Language data available through social media provide opportunities to study people at an unprecedented scale. However, little guidance is available to psychologists who want to enter this area of ...research. Drawing on tools and techniques developed in natural language processing, we first introduce psychologists to social media language research, identifying descriptive and predictive analyses that language data allow. Second, we describe how raw language data can be accessed and quantified for inclusion in subsequent analyses, exploring personality as expressed on Facebook to illustrate. Third, we highlight challenges and issues to be considered, including accessing and processing the data, interpreting effects, and ethical issues. Social media has become a valuable part of social life, and there is much we can learn by bringing together the tools of computer science with the theories and insights of psychology.
This paper investigates the active role of materials in shaping ideation processes during interdisciplinary studio-based collaborations. Using ethnographic data collected from a graduate-level course ...conducted across multiple studio settings, we analysed how materiality facilitates interactions between students and studio instructors meeting for the first time when creative ideas are not yet fully formed and knowledge of unfamiliar materials is not yet embodied. The findings elucidate how certain materials are central to (1) demonstrating, (2) understanding, (3) sharing, (4) explaining, (5) generating and (6) challenging aspects related to ideation processes within such interactions. We conclude this work by emphasising the need for further research that focuses on material mediation in the context of student–instructor relationships.
Integrated human-Earth system models could be a useful tool for interdisciplinary collaboration on sustainability issues. However, it is challenging to integrate all disciplines equally. Considering ...modeling frameworks as boundary objects could help. In this perspective, a modeling
framework, while clearly defined in its basic function, could be adapted and reinterpreted by researchers from different disciplines according to their specific contexts and questions, yet the framework still remains a common reference point behind these different adaptations. This flexibility
and plasticity could contribute to the evolution of the modeling framework itself. The authors discuss how this might look, using the copan:CORE framework as an example.
Background: Homelessness is a growing concern in the US, with 3.5 million people experiencing it annually and 600,000 on any given night. Homeless individuals face increased vulnerability to 30-day ...hospital readmissions and higher mortality rates, straining the healthcare system and exacerbating existing disparities. This study aims to inform neurosurgeons on evidence-based strategies to reduce readmission and mortality rates among homeless patients by reviewing the literature on the impact of medical respite on 30-day readmission rates. The study aims to gauge the efficacy of medical respite in reducing hospital readmissions and improving health outcomes for homeless individuals. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across PubMed, Embase/Medline, and Cochrane databases, as well as consulting the National Institute for Medical Respite Care and the Department of Health Care Access and Information. Ten articles were chosen from an initial 296 to investigate the impact of respite programs on readmission rates among homeless patients. Results: Homeless patients experience high readmission rates due to various factors. Interventions such as respite programs and a comprehensive approach to healthcare can lower these rates. Collaboration between hospitals and medical respites has proven particularly effective. Conclusion: Inadequate healthcare for homeless individuals leads to increased readmissions, longer hospital stays, and higher costs. Medical respites are a viable solution, but limited resources hamper their effectiveness. Therefore, it is crucial to facilitate cooperation between hospitals, respites, and other entities. Future research should focus on disparity in neurosurgical procedures and explore alternative services. An interdisciplinary approach is key to addressing healthcare inequalities.

Dialogue is traditionally a means of making complex knowledge understandable. Unlike debate or discussion, dialogue is not about being right, but about establishing connections. This special issue of ...Locus Scholarly Journal focuses on the tension between the promise of dialogue and the practice of dialogue. Specifically, we do so in relation to interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is an emerging imperative in music education, but current understanding of global practices remains limited. Prior studies have focused narrowly on specific programs ...within limited geographic areas. However, there is minimal quantitative mapping of initiatives across institutions and regions. Contextual insights explaining regional variations are also scarce. Hence, this study aims to address these gaps by conducting a comprehensive analysis of interdisciplinary programs, partnerships, events, and publications across leading global music institutions using a mixed methods approach. The analysis reveals significant diversity in models and determinants of productivity across regions. For instance, while Europe leads in formal integration and research output, North America prioritizes technology-enabled innovation through media and emerging tools. Partnerships are ubiquitous but focus areas and curricular integration vary. The findings reveal significant diversity in interdisciplinary education practices and formats worldwide, implying a need for contextualized implementation aligned to institutional strengths rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, as music education evolves, tailored interdisciplinary strategies that blend local priorities with global best practices are recommended to creatively nurture multifaceted skills and maximize potential for innovation. Thus, this research contributes an invaluable knowledge base to inform evidence-based, nimble policies and frameworks for cultivating cutting-edge, socially engaged musicians and ventures worldwide.
The Anthropocene signifies a monumental transformation where human influence on Earth's biophysical systems has become undeniable, necessitating a new perspective on environmental management, ...especially for critical areas like coastal zones. These regions, poised at the intersection of land and sea, are increasingly impacted by anthropogenic pressures ranging from overfishing and pollution to extreme urbanization, and climate change effects such as sea-level rise and intensified storm events. Thus, effective and sustainable management of the coastal zone has never been more paramount. The Coastal Zone Management (CZM) approach offers a solution with its dynamic, iterative, and collaborative processes aimed at sustainable use and protection of coastal zones. Yet, CZM implementation in the Anthropocene is fraught with challenges such as enhanced integration among varied jurisdictional boundaries and legislative frameworks, stakeholder conflicts, socioeconomic pressures, and rapid environmental changes. However, the Anthropocene, despite the challenges it poses, also provides opportunities for innovation, learning, and adaptation in CZM. With its roots in the principles of integration and precaution, CZM encourages a holistic understanding of issues and emphasizes proactive and preventive action, making it well-suited to manage uncertainties in this time. To cope with CZM challenges, strategies should emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, adaptive management, stakeholder engagement, policy integration and coordination, sustainable financing, building resilience, and capacity building and education. In the face of the Anthropocene, it's imperative to embrace an anticipatory approach to coastal management, capable of predicting and preemptively addressing future challenges. As we navigate the Anthropocene, our focus should not only be on conservation, but also on finding ways to coexist harmoniously with our environment, ensuring sustainable and resilient coastal zones for future generations.
