Train-track-bridge dynamic interaction is a fundamental concern in the field of railway engineering, which plays an extremely important role in the optimal design of railway bridges, especially in ...high-speed railways and heavy-haul railways. This paper systematically presents a state-of-the-art review of train-track-bridge dynamic interaction. The evolution process of train-bridge dynamic interaction model is described briefly, from the simplest moving constant force model to the sophisticated train-track-bridge dynamic interaction model (TTBDIM). The modelling methodology of the key elements in the TTBDIM is systematically reviewed, including the train, the track, the bridge, the wheel-rail contact, the track-bridge interaction, the system excitation and the solution algorithm. The significance of detailed track modelling in the whole system is highlighted. The experimental research and filed test focusing on modelling validation, safety assessment and long-term performance investigation of the train-track-bridge system are briefly presented. The practical applications of train-track-bridge dynamic interaction theory are comprehensively discussed in terms of the system dynamic performance evaluation, the system safety assessment and train-induced environmental vibration and noise prediction. The guidance is provided on further improvement of the train-track-bridge dynamic interaction model and the challenging research topics in the future.

, a new, robust, high-resolution, low-power, miniature gesture sensing technology for human-computer interaction based on millimeter-wave radar. We describe a new approach to ...developing a radar-based sensor optimized for human-computer interaction, building the sensor architecture from the ground up with the inclusion of radar design principles, high temporal resolution gesture tracking, a hardware abstraction layer (HAL), a solid-state radar chip and system architecture, interaction models and gesture vocabularies, and gesture recognition. We demonstrate that Soli can be used for robust gesture recognition and can track gestures with sub-millimeter accuracy, running at over 10,000 frames per second on embedded hardware.

Heavy PM2.5 (particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter equal to or less than 2.5 μm) pollution and urban heat island (UHI) pose increasing threats to human health and living environment in ...populated cities. However, how PM2.5 pollution affects the UHI intensity (UHII) has not been fully understood. The impacts of PM2.5 on the wintertime UHII in the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei megalopolis of China are explored during 2013–2017. The results show that the UHII at the time of daily maximum/minimum temperature (UHIImax/UHIImin) exhibits a decreasing/increasing tendency as PM2.5 concentration increases, causing a continuous decrease in the diurnal temperature range. These effects are mediated via aerosol‐radiation interaction (aerosol‐cloud interaction) under clear‐sky (cloudy) condition. The changes in PM2.5 concentration further cause different relative trends of UHIImax/UHIImin/diurnal temperature range across different cities in the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei region, which are likely related to the differences in both the PM2.5 composition and city size. This study provides insights on how air pollution affects urban climate and would help to design effective mitigation strategies.

A detailed understanding of the relationship between PM2.5 (particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter equal to or less than 2.5 μm) and the urban heat island (UHI) effect is significant for climate change adaption, planning, and sustainable development in urban regions. While the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei (BTH) megalopolis of China is among the areas with the highest population densities and fastest urbanization rates in the world, the impacts of PM2.5 pollution on UHI, along with their regional differences in the BTH megalopolis, remain unclear. This study demonstrates that different PM2.5 concentrations in the BTH region pose various influences on the UHI intensities and their change rates in different cities of varying sizes. The UHI intensities during daytime and nighttime, respectively, exhibit weakening and strengthening tendency as PM2.5 concentration increases. These effects are mediated via aerosol‐radiation interaction under clear‐sky condition and aerosol‐cloud interaction in cloudy weather. The relative changes in the UHI magnitudes were mainly determined by PM2.5 composition and city size. The asymmetrical influences of PM2.5 on the daytime and nighttime UHI intensities caused continuous decreases in the diurnal temperature ranges in the urban areas as the pollution level increased. Our study improves the understanding of urban climate affected by air pollution and provides a scientific basis for the mitigation of UHI impacts.

Identification of drug-target interactions acts as a key role in drug discovery. However, identifying drug-target interactions via in-vitro, in-vivo experiments are very laborious, time-consuming. ...Thus, predicting drug-target interactions by using computational approaches is a good alternative. In recent studies, many feature-based and similarity-based machine learning approaches have shown promising results in drug-target interaction predictions. A previous study showed that accounting connectivity information of drug-drug and protein-protein interactions increase performances of prediction by the concept of 'guilt-by-association'. However, the approach that only considers directly connected nodes often misses the information that could be derived from distance nodes. Therefore, in this study, we yield global network topology information by using a random walk with restart algorithm and apply the global topology information to the prediction model.
As a result, our prediction model demonstrates increased prediction performance compare to the 'guilt-by-association' approach (AUC 0.89 and 0.67 in the training and independent test, respectively). In addition, we show how weighted features by a random walk with restart yields better performances than original features. Also, we confirmed that drugs and proteins that have high-degree of connectivity on the interactome network yield better performance in our model.
The prediction models with weighted features by considering global network topology increased the prediction performances both in the training and testing compared to non-weighted models and previous a 'guilt-by-association method'. In conclusion, global network topology information on protein-protein interaction and drug-drug interaction effects to the prediction performance of drug-target interactions.
