The purpose of this study is to identify the trends in master’s theses on visual arts conducted in Turkish primary education. We used different combination of keywords regarding visual arts and ...primary education and identified 84 master’s theses. Utilizing content analysis, we identified the title of the advisor, date, university, department, level, methods, sampling method, grade level, sample size, data collection, implications, keywords, gender of the researcher, the number of Turkish and English sources were identified. Findings were given in frequency and coding tables. The results indicated that most master’s thesis on visual arts conducted in Turkey writers were female, the advisor of the theses were mostly assistant professor, thesis were mostly published in 2011, most theses were published in Gazi University, most thesis were published in arts education departments, most theses were in master’s degree. Most studies utilized qualitative analysis and conducted with primary school students. Data analysis techniques included content analysis and documents analysis. Examining the implications of the thesis results showed that professional development courses could be given, art education environments should be equipped with proper materials, duration of visual arts courses should be increased, and collaboration with museums should be established.
El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los derechos de propiedad intelectual sobre los trabajos elaborados por quienes cursan estudios universitarios, con particular referencia a los TFG, TFM y ...tesis doctorales que se realizan en el ámbito de la ciencia jurídica. Para ello, en primer lugar, se examina la posibilidad de que el trabajo de investigación sea merecedor de la condición de obra; en segundo lugar, se clarifica la cuestión relativa a la titularidad de los derechos de autor sobre estos trabajos; y, en tercer lugar, se reflexiona en torno a la obligación de dejar las obras en repositorios institucionales de acceso abierto.
RESUMO Na trajetória histórica da ciência, inúmeras foram as perspectivas utilizadas no esforço de compreensão dos fenômenos da natureza intrínsecos ao processo de construção do conhecimento ...científico. Admitindo a multiplicidade de seus objetos investigados, o conhecimento científico veio sendo ramificado em ciências particulares do saber, estando elas relacionadas em duas categorias: ciências formais e ciências empíricas, incluída nesta última categoria, as chamadas Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, área na qual a Ciência da Informação (CI) encontra-se inserida. Sendo assim, a presente pesquisa buscou, a partir do estudo da produção acadêmica do campo da Ciência da Informação, compreender a natureza paradigmática das pesquisas no contexto da Ciência da Informação, bem como o interesse de produção do conhecimento nas pesquisas analisadas. Como corpus de estudo, optou-se por analisar as dissertações defendidas no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação (PPGCI) da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), compreendendo o período entre os anos de 2011 a 2013. Elencadas as 26 dissertações defendidas entre o período mencionado, constatou-se a predominância do paradigma positivista orientado, majoritariamente, por um viés de interesse técnico.
In the Italian academic discourse research, Master’s degree theses used to be studied mainly from the perspective of linguistic competencies of their authors. However, strictly linguistic skills are ...not the only challenge for undergraduate, who must also convey intellectual content in appropriate discursive and rhetorical forms. The paper explores the patterns of a peculiar form of “collaborative writing”, i.e. the cooperation between the thesis supervisor and the student. Using the example of Master’s theses in linguistics, written in Italian as a foreign language, three basic didactic approaches are discussed in the paper. In the didactics of content the supervisors emphasize knowledge, i.e. linguistic concepts expected to be applied in a Master’s thesis. In the didactics of forms, the supervisors focus on the linguistic code, that is, on grammatical and lexical correctness of the Master’s thesis. In the didactics of forms of content the supervisors use regularities observed in academic discourse, such as genre and rhetorical structures, as valuable teaching resources likely to help students develop metacommunicative awareness.
The study aims to create a resource by scanning the data on Masters theses on construction and building physics under the department of architecture in universities in Turkey between 2000 and 2018. ...The study is important because there are currently no printed and digital literature reviews on this subject available. The sampling of the study consists of Master’s theses from the department of architecture in the HEC National Thesis Center system. In the study, were examined 850 accessible Master's theses on the topic of construction and building physics from the departments of architecture of universities in Turkey. The language, year, city, university, title, method, and keywords of the theses were evaluated using a bibliometric and content analysis method. In this context, the study aims to create a source for the research and to guide the selection of methods and topics. It was observed that the subjects addressed in the theses from the construction technology department in architecture at a graduate education level vary depending on the developing technology and needs, and studies on energy and acoustics have increased.
As a result of well-known international evaluations, an intense debate regarding teacher education has emerged focusing on its development in order to improve the national economy. Teacher education ...in Finland has been university-based for decades and has received a great deal of publicity because of its research-based approach. However, there is a lack of empirical research on the consequences of such an approach to teacher education. This study focuses on investigating (1) student teachers’ experiences of research-based teacher education and (2) how they experience research-based education in relation to the teaching profession? One hundred and eleven student teachers wrote essays on these two research questions, and qualitative content analysis was used as the data analysis method. The results revealed that most student teachers principally understand the concept of research-based teacher education and appreciate this form of education because it provides them with high-level competence, status, and good job opportunities. However, they sometimes find it difficult to relate this type of education to the teaching profession and perceive that this approach does not provide them with enough practical tools before entering the reality of a teacher’s work.
Scientific research is the first step in preparing for master's thesis and doctoral dissertations. It is associated with the orientation of students and preferences that have been shown during basic ...studies, as well as the sense of doing scientific work. In addition to the methodology of scientific research and the field of master's thesis or dissertation, students should be familiar with both research techniques, fieldwork, and to acquire the necessary skills that will enable them to have extensive professional employment opportunities after the master's or dissertation completed. In this regard, it should be pointed out that the importance of scientific research is not measurable, not only for the preparation and writing of master papers and dissertations, but for further professional engagement.
This study correlates with a research study published in the journal Pragmalingüística, in which the contrastive use of the rhetorical functions of citations in master’s theses in Spanish and English ...was studied. The main objective pursued by this new research is to determine which rhetorical functions are used most frequently in the different parts of a master’s thesis and what these can accomplish in each part of the text. Following Petrić (2007), a computerized textual analysis of the rhetorical function of citation was used to study this phenomenon in a corpus of sixteen (16) theses of which eight (8) were written by American and eight (8) by Spanish postgraduates in their native language. With regards to cultural conventions, the results showed that when compared to native Spanish writers, the Americans students use the highest number of citations and write a relatively longer Introduction and Conclusion parts. The sets of functions are consonant with the rhetorical purpose of each part, which thus shows a close link between the citation and the structural organization of the academic text, despite the frequent use of Attribution (AT) in most parts of the thesis.
