Hace años que desde el Máster de Turismo de la Universidad de Huelva se viene utilizando un simulador de negocios basado en la gestión de una cadena hotelera, y su uso está siendo un éxito. Aún así, ...este estudio analizó la satisfacción de estos estudiantes y trató de identificar puntos de mejora en el éxito de la implementación y uso de este simulador. Para ello, se realizó un estudio casual entre los estudiantes del máster que permitió observar cuáles son los factores más determinantes de este éxito y señalar puntos de mejora, con el fin de seguir fortaleciendo el uso de esta herramienta en el programa formativo. Este estudio concluyó que el factor más determinante es la utilidad percibida, y que fortalecer el factor disposición de información fortalecería al factor utilidad percibida, por lo que se sugiere revisar la información existente sobre el uso del simulador en la web del máster y agregar información si se ve conveniente.
This article compares outcomes in the Norwegian labour market for non-Western immigrants and majority colleagues with professional or master's degrees within three different fields of study: health ...science, social science and natural science. Professions have a higher degree of occupational closure, which may entail that non-Western immigrants with relevant educations achieve economic parity with the majority. Comparing employment rates and income equality among professionals and others with a master's degree tests whether the professions in each field yield more egalitarian outcomes. The fields are analysed separately and the results show that a professional degree in natural science or social science has no equalising effect. Education leading to a health profession provides immigrants with a 'labour market shelter'.
Resumo Os mestrados profissionais são um instrumento de uma política maior de flexibilização da pós-graduação brasileira. Como tais, visam a uma aproximação entre o mundo acadêmico e o mundo do ...trabalho em geral. Para tanto, necessitam romper as barreiras que separam esses dois mundos e uma das estratégias concentra-se na prática didática, a qual está intimamente relacionada com os objetivos educacionais traçados e que a orientam. Sendo a falta de clareza dos objetivos uma causa comum de insucessos na sala de aula, o presente trabalho buscou avaliar os objetivos educacionais de um mestrado profissional em saúde coletiva, de uma universidade federal brasileira. Para o estudo proposto, utilizamos como método de pesquisa a análise documental e como referência teórica os princípios da taxonomia de Bloom. Concluímos que o caso estudado necessita aprimorar a construção de seus objetivos educacionais, a fim de permitir um melhor direcionamento de suas práticas pedagógicas, contribuindo para uma efetiva aproximação ensino-serviço, no âmbito da saúde coletiva, sem o que tenderá a reproduzir a perspectiva ideológica dos mestrados acadêmicos, na qual a aplicabilidade social do conhecimento produzido, a despeito de sua relevância científica, é contingente e condicionada pela capacidade individual do egresso e não por sua definição como um indicador de resultado do próprio programa.
El presente trabajo se centra en el análisis de la institucionalización del cargo de coordinación académica de los másteres impartidos bajo modalidad online en las universidades públicas presenciales ...españolas, analizando las condiciones en las que la gestión de los programas de máster online, por parte del personal académico, ayudan (o no) a institucionalizar las coordinaciones académicas. Para ello, se ha aplicado el Análisis Cualitativo Comparativo (Qualitative Comparative Analysis, QCA) y, en particular, el denominado método fuzzy-set QCA, una técnica que ha permitido, a través de un análisis cualitativo, combinar un conjunto de variables que condicionan el grado de institucionalización del cargo de coordinador/a. Los resultados indican que en aquellos casos en los que la persona responsable de la coordinación tiene atribuidas unas funciones específicas para el desempeño de su tarea, muestra una buena opinión sobre las iniciativas de e-learning de su universidad y ejerce el cargo durante un periodo reducido de tiempo. En ese caso, se da una institucionalización alta.

This paper examines the labor-market returns to a new form of postsecondary vocational education: vocational master's degrees. We use individual fixed effects models on a matched sample of students and non-students from Finland to capture any time-invariant differences across individuals. We find that attendance in vocational master's programs leads to an earnings increase of more than seven percent five years after entry. The estimated effect remains positive even if selection on unobservables is twice as strong as selection on observables. Earnings gains are similar by gender and age, but they are marginally higher for those in the health sector than for those in the business or technology and trades sector.

This article clarifies the didactic and research capabilities of the new TopRank digital tool in the practice of professional training of masters in economics and finance. The features of the ...organization of educational and cognitive activity of students within the disciplines "Risk theory (advanced level)", "Instrumental methods in economics", "Mathematics of financial instruments" are presented, taking into account which allows us to focus on the development of competencies related to decision-making in conditions of uncertainty and risk. Special attention is paid to TopRank tools ("Sensitivity analysis", "Perform if, what", "Scanning"), the use of which allows you to significantly expand the list of applied tasks of financial and economic content, bring the educational and cognitive activities of master's students closer to the real conditions of professional activity. The solution of the pedagogical task of developing a system of tasks and exercises of mathematical disciplines for higher economic school, in the framework of teaching which it is methodically expedient to use a new tool TopRank, is given. The tasks of a new type introduced into the practice of professional training of masters in economics and finance include tasks for investment planning taking into account the dynamics of investor preferences, tasks for designing and managing a portfolio of financial instruments based on real financial data, tasks for identifying significant factors leading to volatility or undesirable financial results, tasks for cost estimation in various areas economic activity, the task of identifying significant factors, leading to the irrational use of raw materials and an increase in labor costs, tasks to assess the quantitative characteristics of the project throughout its life cycle, tasks to build hierarchies of factors leading to deviations of standards for quality management of manufactured products and tasks to form optimal capital reserves taking into account the most likely and significant risks. The material of the article can be useful for digitalization of methodological systems of teaching professionally significant academic disciplines in higher education, as well as improving the system of additional professional education in the field of economics and finance.
This paper explores students' reflections towards the application of language and content, along with cross-disciplinary skills and cultural awareness, when participating in the Virtual Business ...Professional (VBP) international project. It examines the experience of 23 learners, from different nationalities, enrolled in a business-related master's degree. This experience combines the ICLHE (Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education) and the COIL approaches (Collaborative Online International Learning). The study has been conducted through a mixed methods perspective based on two questionnaires, distributed to all participating students before and after the project, together with follow-up semi-structured interviews to four students. Students were asked about their expectations (before) and perceptions (after) from the VBP project, respectively. Results support the view that this project applying a COIL approach may help students to consolidate their master's degree training and gain self-confidence when applying their knowledge in a real experience. The combination of these two approaches, ICLHE and COIL, seem to benefit students since they have used everything learnt and feel that the master's degree contents are widely implemented in the VBP project. However, results also reveal that students' expectations were higher than their final perceptions, which leads to pedagogical implications at the local and global level.
