This work is devoted to the study of the formation of the Hebrew phraseological system from the perspective of the supposed influence of the phraseological system of Yiddish on it. The choice of this ...Germanic language among the many Jewish languages as an object of research is explained by the fact that for the overwhelming majority of immigrants to their historical homeland, even Yiddish was the spoken language. On the basis of examples collected from Russian, Israeli, German and Polish sources, the article substantiates the theoretical prerequisites for the possible interaction of phraseological systems of both languages and notes cases of its absence. The study was carried out selectively in several thematic groups, a comparative analysis of which made it possible to establish significant interlingual inconsistencies, caused, in particular, by a change in the phraseological image of Hebrew. It was found that the process of independent development of the Hebrew phraseological system without a significant influence on it of the Yiddish system of stable expressions is naturally conditioned by the change of realities, which contributed to the formation of a new nationally mediated phraseological image. The own forces of the Hebrew language were able to give impetus to the formation of a phraseological system that was not subject to significant external linguistic influences. The article proposes further development of the Hebrew phraseological system, including through closer interaction with the Yiddish language.
The article investigates the possibilities of expressing the emotional state of happiness in language using field theory and materials from the Azerbaijani language. Positive emotions such as ...happiness, joy, satisfaction, and admiration were considered within the phraseosemantic domain. The phrase semantic field includes phraseological units united by the same meaning. Studying fixed word combinations this way allows a more systematic and in-depth study. At the same time, it is essential to study the universal emotional state, such as happiness, with the field method and to examine the possibilities of its expression in language. The importance of this issue becomes more apparent when we approach it from an anthropocentric perspective and take into account extralinguistic factors. The article studies the effect of the state of happiness on the human body and its activity, the forms of its occurrence and identification in phraseological units, and the physiological acts it causes. The article distinguishes the subgroups "Joy," "Admiration," and "Satisfaction" within the phraseological field of "Happiness." It defines each subgroup's central and peripheral zones and clarifies the phraseological combinations included in its composition. Variants are also considered one way of enriching the semantic field of the phrase, and various methods of creating variation are investigated. From this point of view, contamination component variability - replacement of components with each other or quantitative change (increase or decrease) - has been specially considered. It should also be noted that although field theory is applied to various sections of the Azerbaijani language, its application in phraseology and investigating a person's emotional state from this aspect is novel.
Статья посвящена исследованию прагматического потенциала фразеологизмов в русских и английских медиатекстах. На материале публицистических текстов о миграции беженцев в Евросоюз исследуется, как ...фразеологизмы используются для манипулирования аудиторией и выражения авторской точки зрения. В статье рассматривается понятие «фразеологическая единица», а также уделяется внимание таким философско-социологическим понятиям как «манипуляция» и «интенциональность». Выделяется пять критериев для определения прагматического потенциала фразеологизмов: использование разговорных и разговорно-просторечных фразеологизмов, ярко выраженная эмоциональная окраска, поддержка авторской точки зрения, скрытность воздействия и цитирование лидеров мнений. Приводятся примеры фрагментов новостных статей, которые доказывают прагматический потенциал фразеологических единиц, выраженный в интенциональности и манипуляции сознанием читателя. На основе этих примеров проводится анализ. Делается вывод, что фразеологические обороты в новостных статьях часто используются для манипулирования аудиторией, позволяя авторам привлекать внимание читателей, вызывать у них эмоции и скрыто поддерживать свою точку зрения. Интенциональность встречается реже, поскольку явное выражение авторской точки зрения может оттолкнуть аудиторию. Кроме того, анализ показывает, что около трети фразеологизмов в новостных статьях прагматического потенциала не имеют.
The work focuses on presenting and illustrating the main characteristics of Cuban zoomor-phic phraseology, which is composed of expressions that use the name, a quality, or an ac-tion typical of an ...animal to refer to human characteristics, behaviors, or conduct. To do this, it relies on the systematization of the subject carried out in various studies between 2019 and 2024, as well as the analysis of a database compiled from the collection and processing of 639 current zoomorphic phraseological units in Cuba. The results from previous studies on specific aspects, along with the analysis of the information gathered in the database, have allowed for generalizations to be established and distinctive features to be observed regarding the form, meaning, and usage of these zoomorphic units in Cuban Spanish. There-fore, even though this topic had received little attention in the country's linguistics, the research undertaken now allows for the integration of partial and scattered results into a general characterization of Cuban zoomorphic phraseology.
El trabajo se centra en exponer e ilustrar las características principales de la fraseología zoomorfa cubana, es decir, aquella integrada por expresiones que emplean el nombre, una cualidad o una acción propia de un animal para referirse a características, conductas o comportamientos humanos. Para ello, además de la sistematización del objeto de estudio llevada a cabo en diferentes investigaciones entre los años 2019 y 2024, parte del análisis de una base de datos elaborada a partir de la recopilación y procesamiento de 639 unidades fraseológicas zoomorfas de uso actual en Cuba. Los resultados proceden-tes de los estudios específicos desarrollados con anterioridad, así como el análisis de la información recopilada en la base de datos, han permitido establecer generalizaciones y advertir rasgos distintivos en cuanto a la forma, significado y uso de las unidades fraseológicas zoomorfas en el español de Cuba. Por ende, aun cuando esta temática había recibido una exigua atención en la lingüística del país, la labor investigativa puesta en práctica permite hoy integrar resultados parciales y dispersos en una caracterización general de la fraseología zoomorfa cubana.

Methodology. The research is based on the material ...collected as a result of comparative analysis of Australian literary texts and their Russian translations.
Results. The research shows that two techniques of non-phraseological translation, namely loan translation and contextual translation, are primarily used to translate Australian phraseological units with the national and cultural component into Russian. Some semantic inaccuracies are also found.
Research implications. The research reveals the principal techniques and strategies in translating vernacular phraseological units with distinct national and cultural peculiarities. The factual material presented in the research and the results obtained on the basis of its analysis can be used in studying the Australian English, as well as in teaching the courses of theory and practice of literary translation in higher educational institutions.
Para la RAE (2009), un grupo numeroso de locuciones verbales contiene pronombres personales átonos, casi siempre lo, la o las, cuyo referente a veces se intuye contextualmente, pero queda sin ...especificar en la mayor parte de los casos: es el llamado complemento directo lexicalizado. Dado su particular comportamiento, estas construcciones normalmente son consideradas dentro de los estudios de fraseología como un tipo de locuciones con clítico y suponen un gran interés por la interrelación entre léxico, sintaxis y morfología que implican. Tradicionalmente también se ha planteado la necesidad de un estudio histórico para intentar desentrañar la referencia oculta de los clíticos en estas construcciones fosilizadas. En este trabajo presentaré el caso de pirárselas (a partir de los datos de CORDE y CREA), particularmente interesante por cuanto parece mostrar una extraña compatibilidad sintáctica del constituyente representado por el clítico, pues resulta muy extraño considerar que un uso intransitivo verbal, indicando desplazamiento del sujeto, pueda combinarse con un clítico femenino plural que señala complemento directo: no parece haber ningún tipo de correferencialidad posible para las. En nuestra propuesta vamos a demostrar que dicha correferencialidad existe y permitirá aclarar sin ambages el significado de la construcción. El recorrido histórico que efectuaremos nos obligará a estudiar también el caso de otras construcciones con significado similar, como tomarlas, afufarlas, apeldarlas, liarlas, volarlas, guillárselas y tocárselas. Nos serviremos de conceptos metodológicos como subjetivación y analogía para explicar lo sucedido con la presencia del clítico femenino en estas construcciones.
The article is devoted to the analysis of phraseological units (hereinafter referred to as PU) with author’s transformation found in “The Plumed Serpent” by D.H. Lawrence, the peculiarities of their ...translation into Russian are also considered. Phraseological units with the author’s transformations are analyzed in accordance with the classification of the latter developed by leading linguists from the Kazan Linguistic School. Each type of the author’s transformation of PU was illustrated by numerous examples from the given piece of literature in the original language, as well as in the language of translation. Each case of translation was classified as for the used translation techniques, preservation of the author’s transformation of PU and retaining the original figurativeness of the statements; English-Russian versions of PU were compared thoroughly. The result of such an analysis enabled us to estimate the quality of Russian translation of “The Plumed Serpent” by D.H.Lawrence, done by an official translator Valeriy Minushin.
Марія Лозицька, Оксана Зубач. Гендерна асиметрія в німецькій фразеології: лінгвокультурологічний та психолінгвістичний аспекти. Анотація. Стаття спрямована на виявлення специфіки гендерної асиметрії ...в німецькій фразеології на засадах психолінгвістичного аналізу з метою визначення сутності розгортання внутрішнього коду мовленнєвих інтенцій в процесі вербалізації гендеру в цільовій лінгвокультурі. У дослідженні застосовано метод вільного асоціативного експерименту, в якому, за допомогою Google Forms, проаналізовано особливості сприйняття компонентів фразеологічних одиниць німецької мови, які прямо чи опосередковано позначають чоловічу та/або жіночу стать. Типовість та індивідуальність реакцій на запропоновані 26 фразеологічних одиниць з маскулінними (Mann, Mensch, Drachen, Luder) та фемінінними (Mädchen, Frau, Dame, Weib) компонентами підтвердили асиметричність та нерівномірність представлення статей в німецькій мові. В експерименті взяли участь 81 носій мови (56 жінок та 25 чоловіків) віком від 14 до 71 року, які проживають на території Німеччини та 82 особи (70 жінок та 12 чоловіків), що не є носіями німецької мови. Зазначимо, що жоден з учасників дослідження не асоціював себе з третьою статтю. Німецькі фразеологізми характеризуються гендерними асиметріями в силу андроцентризму німецької мови. Асоціативна репрезентація чоловічої статі у фразеології внаслідок процесів метонімізації прогнозує його провідну роль у цільовій лінгвокультурі. Ознаки ж нейтралізації гендерної асиметрії зафіксовано у вигукових та компаративних фразеологізмах. Водночас встановлено, що фразеологічні одиниці з компонентом-фемінітивом використовуються виключно для маркування жіночих рис та гомосексуальності. Фемінінний компонент на позначення чоловіка імплікує переважно негативну конотацію, а нейтральна та позитивна – виражені опосередковано. На увагу заслуговують реакції на пейоративні фразеологічні одиниці з яскраво вираженою негативною конотацію, де жінки трактуються як сексуальний об’єкт чи додаток до чоловіка. Прояв переважно негативної конотації прослідковувався в реакціях респондентів на фразеологізми з компонентами середнього або чоловічого роду на позначення жіночої статі. Реакції на компонент Mädchen, суфікс -chen якого у німецькій мові актуалізує сему категорії середнього роду, були переважно негативні через вплив денотативно-сигніфікативного значення фразеологізму в цілому. Аналіз нульових асоціацій деяких фразеологізмів з жінкою засвідчив панівну роль чоловіка в цільовій лінгвокультурі. Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette played a significant role in the development of French literature. Her novels vividly depict independent and self-aware women, thereby reflecting the author herself. ...Colette’s works have captured the attention of researchers and have been the subject of numerous studies. In this proposed research, an interdisciplinary approach combining literary and linguistic perspectives is adopted to explore Colette’s literature. The objective of this study is to closely examine the portrayal and circumstances of women and girls in Colette’s work, specifically focusing on the nomino-adjectival collocations involving the lexemes femme and fille used by the author in her six novels from the “Claudine” series. These novels serve as prime examples of Colette’s reclamation of autonomy through her writing. The research will culminate in a literary analysis, contrasting the results obtained through the linguistic methodology with the insights gained from a literary approach.
FROM A PROPER NOUN OR FROM A COMMON NOUN? ON SOME PROBLEMS IN THE MOTIVATION OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS WITH PROPER NAMES
The paper addresses the issue of the motivation of some phraseologisms which ...include components homonymous with proper names (e.g., dookoła wojtek, lit. ‘Wojtek in circles’; w koło macieju, lit.‘Maciej in circles’, both these idioms meaning ‘to keep talking or doing the same thing all the time’; bosy antek, lit. ‘barefoot Antek’, referring to a person from central Poland, historically under Russian occupation; cienki bolek, lit. ‘thin Bolek’ meaning a person who is weak and incompetent). The aim of the study is to indicate some difficulties in an analysis of the origin of such units, which illustrates more general problems in the description of their motivation. In the discussed expressions, the original source of their nominal components remains unclear, which distinguishes them from such unitsas Achilles heel, the shirt of Nessus. The problems identified in the analysis relate to the phenomenon of apelativisation of proper nouns, which is part of the broader issue of the relationship between phraseologism and proper nouns.
