An academic medical center (AMC) is a hospital system that is organizationally and administratively integrated with an academic institution to achieve a tripartite mission: train the healthcare ...workforce, conduct clinical research, and deliver high‐quality patient care. The mission and value of AMCs has made them a core element of the healthcare system in the United States, and has afforded AMCs relative stability against industry turbulence over the years. However, a new era of care transformation characterized by increased demand for accessibility, convenience, and affordability is challenging that stability. Evolving patient needs and preferences are creating a new value equation in the U.S. healthcare system, which may shrink the viable market for AMCs that fail to modernize all aspects of their tripartite mission. New market entrants and existing competitors that embrace innovation will soon out‐pace AMCs that lack the innovation infrastructure to create new clinical capabilities, enhance patient experiences, optimize cost structures, and seize on emerging revenue opportunities.

Osmanlı modernleşme süreci, askeri alandaki zayıflıkların fark edilmesiyle devleti kurtarma temelinde bir araç olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Askeri alanda başlayan reformlar, Tanzimat döneminde siyasal ve ...hukuki alanları kapsaması bakımından modern Türkiye'nin ortaya çıkmasında önemli bir aşamayı ifade eder. Tanzimat döneminden Meşrutiyet dönemlerine geçişle birlikte modernleşme çabaları padişahın ve devlet adamlarının bireysel etkisinden çıkarak; bu reformların Osmanlı aydın sınıfı tarafından talep edilmesi ile Osmanlı devletinde idari, siyasi ve toplumsal dönüşümleri beraberinde getirmiştir. Tanzimat ve Meşrutiyet dönemleri sürecinden, Cumhuriyet dönemine kadar olan süreçte reform hareketleri askeri, idari ve siyasi alanlarda gerçekleşmiştir. Cumhuriyet'in kuruluşu ile çağdaş esaslara dayalı bütünsel anlamda gerçekleşen ilk modernleşme hareketi meydana gelmiştir. Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, Osmanlı modernleşme sürecinden Cumhuriyet dönemi çağdaşlaşma hareketine geçişte politik değişim ve toplumsal sürekliliklerin ifade edilmesidir. Yöntem: Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda yapılan literatür taraması ile Osmanlı-Türk modernleşme aşamaları karşılaştırmalı analiz çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Bulgular: Osmanlı-Türk modernleşme aşamaları kapsamında incelenen çalışmada, Osmanlı modernleşme sürecinden Cumhuriyet dönemi çağdaşlaşma hareketine geçişin bütünsel bir yaklaşımla değerlendirilmesi gerektiği görülmüştür. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada Osmanlı modernleşme sürecinin, modern Türkiye'nin kuruluşuna siyasal, idari ve toplumsal alanlardaki etkileri incelenmiş ve Osmanlı reform hareketlerinin bir taraftan Cumhuriyet dönemi çağdaşlaşma hareketini etkilerken bir taraftan da modern Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ni ortaya çıkaran koşulları hazırlaması bakımından önemli bir politik süreci ifade ettiği saptanmıştır. Özgünlük: Osmanlı modernleşme süreci, modern Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin kuruluşunu etkilemesi bakımından önemli bir araştırma alanına sahiptir. Bu çalışma, Osmanlı modernleşme aşamalarının ele alınarak, Cumhuriyet dönemine geçişte ve modern Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin ortaya çıkışındaki etkilerinin değişim ve süreklilik bağlamında değerlendirilmesi açısından literatüre katkıda bulunacaktır.

Abstract The study presents the history of Spanish and Hungarian research of legal customs related to the 19-20th century European legal modernization, based on the scientific oeuvre of Joaquín Costa Martínez (1846-1911) and Erno Tárkány Szücs (1921-1984). The examination of the two significantly different models and research careers, which can be clearly distinguished in space and time, can introduce new data and aspects for the research of the European legal development, and even for the regions applying European law more broadly. A partir de principios de siglo XIX, el Estado ruso, reconociendo el derecho de los pueblos conquistados a actuar en sus propios asuntos de acuerdo con sus propias costumbres jurídicas, concedió una importancia cada vez mayor a la recopilación de las costumbres jurídicas en particular.
The Research Group for Hungarian Realms of Memory affiliated to the Institute of Hungarian Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Debrecen has taken on the thread of a long-running debate ...with its latest research program. Its research results were published in the conference volume entitled “Patterns of Debrecen…”. The studies presented in this volume are extremely inspiring, especially the analysis of Attila Debreczeni, which proves to those approaching the topic from other disciplines that the term ‘Debrecenness’ is not as timeless as it is commonly used. The term was coined at the turn of the 18-19th century by Ferenc Kazinczy, who was calling for the renewal of Hungarian culture and language. Its aim was to draw a deterrent example of a remnant that hinders the catching-up of Western European cultural development. He created his deterrent example from the most backward elements of the urban development peculiarities of Debrecen - this is the term ‘Debrecenness’. Kazinczy’s rhetorical construction became so strong that those who thought about the development of the city, about the special role and identity of Debrecen could not later get rid of the discursive position of defence. Other intellectual workshops examining the history of the city (historians, settlement geographers, church historians, others) can finally find proved the strength and impact of the Kazinczyan discourse and the term he coined as part of the development of the Debrecen mentality and identity. However, based on their research results, they came to the conclusion that the peculiarities of urban history of Debrecen, and its role in Hungarian nationwide development was richer and more diverse than the Kazinczyan term. Therefore, in addition to the ‘debreceniség/Debrecenness’ category, it is also worth examining whether there was a specific urban development path of Debrecen, which can be called ‘debrecenség/Debrecenity’ to avoid misunderstandings. In the light of recent modernization theories and current developments (depletion of traditional resources driving industrial modernization, environmental damages, climate change), the urban development of Debrecen cannot simply be classified as a lagging and receding force compared to the development of the central regions. Moreover, perhaps it can bring lessons and specific (partial) solutions to the interpretation of development that does not absolutize growth at all costs. The re-enacted debate is an intellectual challenge for all scientific workshops dealing with the urban development of Debrecen, their collaboration and the organization of a joint research project promise real scientific progress.
Beispiele aus den verschiedenen Forschungsgebieten von Siegfried Hünig sollen daran erinnern, dass die organische Chemie diesem ungewöhnlich vielseitigen und kreativen Chemiker viel mehr als die ...wohlbekannte Hünig‐Base verdankt. Die Hauptforschungslinien mit Synthesen und physikalischer Charakterisierung von neuen Farbstoffen, mehrstufigen Redoxsystemen und organischen Metallen werden ebenso vorgestellt wie die heute weniger bekannten Beiträge zur Enamin‐Chemie, zur Entdeckung von Diimin als hydrierendes Agens und zur nucleophilen Acylierung mit Trimethylsilylcyanid. Auch exotische Verbindungen mit parallelen C=C‐ und N=N‐Doppelbindungen wurden in der Gruppe von Hünig umfassend bearbeitet. Der Blick auf die Entwicklung seiner Forschung lehrt, wie fruchtbar systematisches Vorgehen ist, aber auch wie wichtig vollkommen unerwartete Resultate sind, wenn sie auf den “vorbereiteten Geist” treffen. Die große Bedeutung der Lehre im akademischen Wirken Hünigs und seine Rolle bei der Modernisierung des Würzburger Chemieinstitutes und der Förderung des akademischen Nachwuchses in Deutschland werden ebenfalls kurz beleuchtet.
