Can cultural progress be held back by linguistic limitations? Architect and educator Marjan Colletti, cofounder of London practice MAM‐arch, examines the nouns, adjectives and adjectival compounds ...used by the architectural profession during the first and second digital turns. He reflects on how restricted vocabularies can cause initially forward‐looking concepts to descend into the realm of doctrine and ‘‐isms’, and argues that true advancement requires constant evolution of the language employed to describe it.

It is argued that partisans of Frankfurt examples can still make a powerful case for the view that being able to do otherwise, even on Vihvelin's compatibilist explication of ‘could have done otherwise,’ is not required for moral responsibility.
Özet: Yakup Kadri'nin (Karaosmanoğlu) Nur Baba romanının
1921'de Akşam gazetesinde tefrikasına başlanmış, fakat toplumun bazı
kesimlerinden gelen tepkiler üzerine tefrika yarıda kalmıştır. 1922'de
...kitap hâlinde yayımlanan roman, yine tepkilerle karşılaşmıştır. Hakkında
olumlu ve olumsuz görüşler ileri sürülen Nur Baba romanı sinema
filmine çekilmek istenmiş, bu defa da film seti basılarak filmin çekilmesine
engel olunmak istenmiştir. Toplumun değişik kesimlerinde ve
edebiyat adamlarında akis uyandıran roman, sonunda Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk'ün de dikkatini çeken bir eser olmuştur. Nur Baba, aynı zamanda
yurt dışında da akis yaratmıştır. Bu makalede Nur Baba romanının
yayımlanışıyla ortaya çıkan akisler araştırma ve inceleme konusu
yapılacaktır.
Abstract: In 1921 the Akşam newspaper began to publish Yakup
Kadri (Karaosmanoğlu)'s novel Nur Baba (Father Nimbus) in the form
of installments, but publication was discontinued shortly after because
of a variety of reactions that the installments received from certain
fractions in society. The work received similar reactions when it was
published in book form in 1922. Later on when a film adaptation of
Nur Baba was being made, the film set was attacked to prevent the
shooting of the film. This novel, which caused a variety of reactions in
different sections of society, eventually drew the attention of Mustafa
Kemal Atatürk as well. The novel also engaged some attention abroad.
This article looks into the variety of reactions caused by the publication
of Nur Baba.
