System identification problems can be efficiently addressed by exploiting some specific characteristics of the impulse responses. In this paper, we focus on the identification of systems that own ...intrinsic symmetric and antisymmetric properties. Such impulse responses can be modeled based on a combination of bilinear forms, which can be further identified using customized algorithms. In this framework, we propose an iterative Wiener filter tailored for such models. As compared to the conventional Wiener filter, the iterative version is able to achieve significantly better results, especially when a small amount of data is available for the estimation of the required statistics.
Aesthetic considerations in dental treatment are directly related to the sentiments and opinions of the patient. Aesthetics has been a crucial factor for fixed rehabilitations, but nowadays removable ...partial dentures also show great interest in satisfying the aesthetic requirements. Tooth selection, teeth arrangement, and the compatibility of the artificial tooth with face structure are known to affect aesthetics in removable partial dentures. In addition to these, poor design of clasp systems can be the major impairment factors in structural components of these dentures. Although development of precision attachments, and the clasp systems, it is unable to obtain satisfying aesthetic with removable partial dentures. In this study, we present a case report that describes the rehabilitation of a patient with a polyamide (PA6.6) denture base resin in order to remedy both the functional and aesthetic considerations.
This article draws upon the work of Rogers Brubaker and Alexander Motyl in order to analyse the challenge posed by the Congress of Russian Communities (KRO), a Russian nationalist organisation aiming ...to reunite all Russians in an expanded Russian state. It is argued that the Tsarist and Soviet past structure relationships among the post-Soviet states in ways that both promote Russian homeland nationalism, and place limits on it: while Russian policy has been driven towards claiming responsibility for `compatriots abroad', the post-Soviet states have tended to recognise each other's sovereignty in order to boost their legitimacy and prevent geopolitical destabilisation. Following discussion of the theoretical frame, the historical context and issues of Russian identity, the article focuses on the KRO's attempts to expand Russia's borders. First, its ideology, and particularly the radical commitment to national reunification, is discussed. Secondly, the KRO's attempts to promote geopolitically radical national minority stances among Russians outside the Russian Federation (particularly in Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Estonia) and homeland stances within it (through lobbying and electoral politics) are examined. These attempts have been generally unsuccessful. The KRO is also distinguished from its two major competitors, the Liberal Democratic Party of Vladimir Zhirinovksy, and the Communist Party. It is concluded that radical Russian nationalist organisations such as the KRO are unlikely to be able to challenge the post-Soviet geopolitical status quo in the absence of more aggressive nationalising policies towards Russian minorities and official Russian backing.

Terrorism is a persistent global threat today. It is extremely hard to predict where and how an attack can take place as it practically knows no border, nationality or religion. Efficient screening ...and appropriate security measures are therefore essential for protecting buildings and objects during largely attended events. Since this is an expensive operation, an optimal use of human resources is needed to prevent it and minimize the damage. In this work, we study a model of a building with multiple distinct rooms and a single terrorist who can move between the rooms. The terrorist can activate a bomb in different rooms depending on the crowd occupancy of the room. There are under cover policemen who are moving and protecting the object by trying to capture the terrorist. We propose a model using an absorbing Markov chain where the absorbing states are when either when the terrorist is captured or he activates the bomb. The transient analysis of the Markov chain will derive the probabilities that the terrorist succeeds (activates the bomb) or fails (gets intercepted by the law enforcement). It will also derive the average time to success or defeat. The goal is to maximize the probability of capturing the criminal and minimize the capture time.
This paper focuses on investigating the problems of matrix representations of adjoint and anti-adjoint operators as well as computations for these matrices in multi-spin 1/2 systems. By introducing a ...multi-index transformation mapping, adjoint and anti-adjoint operators on tensor space as well as their matrix representations are defined to describe dynamics of multi-spin 1/2 systems. Formulas for computing these matrices of the adjoint and anti-adjoint operators in multi-spin 1/2 systems are given in terms of matrix representations of the adjoint and anti-adjoint operators in single-spin 1/2 systems.

The article deals with the experience of Gulag as reflected in Jaan Kross’s fiction, memoirs and letters from the camp, focusing on its fictional representation in his short stories. The article ...argues that Kross conveys his experience by using the conventions of the picaresque novel: a loose plot that is based on lucky coincidences and satire that is meant to criticise the power relations in the society. By comparing Kross’s representation to the canonical text about Soviet camp experience by Solzhenitsyn and Shalamov, the article shows that the picaresque key chosen by Kross is linked to his techniques of moral survival in the camp, and is therefore unable to capture the dehumanising impact of Soviet labour camps and the ethical dilemmas it posed to its inhabitants. In the second part of the article, by way of Kross’s intertextual links to German Holocaust literature, his representation is placed in the context of a wider a debate about the representation of extreme historical violence in the 20th century. In summarising a debate between Rolf Hochhuth and Theodor Adorno about the role of the individual, its agency and responsibility in the face of a violent system, the article argues that Kross’s picaresque key in his representation of Gulag is linked to his underlying humanism and the belief in the moral strength of the individual even in the grip of state terror.
