It is essential to effectively integrate supply chain management and quality management, but a quality chain of suppliers and customers is a complex system relationship that remains poorly ...understood. An improved DEMATEL (Decision making trial and evaluation laboratory) and ISM (Interpretive structural modeling) integration approach was proposed to establish a systematic causal and hierarchical relationship of the quality enablers of supplier chain quality management (SCQM). The MICMAC method (cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification) was also used to classify the quality enablers of SCQM based on driving force and dependence force. The results suggest that organizations that develop SCQM implementation strategies should focus on quality enablers with high driving force, particularly on the quality enablers of strategy and leadership, information system usage and analysis, and cooperation and synergy of suppliers.
Purpose - This research aims to develop a supplier risk assessment methodology for measuring, tracking, and analyzing supplier and part specific risk over time for an automotive manufacturer.Design ...methodology approach - Supply chain risk literature is analyzed and used in conjunction with interviews from the automotive manufacturer to identify risks in the supply base. These risks are incorporated into the development of a temporal risk assessment and monitoring system.Findings - A framework of risk factors important to the auto manufacturer is presented. A multi-criteria scoring procedure is developed to calculate part and supplier risk indices. These indices are used in the development of a risk assessment and monitoring system that allows the indices to be tracked over time to identify trends towards higher risk levels.Research limitations implications - There are a number of operational issues identified in the paper that could be investigated in future research. One such issue is the development of alternative risk assessment methods that would increase the sensitivity of the risk analysis.Practical implications - The framework is implementable in firms interested in understanding and controlling risk in their supply base. The research stems from an industry project with an automotive manufacturer. The method is designed to be practical and easy to implement and maintain. The system also has a visual reporting mechanism designed to provide early warning signals for potential problems in the supply base and to show temporal changes in risk.Originality value - This paper presents a dynamic risk analysis methodology that analyzes and monitors supplier risk levels over time.
Supplier selection is a critical decision-making process for any organization, as it directly impacts the quality, cost, and reliability of its products and services. However, the supplier selection ...problem can become highly complex due to the uncertainties and vagueness associated with it. To overcome these complexities, multi-criteria decision analysis, and fuzzy logic have been used to incorporate uncertainties and vagueness into the supplier selection process. These techniques can help organizations make informed decisions and mitigate the risks associated with supplier selection. In this article, a complex picture fuzzy soft set (cpFSS), a generalized fuzzy set-like structure, is developed to deal with information-based uncertainties involved in the supplier selection process. It can maintain the expected information-based periodicity by introducing amplitude and phase terms. The amplitude term is meant for fuzzy membership, and the phase term is for managing its periodicity within the complex plane. The cpFSS also facilitates the decision-makers by allowing them the opportunity to provide their neutral grade-based opinions for objects under observation. Firstly, the essential notions and set-theoretic operations of cpFSS are investigated and illustrated with examples. Secondly, a MADM-based algorithm is proposed by describing new matrix-based aggregations of cpFSS like the core matrix, maximum and minimum decision value matrices, and score. Lastly, the proposed algorithm is implemented in real-world applications with the aim of selecting a suitable supplier for the provision of required materials for construction projects. With the sensitivity analysis of score values through Pythagorean means, it can be concluded that the results and rankings of the suppliers are consistent. Moreover, through structural comparison, the proposed structure is proven to be more flexible and reliable as compared to existing fuzzy set-like structures.
In the following paper, I examine the considerable impact of the recent world-economic shift that has determined the circumstances of Hungarian suppliers' value-chain integration. I argue that as a ...result of the specialized positions they occupied in the value-chain after the collapse of the Comecon market, Hungarian enterprises in export-oriented industries faced a dilemma—a trade-off between obtaining the most advanced technologies (and thus access to world-market niches) and retaining ownership in the hands of domestic capital. When company managers opted to protect ownership with the help of the state, they exposed themselves to greater risk of downgrading their position in the value chain. If they managed to get access to advanced technologies (and the requisite funding), they were more likely to lose control over their company's assets, either as a result of a hostile takeover or becoming part of the larger partner's merger-and-acquisition plans. This paper is a discussion of some of the particular characteristics of this dilemma, as well as a comparison with the experience of Hungarian service providers who implemented a different strategy. This paper is also a critical assessment of some of the chief characteristics of the world-economic evolution that has been underway since 2009, such as German automotive value chains' expansion in the CEE region and the growing role of Chinese capital in regional infrastructural projects.
With the globalization of the economy, the aviation market competition intensifies and the aviation product development mode has correspondingly changed. The aircraft manufacturers pack more and more ...works to the suppliers to join the development work. The role of suppliers becomes more and more important during the development. Therefore, the problems of suppliers are following which have a significant influence on the aircraft design, manufacture and EIS which is means through the whole lifecycle of the aircraft.
On January 16, 2013, an ANA flight made an emergency landing in western Japan after a cockpit message warned of battery problems and a burning smell was detected in the cockpit and cabin. At the same time, the FAA issued an emergency airworthiness directive ordering all U.S.-based airlines to ground their Boeing 787s until yet-to-be-determined modifications are made to the electrical system to reduce the risk of the battery overheating or catching fire. This is the first time that the FAA has grounded an airliner type since 1979. This event caused that Boeing shares has fell 2.6%. It is not the only accident of Boeing 787. Similarly, for other aircraft types, such as the Airbus A380, had to delay delivery due to supplier problem. It can be conclude that the supply chain management has an important impact on the aircraft development. From the perspective of airworthiness, this paper analyze the suppliers management of Boeing 787 Dreamliner battery issue and some advices are given to provide references and learnt lessons to the aircraft industry.

Based on the investigation of the production and sales of complete vehicles equipped with driving assistance system (ADAS) in 2020, as well as the current situation analysis and prediction of the ...market penetration of the main functions of ADAS, this paper puts forward that 2022-2025 will be the window period for the rapid development of auxiliary driving vehicles. Through the investigation of the development of main safety technologies of ADAS and the overview of the current situation of auxiliary driving functions, this paper analyzes the reasons for the supply interruption of vehicle specification chip supply chain and the current situation of production capacity in recent one year, and puts forward that vehicle and parts enterprises, including government departments, should rethink the industrial chain layout of automobile chips in the next five years, so as to promote the commercialization of domestic auxiliary driving vehicles (equipped with ADAS) as soon as possible.
This project intends to (1) examine the current practices of green collaboration in Taiwan and the Unites States, and (2) to develop and test a theoretical model based on Transaction Cost Economics ...(TCE). Unlike previous TCE studies in the supply chain management literature that primarily examines the relationships between transaction attributes (asset specificity, risk, frequency) and make-buy decision, this project focuses on how managers could operationalize two governance mechanisms (contractual clauses and relational adaptation) to enhance the effectiveness of green collaboration. Data were collected from 205 manufacturing plants in Taiwan and USA to test the model. The results reveal the relative effectiveness of the two primary governance mechanisms, contract and relational adaptation; this is an important issue that previous TCE studies fail to address. The results also provide the mangers with the guidelines of utilizing both mechanisms, which would definitely be helpful to the implementation of green initiatives.
