The gravure offset method has been developed toward an industrially viable printing technique for electronic circuitry. In order to obtain the optimum ink resin for printing lines of required ...thickness (>5 /spl mu/m) of narrow lines (down to 25 /spl mu/m), several ink resin systems have been assessed in previous studies by the authors. The best printed results were obtained with a novel ink using a hydrocarbon resin. This ink did not comply with the traditional ink transfer mechanism based on evaporation of the solvent, but with a postulated new "absorption mechanism.".
This paper reviews the technique of etching by photopolymer films,
developed within recent tendencies of less-toxic etching. Such process
allows etching without the need of acids, and significantly ...reduces the
finishing time, in comparison with traditional etching. It employs
photopolymer films, which are laminated in almost any surface. They
permit a wide arrange of materials to make plates, more versatile, light
and inexpensive than traditional metals. The photosensitive nature of
the film additionally allows the novel and easy incorporation of
photography and drawing as means of graphic expression. The text
includes basic scientific terms to understand the nature of polymers.
The goal is to serve as a practical guide for students and interested
artists. En este artículo se investigó la técnica de hueco grabado mediante film de
fotopolímero, que se desarrolló dentro de la reciente tendencia de grabado no
toxico . Con este proceso se puede realizar grabado en hueco sin necesidad de
usar ningún tipo de ácido o mordiente, el tiempo de elaboración es
significativamente menor que en las técnicas con mordida. Se trabaja con
fotopolímero en film, el cual es posible laminar en casi cualquier superficie. Lo
que permite tener una amplia gama de materiales para hacer planchas; más
versátiles, livianos y económicos que los metales tradicionales. La naturaleza
fotosensible del film, permite además incorporar de manera fácil y novedosa, la
fotografía y el dibujo como medio de expresión gráfica. En el desarrollo del texto
se incluyen términos científicos básicos para entender la naturaleza de los
polímeros. Pero el objetivo principal es que sirva como guía práctica, para
estudiantes y artistas interesados.

Tethered addresses the innate fear of forgetting where an individual’s family originates, both physically and historically. Not long after discovering that part of my family was almost completely ...annihilated during the Holocaust, I produced Tethered as visual documentation of the long-term effects of families of survivors. The exhibition is also influenced by my grandmother’s experiences as a Mauthausen concentration camp survivor and my own experiences being raised by a survivor. The knowledge of the imminent loss of memory initiates an instinct to repetitively record and remember personal history. Numerous memories have been forcefully buried in the darkest recesses of the minds of many family members—they continuously surface through communication with my mother and grandmother. As personal memory is collectively shared, psychological effects of the survivor pass on through storytelling. As artistic objects develop, I continue to search for threads between history, place, and identity as a way to demonstrate a new reality, a struggle, and a story. The books and prints in the exhibition symbolize the compilation and transportation of memory that is witnessed through sensory communication and observation. Fragility of memory and history is emphasized through the use of materials and construction of each object. Many of the objects reiterate the struggle to address what is missing or what will eventually disappear and never return. Other objects symbolize the residual effects of the past and how they are still present in family’s daily lives. The iconography of loss plays an important role in constructing each piece, creating a complex relationship between narration and symbolization. With each object, I attempt to grasp a lost identity and the haunting memories of experiences that are not fully understood.

This chapter outlines major developments in printing up to 1970, describing the ways in which the origination and multiplication of text and images have been undertaken in the three main categories ...of printing: relief, intaglio, and planographic. It also proposes a fourth category, direct printing, which encompasses methods in which application of ink to paper does not involve transfer of ink from a printing surface. In addition to commercial methods of printing, it covers the introduction of printing machines into the home and office during the twentieth century.
