Distal radius fractures are the most common of all fractures. Optimal treatment is still debated. Previous studies report substantial changes in treatment trends in recent decades. Few nation-wide ...studies on distal radius fracture epidemiology and treatment exist, none of which provide detailed data on patient and injury characteristics, fracture pattern and mortality. The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiology, fracture classification, current treatment regimens and mortality of distal radius fractures in adults within the context of a large national register study.
We performed a descriptive study using prospectively registered data from the Swedish fracture register. Included were all non-pathological distal radius fractures registered between January 1st 2015 and December 31st 2017 in patients aged 18 years and above. Nominal variables were presented as proportions of all registered fractures.
A total of 23,394 distal radius fractures in 22,962 patients were identified. The mean age was 62.7 ± 17.6 years for all, 65.4 ± 16.0 for women and 53.6 ± 20.0 for men. A simple fall was the most common cause of injury (75%, n = 17,643/23,394). One third (33%, n = 7783/21,723) of all fractures occurred at the patients' residence. 65% (n = 15,178/23,394) of all fractures were classified as extra-articular AO-23-A, 12% (n = 2770/23,394) as partially intra-articular AO-23-B and 23% (n = 5446/23,394) as intra-articular AO-23-C. The primary treatment was non-surgical for 74% (n = 17,358/23,369) and surgical for 26% (n = 6011/23,369) of all fractures. Only 18% of the AO-23-A fractures were treated surgically, compared to 48% of the AO-23-C fractures. The most frequently used surgical method was plate fixation (82%, n = 4954/5972), followed by pin/wire fixation (8.2%, n = 490/5972), external fixation (4.8%, n = 289/5972) and other methods (4.0%, n = 239/5972). The overall 30-day mortality was 0.4% (n = 98/23,394) and the 1-year mortality 2.9% (n = 679/23,394).
This nation-wide observational study provides comprehensive data on the epidemiology, fracture classification and current treatment regimens of distal radius fractures in a western European setting. The most common patient was an eldery woman who sustained a distal radius fracture through a simple fall in her own residence, and whose fracture was extra-articluar and treated non-surgically.

Over the last 60 years, the resources and the research in the Danish Twin Registry (DTR) have periodically been summarized. Here, we give a short overview of the DTR and a more comprehensive ...description of new developments in the twenty-first century. First, we outline our experience over the last decade of combining questionnaire and survey data with national demographic, social, and health registers in Statistics Denmark. Second, we describe our most recent data collection effort, which was conducted during the period 2008-2011 and included both in-person assessments of 14,000+ twins born 1931-1969 and sampling of biological material, hereby expanding and consolidating the DTR biobank. Third, two examples of intensively studied twin cohorts are given. The new developments in the DTR in the last decade have facilitated the ongoing research and laid the groundwork for new research directions.

In this paper, we give the exact formulas of de Bruijn sequences with extremal weights and then prove all the conjectures in the affirmative.
Abstract
Background. Capture rate and representativity of quality registers need to be assessed in order to ensure that register data are generalizable.
Material and methods. In 1998-2009, 103 047 ...men had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and registered in the Swedish Cancer Register to which registration is mandated by law and of these men, 100 849 men (98%) had also been registered in The National Prostate Cancer Register (NPCR) of Sweden. We compared demographics, cancer treatment, comorbidity, and mortality in men in NPCR, with those who had only been registered in the Cancer Register, by use of data from the Cause of Death Register, the In-Patient Register and the Prescribed Drug Register. In addition, we identified 1929 men who had prostate cancer as underlying cause of death in the Cause of Death Register who had neither been registered in the Cancer Register nor in NPCR.
Results. Compared to men in NPCR, men only registered in the Cancer Register were slightly older, median age 72 versus 71 years, and a lower proportion underwent radical prostatectomy, 15% versus 27%. Ten year prostate cancer mortality was 23% (95% CI 20-25) for men in the Cancer Register only and 24% (95% CI 24-25) in NPCR, while mortality from competing causes was 28% (95% CI 26-31) and 30% (95% CI 30-30), respectively. Men identified with prostate cancer by a death certificate were old and had high comorbidity.
Conclusion. The capture rate of NPCR is very high and there are only modest differences in demographics, cancer treatment, comorbidity, and mortality between the small proportion of men only registered in the Cancer Register and men registered in NPCR, indicating that information in NPCR can be generalized to all men with prostate cancer in Sweden.

Graphics processing units (GPUs) achieve high throughput by exploiting a high degree of thread-level parallelism (TLP). To support such high TLP, GPUs have a large-sized register file to store the ...context of all threads, consuming around 20% of total GPU energy. Several previous studies have attempted to minimize the energy consumption of the register file by implementing an emerging non-volatile memory (NVM), leveraging its higher density and lower leakage power over SRAMs. To amortize the cost of long access latency of NVM, prior work adopts a hierarchical register file consisting of an SRAM-based register cache and NVM-based registers where the register cache works as a write buffer. To get the register cache index, they use the partially selected bits of warp ID and register ID. This work observes that such an index calculation causes three types of contentions leading to the underutilization of the register cache: inter-warp , intra-warp , and false contentions. To minimize such contentions, this paper proposes a thread context-aware register cache (TEA-RC) in GPUs. In TEA-RC, the cache index is calculated considering the high correlation between the number of scheduled threads and the register usage of threads. The proposed design shows 28.5% higher performance and 9.1 percentage point lower energy consumption over the conventional register cache that concatenates three bits of warp ID and five bits of register ID to compute the cache index.
