Maryanto SD, Wibowo WA, Daryono BS. 2021. Phenotypic characters and identification CYPs (Cyclophilin) gene in Cucumis melo L. cv. Gama Melon Parfum. Biodiversitas 22: 3007-3014. Cucumis melo L. cv. ...Gama Melon Parfum is a new cultivar with a very strong fragrance as its main character. As a new cultivar with unique characters, it is necessary to characterize phenotype and molecular related to the fragrant aroma. The research aimed to study the phenotypic of the fruit of C. melo cv. Gama Melon Parfum (F3) and to identify the CYPs gene as one of the genes that act in encoding volatile compounds. Analysis of qualitative characters was based on International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) and Plant Variety Protection (PVP), phenotypic characters in melons observed by abiding the Rules for Registration of Varieties from the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 700/Kpts/OT.320/D/12/2011, while analysis of quantitative characters was using the ANOVA methods and software PKBT-STAT-2. The methods of molecular characterization included RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis used Reverse Transcriptase-PCR, amplification of DNA target used PCR, visualization of DNA target used electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing. Analysis of the in silico approach was carried out on the CuGenDB Melon database. Analysis of protein sequences and classification was obtained from InterPro. Phylogeny analysis using MEGA-X Software. The results were 18 qualitative characters and 11 quantitative characters were stable and uniform, whereas the molecular characterization of the genes was predicted Cyclophilin with peptidylprolyl isomerase (PPIase) activity and located in chromosome 1 (17059021-17058899).
Sebagai salah satu kultivar melon lokal unggul, melon kultivar Gama Melon Parfum (GMP) sangat potensial karena mengandung antioksidan alami. Melon GMP dapat dikonsumsi dalam bentuk jus dan dinikmati ...oleh masyarakat luas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari sifat-sifat jus melon GMP serta mengevaluasi nilai D dan Z sifat antioksidannya yang meliputi kandungan total fenolik, vitamin C, dan aktivitas antioksidan. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua faktor yaitu variasi suhu (65, 77, 88, 92 oC) serta waktu (0, 10, 20, dan 30 menit) pasteurisasi dengan pengulangan sampel sebanyak tiga kali. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa proses pasteurisasi dapat mempengaruhi sifat-sifat jus melon GMP yaitu dapat mendegradasi aktivitas antioksidan, kandungan total fenolik, vitamin C, serta total asam berturut-turut sebesar 51%; 16,8%; 84%; dan 296%. Akan tetapi nilai pH jus melon meningkat setelah dipasteurisasi dengan persentase 1,6%. Kinetika degradasi aktivitas antioksidan dapat didekati dengan menggunakan kinetika reaksi orde pertama dapat didekati dengan menggunakan kinetika reaksi orde pertama. Rentang nilai D aktivitas antioksidan, total fenolik, dan vitamin C berturut-turut adalah 97,09-714,29 menit, 400-1666,67 menit, dan 38,76-222,22 menit. Nilai Z berturut-turut sebesar 32,15; 46,95; dan 37,04 °C. Ketiga parameter yang dievaluasi memiliki sifat sensitif terhadap perlakuan termal. This article considers the social, political and productive engagements with air as a foundational - but often invisible - consideration in scholarship. Drawing on ethnographic research in Angola, it ...develops Arundhati Roy's notion of "portals" as entry points into the reflection on and theorization of air. The paper argues that an "sanitized sensorium" of late globalized capitalism has shaped ethnographic work over the last two centuries, and in so doing has created an overwhelming reliance on visually informed insights that reveal only a small part of what can be made sense of. This is true for anthropology, as has been well documented, but it is equally true for the field of African studies. Here I suggest that in entering through alternative portals, including the olfactory, we might attend to the spaces between object and subject in which "the fullness of air" may yield valuable insmell - alongside insight.
Le naskaphthon de Dioscoride et le bunk de la médecine arabo-islamique, un seul et même simple. Partie I : étude analytique des textes anciens pour un essai de détermination – En nous basant sur ...l’analyse des descriptions relatives au bunk recueillies dans des écrits arabo-islamiques de différentes époques et en comparant celles-ci à ce que nous savons des substances aromatiques naturelles qui circulaient autrefois dans l’Ancien Monde, nous avons tenté d’élucider la nature énigmatique de ce simple aromatique pour lequel une identité franche et nette n’avait jamais été posée jusque-là. Cet examen comparatif, entrepris au plus près des textes anciens nous a permis d’avancer une proposition mettant un nom sur la nature de ce bunk, en accord avec les différentes indications que nous ont données les auteurs anciens. En parvenant ainsi à définir la nature de ce simple aromatique, nous avons du même coup avancé dans la connaissance de ce qu’a pu être le naskaphthon de Dioscoride, dont les auteurs arabes les plus anciens ont fait leur bunk, alors que les sources grecques, latines et occidentales médiévales ou post médiévales n’ont rien apporté de convaincant à son sujet. Faisant suite à cette première partie, une seconde partie (à paraître dans la prochaine livraison de cette revue) décrira une observation ethnobotanique que nous avons faite dans le Grand Sud marocain et qui semble bien être une survivance du bunk/ naskaphthon, permettant ainsi de proposer une identité à ce produit.
The naskaphthon of Dioscoride and the bunk of arab-islamic medicine, one and the same simple. Part I : analytical study of old texts for a determination exercise – By basing our work on analysis of the bunk’s descriptions find in arabo-islamic medical writings of various periods and by comparing and by comparing these with what we know of natural aromatic substances that once circulated in the Old World, we tried to elucidate the enigmatic nature of this simple aromatic for which a clear and frank identity had never been posed until then. This comparative study, realized in closer of the ancient texts allowed us to put forward a proposal giving a name on the nature of this bunk, in accordance with the various data left to us by the ancient authors. By setting thereby the nature of this simple aromatic, we have at the same time advanced in the knowledge of what may have been the naskaphthon of Dioscoride, on which the oldest Arab authors made their bunk, while the greek, latin and western medieval or post-medieval sources brought nothing convincing about it. Following this first part, a second part (to be published in the next issue of this review) will describe an ethnobotanical observation that we made in the moroccan Great South and that seems to be a survival of the bunk/ naskaphthon, thus allowing to propose an identity to this product.
Osmophores are engaged in scent production and differ from other secretory structures by their product, site, duration, and anatomical structure. Whereas osmophores have been well-documented in ...flowers of several families, they are barely mentioned in the Asteraceae. The aims of this study are to: 1) determine the occurrence of osmophores in corollas of 39 species of the tribe Onoserideae and the only species of Famatinantheae with histochemical methods; and 2) analyze the morphology and structure of osmophores in these groups. Histochemical and histological techniques revealed osmophores in the marginal and in the central corollas of Famatinanthus Ariza & S.E. Freire and Plazia Ruiz & Pav. at the apex and margin of the corolla lobes, and at the sinuses. Osmophores were confirmed following positive staining reactions for TIOFH and TIOFH3 (Neutral Red, Oil Red O, and Iodine-Potassium-Iodide); the samples reacted negatively for Benedict's test for detecting reducing sugars. The osmophores found in this study are constituted uniquely by a papillose or non-papillose epidermis, or they extend into the mesophyll forming scent glands. In both cases, they are associated to stomata and starch grains. The corollas of the other species of Onoserideae did not react positively for osmophores.
Il est intéressant de réfléchir sur la relation de la littérature et du cinéma à un objet qui leur échappe à l’une comme à l’autre : l’odeur, le parfum. L’objet du présent article est d’observer ...comment la littérature (nous nous arrêterons en particulier sur le cas de Proust) et le cinéma s’y prennent pour dire et pour montrer le parfum, et comment ils s’empruntent mutuellement ruses et stratagèmes pour rendre un objet qui leur est étranger. Par ailleurs, si la littérature fait des odeurs et des parfums un usage dénotant dans l’ensemble une sorte d’optimisme rousseauiste (c’est du moins ce qui appert de certaines réflexions de Roland Barthes), l’olfactographie cinématographique porte la marque de la misanthropie constitutive d’un médium essentiellement pessimiste. L’acte cinématographique s’apparente en effet à un viol optique (voir Le Voyeur de Michael Powell, 1960), de telle sorte que l’œuvre naît coupable, et que l’homme cinématographique semble marqué par un péché originel. Cette sombre morale n’a pas manqué de déteindre sur la littérature, comme en témoigne le roman de Patrick Süskind, Das Parfum (1985, adapté au cinéma en 2006 par Tom Tykwer), qui raconte l’histoire d’un enfant naissant dans les immondices, matricide malgré lui et futur parfumeur-meurtrier.
Les produits biologiques liés à l’alimentation, aux libations, aux fumigations, aux soins et à la beauté du corps jouent un rôle considérable dans la vie des peuples de la Méditerranée antique et ont ...aussi leur place dans les différentes étapes des rituels funéraires, de la préparation du corps jusqu’à la visite à la tombe. Produits périssables, ils ne laissent que peu de témoignages archéologiques sous la forme de restes fauniques et végétaux et de contenants en céramique, en métal ou en verre. Cet ouvrage collectif, riche de la collaboration d’une cinquantaine d’archéologues français, italiens et suisses, est la publication des actes du colloque de clôture du programme MAGI (Manger, boire, offrir pour l’éternité en Gaule et Italie préromaines), financé par l’ANR, organisé à Rome par l’École française de Rome et le Centre Jean Bérard, les 16, 17, 18 novembre 2015. Grâce à l’association de trois unités de recherche du CNRS et d’un laboratoire privé, il a pu mettre en œuvre durant 4 ans, de 2013 à 2017, une approche transdisciplinaire combinant chimie organique et archéobotanique pour identifier les matériaux et produits biologiques en contextes funéraires en Gaule, en Italie péninsulaire et en Sardaigne de la fin de l’âge du Bronze jusqu’au début de l’époque romaine et cerner leurs usages rituels.
I prodotti biologici legati all'alimentazione, alle libagioni, alle fumigazioni, alle cure e alla bellezza del corpo hanno un ruolo importante nella vita dei popoli del Mediterraneo antico, in particolare nelle varie fasi dei rituali funerari, dalla preparazione del corpo alla visita alla tomba. Prodotti deperibili, non lasciano che scarse tracce in archeologia, sotto forma di resti faunistici e vegetali e dei contenitori di ceramica, metallo o vetro. Quest'opera collettiva, cui hanno collaborato una cinquantina di archeologi francesi, italiani e svizzeri, è la pubblicazione degli atti del colloquio a chiusura del programma MAGI (Manger, boire, offrir pour l'éternité en Gaule et en Italie préromaines), finanziato dall'ANR, organizzato a Roma dall'École française de Rome e dal Centre Jean Bérard il 16-18 novembre 2015. Grazie all'unione di tre unità di ricerca del CNRS e di un laboratorio privato, il programma ha messo in opera, dal 2013 al 2017, un approccio interdisciplinare che combinava la chimica organica e l'archeobotanica per identificare, nei contesti funerari in Gallia, in Italia peninsulare e in Sardegna dalla fine dell'età del Bronzo all'inizio dell'epoca romana, i materiali e i prodotti biologici e per meglio individuare gli usi funerari in queste regioni.
