The well-being of participants at major destination events has received little empirical attention in the literature. This paper explores LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & other sexual ...minority) event participants' hedonic and eudaimonic well-being at the iconic Hangzhou Rainbow Marathon (HRM) in China. PERMA (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Achievement) psychological model of human flourishing was adopted to analyze hedonic and eudaimonic well-being. Mixed qualitative methods, in the form of semi-structured in-depth interviews and a focus group, were used to address the research aim. This data was supported by informal personal observations at the marathon site. Distinctions among participants' experiences were identified, resulting in slightly different perceptions of PERMA elements for paraders, volunteers and organizers. Through this role-based perspective, an event specific PERMA model emerged. Implications for event organizers and marketing specialists are provided.

In the article, the authors turn to Soviet history, exploring the phenomenon of the May Day parade for enculturation and socialization of the participants of the event. The methodological basis of ...the study is formed by the works of G. Le Bon, D.V. Pivovarov, and S.S. Horujy. They raise the problem of collective experience, the mechanisms for the formation of a value attitude to culture, and the synergy of the festive communicative space. The material for the research is a series of photographs of the May Day parades. The analysis of the photographs allows us to single out an important aspect of enculturation — the physical and bodily inclusion of a person in the communicative space of the holiday. The novelty of the article is related to the focus on research methods due to which the process of enculturation is analysed from the point of view of a person’s bodily involvement in festive communication. It is the May Day parade as the most massive festive event that makes it possible to demonstrate the functionality of bodily practices that contribute to the enculturation of a person into a cultural community.
Starting from a 2019 activist intervention, whereby a group of women offered their own rendition of Monty Python’s “silly walks” during a student parade that was part of the official celebrations ...commemorating Greece’s entry in World War II, in this essay I seek to examine and apply pressure on embodied repertoires of national memory that are central to these celebrations. Moreover, I return to the 2019 activist performance to consider how performance might work to destabilise the grounds on which such repertoires are enacted and, therefore, stage history beyond the frames of visibility and legibility constituting the national subject.
Serbia's Europeanisation, including police reform in accordance with European policing standards, has been far from smooth. A case in point has been the lasting inability of the Serbian government ...and its police forces to protect the freedom of public assembly of Serbia's lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer (LGBTIQ) community. In this article we investigate the role of the police in the organisation of Pride Parades between 2001 and 2013. Although the police was unable to openly challenge the freedom of public assembly, strongly insisted upon by the European Union (EU) and also guaranteed by domestic law, it nevertheless practiced three forms of indirect resistance: 'hypersecuritisation', 'technical obstructions' and 'responsibility transfer'. The analysis of the role of Serbia's police in the unsuccessful organisation of Pride Parades provides us with unique insights into how Europeanisation is contested and resisted not necessarily at the level of the official discourse but rather at the level of practice.
The highly synchronized parade can impress audiences how strong the troops seem to be, whereas it is difficult to train for the good parade because of its complex collective behavior. However, there ...is no scientific research about the important factor to train and produce a good parade is. One of the bottlenecks to the scientific approach is the difficulty of measurement of the quality of a group as same as other swarm researches. In this paper, we measured the posture data of members in the parade with OpenPose, which is a cutting-edge pose estimation technology of deep learning. By this measurement, we propose a numerical evaluation for the quality of the parade, and it is confirmed by the questionnaire. In conclusion, our evaluation method is applicable for the quantitative evaluation, and it was suggested that the variation level of the arm swing angles was related to the quality of the parade. This paper is based on the paper presented at the proceedings of the 3rd International Symposium on Swarm Behavior and Bio-Inspired Robotics

Research on the enhanced control and emission-reduction measures to improve air quality during major events could provide data theory and scientific support for air-quality improvement during ...non-activities. Based on the air-quality data published by the China Environmental Monitoring Station and the meteorological elements and weather conditions released by the China Meteorological Administration, this paper explored the characteristics of air-quality evolution in Beijing from 5 August to 18 September 2015 and the weather situation during the Military Parade. The results showed that: (1) Emission-reduction measures implemented for air quality by Beijing and its surrounding area were induced, and we explored the contribution of these measures to pollutants or AQI in the locality. (2) During the 2015 Military Parade, Beijing was in the front or lower part of the high-pressure system. Due to the strong effect of North or Northeast winds, the weather situation was conducive to the diffusion of pollutants. When before or after the implementation, once the atmospheric diffusion was poor, the pollutants would accumulate gradually. Thus, it can be seen that the weather situation had a great impact on air quality. (3) During the implementation, PM2.5, PM10, NO2 and other pollutants decreased significantly, of which the concentration of PM10 decreased the most, from 109 μg·m−3 down to 34 μg·m−3, and the concentration of PM2.5 decreased by 72.73%. According to the changes between before and during the implementation or during and after the implementation, the concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 increased when the implementation of the emission-reduction measures had been finished, indicating that the enhanced control measures made a great contribution to the emission reduction in particles. (4) In addition, the annual average of AQI in the three years is 87.49, and the average value of a normal year was the average value of 2013 and 2014. The average value of the normal year during the military parade is 64.63, which was 70.40% lower than the average value of AQI during the military parade. The goal of reaching the secondary standard of GB-3095-2012 was achieved, and there was still a long way to go from the primary standard. In a few words, in order to achieve the goal of better air quality throughout the year, all parties still needed to coordinate control and make joint efforts.
In order to investigate the effects of the temporary strengthening of air quality assurance controlling measures during the Beijing 2015 IAAF World Championships and the Military Parade Assurance ...Period (MPAP) in China, we collected daily PM2.5 aerosol samples at three typical sites (urban downtown, suburban and rural background area, respectively) in Beijing and investigated the variations of concentration of the water-soluble ions, elemental constituents, organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) in PM2.5 from Aug.15 to Sept.10, 2015. Simultaneously, 1-h high-resolution continuous monitoring results of PM2.5 mass concentration as well as the chemical components which were measured at another online monitoring urban site were incorporated. The concentrations of PM2.5 and other gaseous pollutants (SO2, NO2 and CO) during the parade control period (Aug.20-Sept.3) exhibited a substantially decrease compared with the concentrations during both the non-control (August 15 to August 19 and September 4 to September 10) period and the same period in 2014. According to the CMC results, the major components were identified as secondary inorganic aerosol (SIA, the combination of sulfate, ammonium and nitrate), mineral dust and particular organic matter (POM), which together accounted for more than 80% of PM2.5 in urban and suburban sites. POM is found to account for the largest proportion, and the obviously higher proportion of POM in the urban area revealed the significance contribution from vehicles. Compared with the non-control period, the mass concentrations of SIA and secondary organic carbon (SOC) decreased obviously. However, SIA and SOC are observed to play an important role in contributing to the rapid growth process of PM2.5 under unfavorable meteorological conditions during the control period. In view of the gradual improvement of air quality in Beijing, as well as the contribution of secondary aerosol formations in total PM2.5, effective control of primary gaseous pollutants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) will be very significant for further lowering the concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing in normal time.
