In the Fourth Hour of the Great Amduat, the group of deities 325 to 328 are identified as forms of Orion, Sothis and the planet Venus in disguise. This leads to some general observations on Venus and ...to a lesser extent Mercury within Egyptian Religious Astronomy. As the scene in question is one of only three that is made up of complete figures in red ink in the version of Thutmosis III, it is investigated what might link these three scenes. Ultimately, a possible connection to issues of time measurement is proposed.
Another one of these three scenes in red ink is in the Fifth Hour. It concerns figures 396 to 399 holding four crowns on their knees. This scene provides some ties with conceptions prominent for example in Edfu. The four crowns together form the
-crown often attested for Horus of Edfu. As the astral form of this god is Venus, the Fourth and Fifth Hours prove to be closely bonded.
As a socially, politically, and economically complex community, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes faced numerous financial difficulties. In order to enable the state to function smoothly, ...revive and develop economic activities, and allow citizens to meet their daily needs, it was necessary to establish a unified financial system. The elements of this system, particularly the establishment (or redefinition) of a central bank, expanding its network by incorporating branches of the Austro-Hungarian Bank to facilitate payment transactions, controlling the kronen and replacing them with new national currency, and implementing measures to stabilize the dinar, will be examined by the authors through the analysis of literature and primary archival sources.
To evaluate the effect of cement gap and drill offset on the marginal and internal fit discrepancies of crowns designed with different tooth preparations.
Five tooth preparations were constructed, ...and crowns with different cement gaps and drill offset were obtained. Then, best-fit-alignment was performed on the crowns with the corresponding tooth preparations, and the fit discrepancies were expressed by the color-code difference images and root mean square (RMS) values. The RMS values of each group were analyzed by the rank-based Scheirer-Ray-Hare test (α=0.05).
The color segments in the sharp line angles area of the Sharp line angles group changed significantly before and after the drill offset. The cement gap had a significant effect on the marginal, internal, or overall fit discrepancies of the five design groups (P<0.001), while the drill offset had a significant effect on the marginal fit discrepancies of the Shoulder-lip group and the internal or overall fit discrepancies of the Sharp line angles group (P<0.001). Additionally, the interaction effect between cement gap and drill offset was significant for the marginal fit discrepancies of the Shoulder-lip group and the internal or overall fit discrepancies of the Sharp line angles group (P<0.01).
The cement gap and drill offset had a significant adverse effect on the marginal or internal fit discrepancies in the crowns designed with the shoulder-lip and sharp line angles designs. Designs of tooth preparation with intense curvature changes such as shoulder-lip and sharp line angles should be avoided clinically.
Relevance. The creation of the peach gene pool should be directed taking into account the specifics of the winter conditions of the subtropics of Russia.Methods. The aim of the research is to study ...the biological characteristics, phenological phases of peach varieties, their growth and development to optimize the distribution of plantings in industrial peach plantations in the conditions of South Dagestan. Long-term studies were carried out in 2015-2018 using generally accepted programs and classical methods of variety research and selection research.Results. The dates and durations of the passage of the main phenological phases of the development of introduced peach varieties are determined. Flower buds swell in 21 days, flower buds bloom in 7 days, flowering in 8 days, fruit ripen in 10 days. The expediency of peach cultivation in the southern lowland zone of the Republic of Dagestan is established. Resistance to various abiotic stress factors of the environment in modern conditions of climate change is determined. The relationship between the stages of the phenological phases and the calendar variability of these stages depending on the accumulation of the sum of effective temperatures are revealed; set biometric features of tree growth. This makes it possible to isolate varieties with moderate growth for compacted peach plantings in the conditions of Southern Dagestan.

The annals of theAnglo-Saxon Chronicleare fundamental to the study of the language, literature, and culture of the Anglo-Saxon period. Ranging from the ninth to the twelfth century, its five primary ...manuscripts offer a virtually contemporary history of Anglo-Saxon England, contribute to the body of Old English prose and poetic texts, and enable scholars to document how the Old English language changed.
InFamilies of the King, Alice Sheppard explicitly addresses the larger interpretive question of how the manuscripts function as history. She shows that what has been read as a series of disparate entries and peculiar juxtapositions is in fact a compelling articulation of collective identity and a coherent approach to writing the secular history of invasion, conquest, and settlement. Sheppard argues that, in writing about the king's performance of his lordship obligations, the annalists transform literary representations of a political ethos into an identifying culture for the Anglo-Saxon nobles and those who conquered them.
For modeling the rate of deposition of cohesive flocs in estuaries the Krone equation is extensively used. It was derived from flume experiments on muddy sediment from the San Francisco Bay, and is ...applicable to low suspended sediment concentration environments in which shear-induced aggregation – the growth and break up of flocs – has a limited role. It is shown that the use of this equation can lead to erroneous estimates of the mass deposition flux at typically higher estuarine concentrations. Krone's own experimental data permit the development of a more general equation accounting for the effects of concentration and turbulent shear rate on aggregation. These effects are dramatically observed in a deposition test in which a wire mesh was inserted in the flow to change the turbulent shearing rate and increase deposition. Even with the inclusion of aggregation effect in the general equation, field-based observations from San Francisco Bay suggest that typical flumes generally may not meet the space and time scaling requirements for field application of laboratory data. Thus, although the Krone equation should be eschewed in favor of the general equation, interpretations of model-predicted deposition rate must not be accepted without robust field-based verification.
•Krone's deposition equation derived from flume experimental data and is widely used.•Krone's eqn can give erroneous estimates of mass deposition flux at high turbidity.•Inclusion of aggregation effects in the general Krone eqn still produced errors.•In situ data suggest flumes may not meet scaling requirements for field application.•Assessment shows model-predicted deposition rates need robust field-verification.
