This paper aims to bring clarity to the term topology as it has been deployed in human geography. We summarize the insights that geographers have garnered from thinking topologically about space and ...power. We find that many deployments of topology both overstretch topology’s conceptual merit and limit its insights for spatial thinking. We show how topology, with its structuralist and modernist baggage, requires some theoretical reworking to be put to work by poststructuralist geographers. Our purpose is not to consolidate a specific topological approach for geographers, but to call for an ongoing consideration of what topology offers poststructuralist spatial theories.

The purpose of the article is concerned with the systematization and generalization of the previous knowledge and theoretical achievements in the field of metamodernism as a cultural phenomenon of ...the 21st century. The interaction of metamodernism with such cultural trends as modernism, postmodernism, and post-postmodernism is determined. The general postulates manifesting the emergence of the new philosophical, aesthetical and cultural trend is defined. After the majority of scholars of postmodernism had emphasized its decline, it became imperative to coin a new terminological name for it to precisely describe the new order in art. Thus, the term “metamodernism” became widely spread as the name of the form of modern culture that had followed the postmodern and therefore needs detailed study and description, which constitutes the vitality of the research. This article aims to research the functions and the assignments as well as to analyze the constituents of metamodernism and the functioning specificity thereof. The methodology consists of the use of general and specific techniques, in particular analysis which makes it possible to research the modern stage of the metamodernist discourse, synthesis due to which manifestation of the new cultural trend is systematized, the descriptive method and abstraction of the preconditions of cognition, such as perception, imagination, understanding, and specifications which make it possible to describe the peculiarities and the interaction of the cultural trends under research with each other, partial prognostication which makes it possible to define the prospects of further research. Scientific novelty. For the first time, the article has systematized understanding of the metamodern as a cultural trend of the 21st century that followed postmodernism and is being actively used to describe the nowadays’ structure of feelings oscillating between the typical modernist coherence and the exclusively postmodernist aloofness. It has also described the functioning conditions thereof due to the emergence of the virtual space. Conclusions. Metamodernism is considered to have emerged and developed due to the emergence of virtual reality since it exists primarily in the virtual space of our lives, which has become available only since the emergence of social networking websites. Simultaneously with writing the manifesto and sketching the boundaries of the new cultural paradigm of 2011, the social network Facebook became open for registration.
This article analyses the role of the African Union (AU) during the Libyan crisis of 2011. It addresses the question of why the AU has not played a central conflict manager role in that crisis. ...Inspired by pragmatic eclecticism, we take a theoretical detour to answer this question. Through a neoclassical realist and post-structuralist lens, we provide a novel eclectic reconsideration of the crisis response and we also highlight shared ground between both perspectives. Our theoretical and empirical discussion moves along the categories 'primacy of power', 'discourses' and 'leader images'. We highlight the ability of dominant powers to influence the unfolding of events with material forms of power but also through immaterial ones such as the advancement of a dominant discourse on a cosmopolitan liberal order related to the responsibility-to-protect.

Syntactic Structures, published by Noam Chomsky in 1957, marked a new, if not revolutionary, stage in the development of Western linguistics. Its impact behind the Iron Curtain has by far received ...much less attention. The text was very soon translated into Russian, in a period of lively discussions on structuralism after the liquidation of Marrism by Stalin in 1950 and the revision of Stalinism in 1956. The paper discusses the general scenario of those years, showing how concrete and strategic needs, such as machine translation and the introduction of mathematical methods in linguistics, paved the way to a formal approach and favored the quite positive and ideologically neutral acceptance of Syntactic Structures among Soviet scholars.

Structuralist thinking lead to the realisation that language is an integral part of thought (idea, concept, belief) - language and thought are both there 'at once' and cannot be disentangled. ...the ...relations that are found between the language and the case, the text and its meanings, were seen as a structure, where all parts are meaningful of - and where all parts constitute 'meaning' or significance in. The understanding is itself part of the structures that interpretation strives to unravel, and all meaning is in that manner construed.

Abstract
Since the 1970s, the construct of resilience has become detached from its original context of trauma and reassembled as a normative behavior, patterned after society’s dominant class. A ...decade after becoming a focus of academic attention, resilience began to influence the advocacy community through the strengths-based approach commonly used by social workers. While many continue to use resilience within the context of trauma, mainstream society has marketed a new construct of resilience with dangerous, underlying assumptions. This conceptual article uses post-structuralism to problematize the construct of resilience within social work and provides suggestions on how to more cautiously and comprehensively implement resilience in social work education, practice, and research. This theoretical application of post-structuralism in social work is important in that it urges social workers to be more critical and to better advocate for marginalized groups through practices and methodologies. This work provides direction for future research, methodological and theoretical positioning for researchers, and guidance for skill building in social work education.
