Abstract This research focuses on the analysis of language and narrative in understanding how literary works can contribute to public awareness and understanding of the environmental crisis in ...Indonesia. It serves as an initial step in comprehending the role of language and literature in depicting the environmental crisis in the country. The study aims to reveal how the use of language, narrative, characters, symbolism, environmental context analysis, and environmental crisis analysis in the short story "The Vanishing Smoke" can provide a deeper understanding of the environmental crisis in Indonesia. The research method employed is an in-depth text analysis to comprehend the short story "The Vanishing Smoke." The methodology includes data collection, text analysis, and contextual analysis. The findings include: (1) Language analysis consisting of diction, language style, symbolism, and elements in the short story. (2) Environmental Context Analysis, including environmental context and environmental crisis. (3) Environmental Crisis Analysis, encompassing the messages in the short story, the environmental issue perspective in depicting the main character's feelings, and the implied messages to the public regarding environmental issues. El presente trabajo de investigación constituye un registro de la evolución del microrrelato peruano durante el periodo que comprende los años 2015 a 2020, con la finalidad de establecer que en estos ...años se ha producido un boom de esta modalidad textual en la literatura peruana. Para alcanzar este objetivo, se ha considerado tres planos de análisis: las revistas de microrrelatos, los libros de microrrelatos, y los concursos literarios de este género. En cada uno de estos planos se ha recurrido a los antecedentes más cercanos del microrrelato peruano para comprender el momento que corresponde al periodo examinado. De esta manera, se logra apreciar la existencia de una mayor producción editorial y escritural del microrrelato en la literatura peruana, el cual encuentra su sustento en la difusión que ha tenido durante los años 2015 a 2020.

Sociology is defined as the social life, change, and the causes and consequences of human behavior study. Literature means any written work, and it can refer to a single work itself or a categorical ...understanding of literature. Furthermore, the sociology of literature is a specialized area of study which focuses its attention upon the relationship between a literary work and the social structure in which it is created. The objective of this study is to find out and to describe the elements of a sociology of literature in a short story entitled God Sees the Truth, But Waits by Leo N. Tolstoy. Technically, this study talked about the relation between literature and sociology. This study used sociological methods by describing the characteristics and the facts related to people and particular areas. It explained some aspects like introduction, discussion and description, and closure. The present researchers found sociological aspects such as social facts, social history, social behavior and event, and also literature aspects like jobs, residence, customs, and romance in the discussion and description section in the short story which also as the real-life reflection.
Travels and the longing for afar have been and still are the source of inspiration for many authors. This article analyses Bodo Kirchoff’s short story “Widerfahrnis” (“Encounter”), which belongs to ...the genre of travel literature and extends the literary tradition of German authors to choose the theme of travel to Italy in their work (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Heinrich Heine, Thomas Mann, etc.). The short story raises the existential questions of longing for love, loneliness, confrontation with refugees, and moral and social aspects of relations with them. The article aims to reveal how the structures of experience described by the German phenomenologist Bernhard Waldenfels appear in the work of Bodo Kirchhoff. What happens to us does not happen without our involvement but goes beyond it. The experience begins not with the intentional gaze of the subject, but when someone (a stranger) touches us, encounters us, causes us to react and raises tension. Bernhard Waldenfels attributes the encounter to the realm of pathos, meaning to the realm of feelings. Response or the inevitable response to an encounter comes earlier than an understanding or an answer. Although the title of the short story is in the singular form, it reveals many encounters: a meeting of an older couple, a spontaneous trip to Italy, an encounter with a refugee girl and a refugee family, the birth of love and its loss.

This research aimed to find out whether or not the use of Short Stories can improve vocabulary mastery. The researcher used a pre-experimental one group with pretest and post-test design. The ...instrument used to collect data of this research is a test. The researcher used a vocabulary translating test that consisted of 10 questions and a vocabulary matching test that consisted of 10 questions. There were 20 questions for pre-test and 20 questions for post-test. The research findings show that the students' vocabulary mastery improved by using short Stories. It was shown on the mean score of pre-test 44.82 while the mean score of post-test 76.42 which means higher than pre-test The conclusion is drawn based on the results obtained from the paired-sample T-test.. The significant sig. (2-tailed) of pre-test and post-test 0.000. The sig. (2- tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05 which means the pre-test and post-test has sig < a and can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. From these findings, there was an improvement in vocabulary mastery and it was concluded that the use of Short Stories can improve vocabulary mastery.
