The article presents the results of a study of the planning proposals put forward in the urban planning documents of the second half of the 20th - early 21st century for Novosibirsk. Given the ...changed context of planning system functioning, it is important to develop and apply new spatial models based on a strategic vision for the development of large cities. It is shown that the urban planning approach is the basis for the regulation and development of spatial planning despite the fact that the lack of comprehensive implementation today is contributing to its discrediting. Based on a comparison of strategic plans for large cities in Russia and abroad and Novosibirsk’s urban planning system development, principles of Novosibirsk functional and spatial organization in the 21st century are proposed.
While discussions are ongoing about the exact meaning of car dependence, its assessment has been primarily qualitative. The few quantitative approaches adopted so far have tended to analyze either ...high car use and ownership or a lack of public transport accessibility as indicators of car dependence. This study aims to quantitatively evaluate car dependence in Munich after merging these three aspects—car use, ownership, and lack of public transportation—and identify its associated potential spatial predictors. The exploratory approach is applied to traffic zones in the transit service area around Munich, Germany, which includes calculating an indicator for car dependence and its linkage with socio-spatial factors using multiple linear regression. For this purpose, traffic data from 2017 and census data from 2011 are used, which are the most recent available. It was found that car dependence is higher in suburban areas with low local numbers of employees, low land costs, and high average income tax payments. Identifying areas with higher car dependence and associated factors can help decision makers focus on or prioritize these areas in providing better access to alternative transportation and basic opportunities. Future research could focus on application in additional regions, using recent and aligned data, and further combinations with qualitative research.

, dedicated to the selected results of long-term interdisciplinary academic research on the fundamental ...problems of modern Russia’s spatial development. The uniqueness of the design and content of these studies, conducted in 2009–2019, is revealed as part of a large-scale scientific megaproject. The article describes the goals, content, and results of four research programs successively carried out within its framework: “Fundamental Problems of Spatial Development of the Russian Federation: Interdisciplinary Synthesis” (2009–2011); “The Role of Space in Russia’s Modernization: Natural and Socioeconomic Potential” (2012–2014); “Russia’s Spatial Development in the 21st Century: Nature, Society, and Their Interaction” (2015–2017); “Spatial Restructuring of Russia Taking into Account Geopolitical, Socioeconomic and Geoecological Challenges” (2018–2019). These programs are distinguished by methodological, subject, and organizational continuity. The multifaceted results of research within the framework of the last three programs are published in Russian in the monograph “Challenges and Policy of Russia’s Spatial Development in the 21st Century” (2020). The ten articles in this issue reflect the most important subjects presented in the monograph.
Biologically active areas play an extremely important role in the structure of a city and increasing their coverage, especially in large urban centres, is an activity with a number of advantages. ...This article compares, in terms of green spaces, two European cities of similar size – Warsaw (517.2 km2) and Oslo (454 km2). Both cities are capitals of their respective countries but implement different spatial policies in the scope of the Green Deal. In Warsaw, many industrial and post-industrial areas still exist and simultaneously urban green areas are decreasing year by year. In Oslo, a strategy based on deindustrialisation of the city and possible maximum use of urban greenery and public spaces is implemented. The research described in this article involved analysing the coverage of the analysed cities and their districts with biologically active area and then checking the correlation with other indicators that can be affected by this coverage. These included data on the incidence of the most common diseases among residents, the attractiveness of living for the elderly and families with children, as well as air and soil pollution and the occurrence of negative effects of climate change. The correlation of urban space use in terms of the presence of industrial land in relation to currently existing green spaces in the districts concerned was subsequently determined.
Citizen participation has played an increasingly relevant role in spatial planning and development aiming to shape sustainable and innovative processes since the 1970s. Nevertheless, analogue ...participation is associated with various problems, such as social selectivity and a loss of civic trust in administration and politics. Against this background, high expectations lie in the development of digital participation formats, which have significantly changed the participation landscape. Despite the rapid development of digital participation based on new technologies and external factors such as the Covid-19 pandemic, there is still a lack of comprehensive empirical studies on spatial patterns and determinants. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to give an overview of the patterns, methods and determinants of digital and multi-channel participation in Germany. We comprehensively investigated digital and multi-channel participation processes on the websites of German cities and districts – about 4,000 approaches in total. The results show spatial disparities in digital participation processes. While the availability of broadband internet and public debt do not significantly influence the digital participation density in districts and cities, low election turnouts go along with high densities. This suggests that the administrations are responding to political disinterest with digital participation. The results also indicate that digital participation can be less socially selective, as high shares of population without German citizenship, high migration rates and low employment rates have significant positive effects on digital participation.

he territorial future of rural areas requires the design of scenarios for the development of space, in which it solves all problems in any program. Today, the most important goal of all countries is ...the comprehensive growth and excellence of human societies, and the existence of inequality in various aspects like economic, social, physical, etc. are signs of underdevelopment. Rural development program based on different models in Babol County has not been successful in economic prosperity and improving the lives of villagers and their empowerment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the development indicators of mountain and plain villages of Babol County and in order to achieve the desired goals, both library and field research were used. The present research is descriptive-analytical in terms of field research. The present research is descriptive-analytical in terms of field research. In the beginning, after planning and identifying the problem accurately, organized studies were conducted in order to prepare literature and theoretical review as library research, and in the field research stage, the required data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and the questionnaire was systematically randomly distributed among the statistical population. The validity of the research tool was obtained using the opinion of professors and researchers and the reliability was obtained using Cronbach's alpha with the confidence level of 82%. The statistical population is the villages of Eastern Bandpey District of Babol (4 mountain villages and 4 plain villages) which were selected as the sample by using Cochran's formula of 210 households. In order to measure the research variables, independent tests, Mann–Whitney U test and linear regression were used in SPSS software. The results of the independent t-test demonstrate that there is a significant difference of 99% between the income of rural households in plain villages and mountain villages. So that the villagers in the plain areas have a better economic situation. Furthermore, the results of Mann-Whitey U test for comparing qualitative components illustrate that in terms of widening and asphalting of roads and streets, development of green space and tree planting along the streets, garbage collection and waste management, surface water collection, gas supply, and electricity, there is a significant difference of 99% in the studied villages and the villages in the mountainous areas are not in a good condition. In addition, the results of linear regression analysis indicate that there is an acceptable relationship between rural motivation to stay and rural development facilities and infrastructure, suitable jobs, and sufficient income. the results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that geographic location in spatial development is very effective , so that based on the modified coefficient and coefficient of determination , it was found that development scenarios up to 76 percent are dependent on improving communication lines , accessibility and development infrastructure in rural areas.
The stages of development of the world economy and the peculiarities of the functioning of countries in the world, which are inherent in different time periods, are: changes in trends, emergence and ...increase of socio-economic and socio-political contradictions, importance of certain key factors for the formation of a policy of managing territorial development under different conditions, all this has led to the emergence of a number of spatial development theories. The authors of theories and models of spatial development considered the development of territories from the point of view of a wide range of factors of influence: geographical, administrative, economic, social, political, innovative, etc., characteristic of different time periods. An effective management of territorial development in modern conditions is becoming relevant in terms of the need not only to solve existing problems, but also to expand opportunities for self-development of territories. The implementation of theoretical provisions of spatial development theories has found a practical reflection in different historical periods of the economy of different countries. Theories of spatial development form the basis of the methodology of public administration, which determines the principles, directions of formation and ways to ensure the functioning of organizational structures and relevant mechanisms, models of development and management, approaches to the use of resources, etc. With the help of spatial theories one explains and anticipates trends, develops models and mechanisms of territorial development, forms instruments for their practical implementation. Due to the importance, complexity and interdependence with a whole range of socio-political, socio-economic, ecological and other processes, the issues of theoretical approaches to the formation and functioning of the optimal model of spatial development constantly remain in the field of view of researchers and practitioners of the world, which further determines the prospects and relevance of studying the defined topic.
The article analyses the continuous transformations in the spatial development of the western part of Warsaw from 2001 to 2022. The study utilises cartographic materials and temporal analysis, ...considering pedestrian travel times to planned metro stations in the Bemowo district. An investment analysis of single and multi-family buildings was conducted throughout the Bemowo district and near metro stations. The analysis is based on four time intervals to determine the speed and nature of changes and their impact on land development. The selected analysis periods are 2001–2005, 2005–2010, 2010–2016, and 2016–2022. In 2022, the construction of the last section of the second metro line commenced. The results indicate that the total number of buildings constructed in Bemowo within 833 m of the metro station increased by 298 between 2001 and 2022, representing a growth of 64.5 %. During the same period, the building area increased by 1,237,405 m2, corresponding to a growth of 136.2 % relative to the existing area. The highest increase in the number of new multi-family buildings was observed after 2016, providing evidence of the alignment of the construction and the second metro line station with the transit-oriented development (TOD) concept in the western part of Warsaw.
•After announcing the planned route of the metro line in undeveloped areas, the investment process has commenced•We have examined the periods during the construction of the metro, both in the planning and implementation phases, when the construction of single and multi-family buildings intensifies the most•Within a convenient walking distance, we have noticed the highest level of residential development since 2016
