This paper maps into geographies of 'lively commodities', commodities whose value derives from their status as living beings. In an era where life itself has become a locus of capitalist ...accumulation, picking apart the category of 'liveliness' underpinning commodification has important analytical and geographical stakes. To this end, by tracking historical geographies of commodifying lions in political economies of ecotourism in India, this paper shows how more-than-human labour and lively potentials affect commodification and influence accumulation, not simply through recalcitrance, but as active participants within political economic organisation. The paper advances and develops a triad of relational concepts - nonhuman labour, encounter value, spectacular accumulation through which the political economic potency of lively commodities might be articulated and grasped. It concludes by discussing the analytical potential of this approach and its future purchase for rethinking commodity geographies.

Cultural geography is once again concerned with representations. In this report I focus on how, in the wake of various non-representational theories, recent work stays with what texts, images, words, ...and other representations do. I argue that this work is animated by a concern with the force of representations: their capacities to affect and effect, to make a difference. Accompanying this orientation to questions of force is a shift in the unit of analysis to ‘representations-in-relation’ and a multiplication of the modes of analysis through which cultural geography is performed, including the emergence of reparative and descriptive modes.

The recent diagnosis of the Anthropocene represents the public death of the modern understanding of Nature removed from society. It also challenges the modern science-politics settlement, where ...natural science speaks for a stable, objective Nature. This paper reviews recent efforts to develop ‘multinatural’ alternatives that provide an environmentalism that need not make recourse to Nature. Focusing on biodiversity conservation, the paper draws together work in the social and natural sciences to present an interdisciplinary biogeography for conservation in the Anthropocene. This approach is developed through an engagement with the critiques of neoliberal natures offered by political ecology.

Urban political ecology now finds itself at a crossroads between gradual marginalization or renewed intellectual impetus. Despite some recent critical re-evaluations of the field, there remain a ...series of conceptual tensions that have only been partially explored. I consider six issues in particular: the uncertain relations between urban political ecology and the biophysical sciences; the emergence of extended conceptions of agency and subjectivity; the redefinition of space, scale, and the urban realm; renewed interest in urban epidemiology; the delineation of urban ecological imaginaries; and finally, the emergence of evidentiary materialism as an alternative posthuman configuration to new materialist ontologies. I conclude that a conceptually enriched urban political ecology could play an enhanced role in critical environmental research.

The article deals with issues related to suburbanization processes. The first part presents the essence, conditions and consequences of these processes. The second part, on the other hand, contains ...an analysis of suburbanization processes that have taken place in the last twenty years in the suburban area of Poznań. Particular attention was paid to examining the quality and functionality of spatial development of housing estates and the motives for the settlement of the population in the municipalities of the suburban area. An analysis of changes in the development of suburbanization observed in the area of Poznań in the years 2000–2019 was also carried out on the basis of conducted surveys and statistical surveys.

Three waves in the development of animal geography and the place of animal geography in animal studies were discussed.
The subject of considerations in the presented article is the context of justification of geographical thinking of Andrzej Lisowski described in his book Concepts of space in human geography. When ...undertaking the discussion with the aforementioned work, the following thesis was adopted: space, although a necessary condition of a geographical point of view, is not a sufficient one, because time should be also taken into account. Therefore, only the interaction of space and time must be accepted as a necessary and sufficient condition for the geographical thinking. Selected literary works of fiction constituted the research materials which allowed to gather the arguments justifying the legitimacy of the thesis.
The paper presents reflections pertaining to the concept of the urban form and its reference processes of demolition and urban regeneration. The research allows to identify several types of ...relationships (both structural and functional) existing between the urban form and demolition and urban regeneration treated as multidimensional transformations, which aim to improve the quality of life of residents and stabilize the comfort of the use of urban areas.
