The book brings a thorough review of slope processes, their causes and consequences. Both, prehistoric and recent slope processes in Slovenia are described into deatil. Authors investigated the main ...characteristics of slope processes according to the type of movement (flow, slide, fall), their extent and effects. As geographers, they are interested mainly in the links between natural processes and man. More than sixty different slope processes in Slovenia are described into detail, based upon field work and examination of numerous sources. In this way all types of slope processes are included and described.Review of circumstances if followed by a discussion about the importance of slope processes for spatial planning as well as methodological and practical instructions for hazarad maps elaboration with different methods. Two deterministic methods and a one probabilistic are presented.The documentary value of the book is also increased by the fact that it brings a chapter about a memory of inhabitants on slope processes, as it has been preserved in sacred literature and aitiological narratives.The book can be used for thorough studies of physical geography and related sciences. Plentiful documentary material makes it useful for everyone who would like to explore nature in Slovenia.
Involution of recessional agriculture in the Guécié area (middle valley of Senegal river, Podor Department, Senegal) Recessional cultivation continues to play an important role in the hud economy of ...Senegal River Valley, but it is confronted to difficulties which limit its development. In a context of world food crisis, that agriculture can help the local population of Podor department to better ensure its food. This agriculture was analysis with SPOT images, field investigations and data on agricultural output. The analysis of satellite images SPOT covers two seasons (1999/2000 and 2001/2002). It shows that for the year 1999/2000, 41 % of flooded areas on the SPOT image were cultivated, against 21 % in 2000/2001. The socio-economic survey, show that 67% of farmers interviewed believe that agriculture still has a future in the area.
L’agriculture de décrue continue de jouer un rôle important dans l’économie locale de la vallée du fleuve Sénégal, mais elle est confrontée à des difficultés qui limitent son développement Dans un contexte de crise alimentaire mondiale, force est de reconnaître que cette agriculture peut aider la population locale du département de Podor à mieux assurer son alimentation. Cette agriculture a été analysée en utilisant des images SPOT, des données d’enquêtes de terrain et des données sur le rendement agricole. L’analyse des images satellitales, porte sur deux campagnes agricoles (1999/2000 et 2001/2002), elle montre que pour l’année culturale 1 999/2000, 41 % des surfaces inondées sur la scène SPOT ont été mise en culture contre 21 % pour la campagne agricole 2000/2001. Les enquêtes socio-économiques, montrent que 67% des agriculteurs interrogés pensent que cette agriculture à encore de l’avenir dans la zone.
