the booklets when reviewing a physical exam – 25% almost always, and 64% at least sometimes. Most students used the booklets when studying for OSCEs – 65% almost always, and 94% at least sometimes.
Conclusions: Students at the University of Ottawa found the clinical skills handbooks to be a valuable resource during their medical training and for the majority, it was their most commonly used reference. These findings support the need for further development and use of these resources.
The article presents the theoretical aspects of teaching Polish history at schools from 1945 to 1994. The author emphasizes that the Poles undeniably are a nation whose identity and national ...character have been shaped to a great extent by tradition and history education. It has been proven that the national character is formed in the course of history and the factors contributing to it may be easily recognized. When the national character manages to specify itself it tends to stability and rejection or assimilation destructive influence. It turned out that of great importance is that the national character is never exclusively unique or uncommon; it is rather a combination of widespread features typical for many nations. These two trends of historical influence existed side by side despite their contrary character which was especially clear within fifty years. The formation of the historical consciousness of the contemporary Poles has been proudly influenced by the image of the interwar period of 1918-1939. The author concludes that the expansion of history propaganda function did not result in a change in social awareness of history. People rejected the official history (even reliably presented facts) since they still had in mind the practice of the Stalin period and the faults of the recent history; instead, they resorted to 'private' history which was frequently based on books of the 19th-century authors.

In this study, the Level-2 products of the Ocean and Land Colour Instrument (OLCI) data on Sentinel-3A are derived using the Case-2 Regional CoastColour (C2RCC) processor for the SentiNel Application ...Platform (SNAP) whilst adjusting the specific scatter of Total Suspended Matter (TSM) for the Baltic Sea in order to improve TSM retrieval. The L2 products were evaluated against in situ data from several dedicated validation campaigns (2016-2018) in the NW Baltic proper. All derived L2 in-water products were statistically compared to in situ data and the results were also compared to results for MERIS validation from the literature and the current S3 Level-2 Water (L2W) standard processor from EUMETSAT. The Chl-a product showed a substantial improvement (MNB 21%, RMSE 88%, APD 96%,

Besides documenting the evaluation of the C2RCC processor, this paper may also act as a handbook on the validation of Ocean Colour data.
