Introduction- Introduce the topic of the continuity of psychoses and its relevance in contemporary psychiatry.- Present authors as Henry EY, Jim van Os and Germán Berrios as key figures in the ...discussion on this topic, highlighting Ey, Dr. Jim van Os’s significant contributions to the understanding of the continuum of psychosis, Germán Berrios’s historical and cultural perspectives, and the importance of Bartolomé Llopis’s critical viewpoint. We also review the evolutionary approach about mental disorders as a keypoint in this discussion.ObjectivesAnalyzing and comparing the theses of Jim van Os, Ey, Germán Berrios, and Bartolomé Llopis’s critical perspective. about the continuum of the psychosis and the importance of this neverending question for its use in the clinical practice.MethodsI will present a detailed literature review and a textual analysis of their writings.Results- Provide a brief description of Jim van Os’s theses highlighting his key ideas:- Dimensional Approach: promotes a dimensional approach to understanding psychosis, viewing psychotic experiences as continuous variables rather than categorical entities. This challenges the traditional diagnostic system.- Psychotic-Like Experiences: His research focuses on “psychotic-like experiences” (PLEs) in non-clinical populations, including mild hallucinations or paranoid thoughts.- Transdiagnostic Perspective: His work contributes to a transdiagnostic perspective, suggesting flexibility in diagnostic boundaries in psychiatry.- Next, introduce Germán Berrios’s theses on the same topic, emphasizing his historical and cultural perspectives and recognition of individual variability.- Finally, introduce Bartolomé Llopis’s critical perspective:- Llopis criticizes simplistic models of psychosis, arguing that they fail to capture the complexity of individual experiences.- He advocates for comprehensive assessments that consider not only symptomatology but also the unique contexts and histories of individuals.- While Ramón y Cajal is best known for his contributions to neuroscience and neuroanatomy, he did not directly apply Darwinian principles to his work in those fields. However He believed that an understanding of the evolutionary history of the brain and nervous system could provide valuable insights into their structure and function.Conclusions- Highlight the potential for a more comprehensive and holistic approach to understanding and addressing psychotic experiences within an evolutionary context.- The relationship between the continuum of psychosis and evolutionism is a complex and multifaceted topic. It involves exploring how the concept of the continuum of psychosis, which suggests that psychotic experiences exist on a spectrum in the general population, may relate to evolutionary theories and perspectives on mental health. We will explain some key points to consider about this and the main psychiatrists whicha dealt with this question.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared
This book is for graduate students--and others--who want to become more productive writers. It's especially written for those who want to: •increase their motivation, focus, and persistence to move a ...project to completion •overcome procrastination and perfectionistic tendencies •reduce (or write in spite of) their anxiety and fear of writing •manage their time, work, energy (and advisor) for greater productivityWhile Jan Allen recognizes that writing is not an innate talent for most of us, she demonstrates that it is a process based on skills which we can identify, learn, practice and refine. She focuses both on the process and habits of writing as well as on helping you uncover what kind of writeryou are, and reflect on your challenges and successes. With a light touch and an engaging sense of humor, she proposes strategies to overcome procrastination and distractions, and build a writing practice to enable you to become a more productive and prolific writer.

As location‐enabled technologies are becoming ubiquitous, our location is being shared with an ever‐growing number of external services. Issues revolving around location privacy—or ...geoprivacy—therefore concern the vast majority of the population, largely without knowing how the underlying technologies work and what can be inferred from an individual's location (especially if recorded over longer periods of time). Research, on the other hand, has largely treated this topic from isolated standpoints, most prominently from the technological and ethical points of view. This article therefore reflects upon the current state of geoprivacy from a broader perspective. It integrates technological, ethical, legal, and educational aspects and clarifies how they interact and shape how we deal with the corresponding technology, both individually and as a society. It does so in the form of a manifesto, consisting of 21 theses that summarize the main arguments made in the article. These theses argue that location information is different from other kinds of personal information and, in combination, show why geoprivacy (and privacy in general) needs to be protected and should not become a mere illusion. The fictional couple of Jane and Tom is used as a running example to illustrate how common it has become to share our location information, and how it can be used—both for good and for worse.
Students are generally required to demonstrate diverse skills when writing their bachelor thesis. Accordingly, examiners are expected to consider all these skills when assessing the thesis, regularly ...with one overall grade. In this study, we examine which criteria of a rubric contribute most to the overall assessment. The study is performed through quantitative analyses of 318 theses of undergraduate biology students. The analyses demonstrate that all criteria scores are predictive, but that scientific quality and professional attitude give the best prediction of thesis grade, together with structure. The predictiveness of scientific quality and professional attitude correspond with the instructions given to examiners that these are important criteria to consider. Presentation-related criteria scores on writing skills and expressing catchy and justifying titles give the lowest prediction of grade. This study identifies that some criteria appear more predictive for low grades than for high grades, with professional attitude being a good predictor for low grades and abstract being a good predictor for high grades. We recommend similar analyses for students to help them prioritise the most relevant criteria, for supervisors to instruct students on these criteria, and for education managers to evaluate whether bachelor theses are assessed on the criteria they find most relevant.

Jaśkowski's discussive (discursive) logic D2 is historically one of the first para-consistent logics, i.e., logics that 'tolerate' contradictions. Following Jaśkowski's idea to define his discussive ...logic by means of the modal logic S5 via special translation functions between discussive and modal languages and supporting at the same time the tradition of paracomplete logics being the counterpart of paraconsistent ones, we present a paracomplete discussive logic Dp2.

Supervisory feedback is crucial for students to accomplish graduate research and learn from the process. Despite its importance, supervisory feedback on master's theses has been under-researched. ...This article presents the findings of a mixed-methods study that examined supervisory feedback on English medium master's theses in the English-as-a-foreign-language context of Nepal. The study sample consisted of 118 thesis drafts and 32 interviews across four disciplines at a comprehensive public university in Nepal. Analyses revealed that a considerable amount of supervisory feedback was outright criticism, which students found demotivating, discouraging, and self-esteem busting. Overall, supervisory feedback seemed to create little affordance for students' academic discourse socialisation. The analyses also demonstrated disciplinary variations in the formulation and functions of feedback comments. Pedagogical implications derived from findings are provided to enhance the effectiveness of supervisory feedback.
