Five key problems of kinship networks are boundedness, cohesion, size and cohesive relinking, types of relations and relinking, and groups or roles. Approaches to solving these problems include ...formats available for electronic storage of genealogical data and representations of genealogies using graphs. P-graphs represent couples and uncoupled children as vertices, whereas parent-child links are the arcs connecting nodes both within and between different nuclear families. Using results from graph theory, P-graphs are shown to lend themselves to solutions of the problems discussed. Relinking of families through marriage, for example, can be formally defined as sets of bounded groups that are the cohesive cores of kinship networks, with nodes at various distances from such cores. The structure of such cores yields an analytic decomposition of kinship networks and constituent group and role relationships. The Pgraph and Pajek programs for large network analysis help both to represent kinship networks and their patterns and to solve problems of analysis.
Con el objetivo de explorar las potencialidades de la combinación de datos procedentes de redes sociales e información geográfica, se llevo a cabo una encuesta de redes personales con la ayuda del ...programa Egonet entre miembros del listserv REDES. En esta encuesta se identifica la latitud y la longitud de las personas nominadas. Los resultados de la experiencia demuestran que esta combinación permite explorar un campo de extraordinario interés como es la distribución espacial de los tipos de relaciones sociales y los intercambios asociados.
This paper makes a bibliometric study of the articles on material science in ESI with a special emphasis on the distribution of countries, institutions, journals and scientists of high productivity ...and impact. It also analyzes the journals and scientists with highly cited papers and hot papers on material science. Finally, the co-citation analysis on the highly cited authors is conducted by SPSS so as to provide the hotspots and scientists' clusters on material science in recent 11 years. And some conclusions are got in this study.
This paper studies on the hot papers of clinical medicine field based on ESI (Essential Scientific Indicator) database, from January 1, 1998 to December 31, 2008. The data about these 324 papers are ...analyzed by the authors from the aspects of publishing time, country/territory, institution, journal, and so on. In order to discover the hotspots in the clinical medicine field in the global world, the methods of multi-dimension analysis, cluster analysis, pajek visualization are used and 54 pieces of papers are chosen based on citation of the 324 papers. The result shows that cancer is the research hotspot, and the correlativity of the title in the clinical medicine field in the global world can be shown by the cluster analysis. This study provides information for the researchers and scholars in the clinical medicine field, significant and specifically functional to them.
