Más allá de las etapas históricas, el thriller es un género en constante evolución que mantiene su esencia, aunque cambien el punto de vista, los temas y el espacio en el que se desarrolla la ...historia. Por ello, se pueden citar varios subgéneros, algunos de los cuales han alcanzado un notable éxito tanto en la narrativa como en el cine y la televisión. El objetivo de nuestro estudio, Hierro, se inspira en algunos de los subgéneros más populares en la actualidad, como el llamado nordic noir y el rural noir. En este trabajo se analiza el escenario en el que transcurre el relato, muy alejado de la ciudad habitual del cine negro y de las brumas que envuelven el Nordic noir, un espacio que podríamos definir como no ciudad.
Au-delà des étapes de sa construction historique, le thriller est un genre en constante évolution qui maintient son essence, malgré des variations en termes de point de vue, de thèmes et d’espaces où se déroule l’histoire. Ainsi, parmi les sous-genres que l’on peut citer, certains ont rencontré un succès remarquable aussi bien dans le champ de la littérature de fiction qu’au cinéma et à la télévision. L’objet de notre étude, Hierro, s’inspire de quelques-uns des sous-genres les plus populaires à ce jour, tels que le nordic noir et le rural noir. Ce travail analyse le décor dans lequel s’inscrit le récit, très éloigné de la ville habituelle du cinéma noir et des brumes qui enveloppent le nordic noir, un espace que l’on pourrait définir comme « non-ville ».
Beyond historical stages, thriller is a constantly evolving genre that maintains its essence, although the point of view, themes and space in which the story takes place change. For this reason, several sub-genres can be cited, some of which have achieved notable success in narrative as well as in cinema and television. The objective of our study, Hierro, draws on some of the most popular current sub-genres, such as the so-called nordic noir and rural noir. This essay analyses the setting in which these stories take place, far from the usual city in film noir and lacking the haze that envelops nordic noir, a location that could be defined as non-city.

Aunque estos filmes cumplen las reglas del género criminal, son permeados por el profundo bagaje que posee la capital andaluza en el imaginario colectivo. Con el fin de descifrar las claves de su representación, se parte de la propuesta de análisis textual del espacio como personaje de Casetti y Di Chio (1991), reformulada en Toscano-Alonso, Raya Bravo y Pacheco-Jiménez (2021), sin dejar de lado los tópicos del thriller, que acaban moldeando tres películas profundamente enraizadas en el género pero también arraigadas en la ciudad.
Cet article a pour objectif d’analyser la façon dont thriller et idiosyncrasie culturelle se combinent dans trois films espagnols, Nadie conoce a nadie, Grupo 7 y Adiós, qui se déroulent intégralement à Séville. Bien que ces films respectent les règles du genre criminel, ils sont imprégnés de l’identité profonde de la capitale andalouse dans l’imaginaire collectif. Afin de déchiffrer les clés de leur représentation, nous partirons de la proposition d’analyse textuelle de l’espace comme personnage de Casetti et Di Chio (1991), reformulée par Toscano-Alonso, Raya-Bravo et Pacheco-Jiménez (2012), sans écarter les lieux communs du thriller, qui modèlent en fin de compte trois œuvres profondément enracinées dans le genre mais aussi dans la ville.
The aim of this article is to analyse the way in which thriller and cultural idiosyncrasies are combined in three Spanish films, Nadie conoce a nadie, Grupo 7 y Adiós, which occur entirely in Seville. Although these films do not lose sight of the rules of the criminal genre, they are permeated by the deep baggage that the Andalusian capital has in the collective imagination. To decipher the keys to its representation, we start from the proposal of a textual analysis of space as a character by Casetti and Di Chio (1991), reformulated in Toscano-Alonso, Raya Bravo and Pacheco-Jiménez (2021), without leaving aside the topics of the thriller, which end up shaping three films deeply rooted in the genre but also rooted in the city.
El motivo urbano, y la ciudad de Madrid en particular, es el marco elegido por Teresa Valero para ambientar su álbum negro, Contrapaso. Los hijos de los otros. En este cómic, el lector sigue los ...pasos de los reporteros Emilio Sanz y Léon Lenoir, dos hombres que no tienen casi nada en común. El marco donde se sitúa la acción, el Madrid de la posguerra civil bajo el yugo de la dictadura franquista, desempeña un papel decisivo en este thriller, en cuya trama se entrecruzan varios feminicidios, abusos psiquiátricos, prácticas urbanísticas ilegales y el caso de los niños robados del franquismo. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la importancia de la ambientación madrileña y su representación visual, pero también el modo en que la ciudad supera su condición decorativa, para dar ritmo a la trama gráfica de Contrapasos, por un lado, centrándose en los escenarios míticos de la capital española y, por otro, examinando el modo en que el entorno urbano madrileño se convierte en un nuevo personaje del cómic.

Dans cette bande dessinée, le lecteur suit les traces des chroniqueurs de faits divers Emilio Sanz et Léon Lenoir, deux hommes que presque tout oppose. Le cadre où se déroule l’action, le Madrid de l’après-guerre civile, sous le joug de la dictature franquiste, joue un rôle déterminant dans ce thriller, dont la trame entremêle plusieurs féminicides, des abus psychiatriques, des pratiques urbanistiques illégales et le cas des enfants volés du franquisme. Cette étude a pour objectif d’analyser l’importance du cadre madrilène et sa représentation visuelle, mais également la manière dont la ville dépasse le statut décoratif, afin de rythmer l'intrigue graphique de Contrapasos, d’une part, en se focalisant sur les décors mythiques de la capitale espagnole et, d’autre part, en examinant de quelle manière l’environnement urbain madrilène devient un nouveau personnage de la bande dessinée.
The urban motif, and in particular the city of Madrid, is the setting chosen by Teresa Valero to lay the foundations for her album noir, Contrapaso. Los hijos de los otros. In this comic book, the reader follows the tracks of the crime reporters Emilio Sanz and Léon Lenoir, two men who are almost diametrically opposed. The urban setting of post-Civil War Madrid, under the yoke of Franco’s dictatorship, plays a decisive role in this thriller, which combines several feminicides, psychiatric abuses, illegal urban planning practices and the case of Franco’s stolen children. The aim of this study is not only to analyse the setting of Madrid and its visual representation, but also the way in which the city goes beyond its environmental status, in order to give rhythm to the graphic plot of Contrapasos, on the one hand, by focusing on the mythical settings of the Spanish capital and, on the other, by examining the way in which the metropolitan environment of Madrid becomes a new character in the comic book.

Even if James M. Cain’s novels are officially identified as “hardboiled,” they plumb the depths of Zolaesque naturalism beyond the shadow of a doubt. Cainian naturalism taps into the ideas of the ...Italian school of criminology while adding more recent viewpoints because the naturalistic work developed up to a new era, a period of impressive medical, psychological and sociological progress. Furthermore, hardboiled writers, even if they held fast to detective and Mafiosi stories, prepared the ground for a new representation of criminological-oriented art – professional criminals had started to make room for neophytes and empowered women. This paper points out the obvious similarities between European naturalism and American hardboiled. Characters are beasts in which ferocity always seems to be about to rouse. The downfalls often surface from overwhelming figures of authority. The ghosts of the victims, the lawyers or the boss stop the couples in their tracks. The passionate and bloody impetus they had stops dead. But they had previously been warned; naturalism and the hardboiled fiction disseminate omens. From Zola’s to Cain’s, storylines have fatalistic hues.

(Eliade, 1994, p.168) In each of the chapters of the volume under discussion, the author further elaborates on Eliade’s concept of architectural body, finding it under sundry metamorphoses in the iconic literary modernist works from Europe and USA.
