Strain elastography as used in EUS (EUS-real-time tissue elastography RTE) is a qualitative technique and provides information on the relative stiffness between one tissue and another. This article ...reviews the principles, technique, and interpretation of EUS-RTE in various organs. It includes information on how to optimize the technique as well as a discussion on pitfalls and artifacts. We also refer to the article describing RTE using conventional ultrasound transducers.
•The demand for training on hereditary cancer among physicians is very high.•Participants of our training courses improved their knowledge and felt more certain.•Our training might improve care in ...terms of genetic counseling and testing.•Mutation detection rates increased due to the specialized training courses.
To strengthen cross-sectoral care by disseminating specialized knowledge about hereditary breast and ovarian cancer across underserved areas.
We report on a training course about genetic counseling and testing of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer patients for gynecologists from certified cancer centers. In total, 50 gynecologists attended the course which was offered once annually between 2017 and 2019. Before and after the course, participants were asked to answer a self-assessment questionnaire and completed the training with a multiple-choice test. The results of the self-assessments and knowledge tests were analyzed to steadily improve the training.
The self-assessments imply a perceived increase in certainty regarding the inclusion criteria for specialized genetic counseling, pedigree analysis, and contents of the initial consultation. Both the knowledge tests and self-assessments showed that participants had difficulties in interpreting and differentiating between age-specific and lifetime risks.
The courses successfully conveyed knowledge necessary to identify patients at risk and to provide timely genetic analyses even in rural areas.
The results are a promising basis for creating additional training courses addressing specialists in hospitals and gynecological practices. Further education of physicians might improve cross-sectoral cooperation and thereby enable specialized care supply in rural areas.
Evidence proves that health care providers should promote cardiac rehabilitation (CR) to patients face-to-face to increase CR enrollment. An online course was designed to promote this at the bedside; ...it is evaluated herein in terms of reach, effect on knowledge, attitudes, discussion self-efficacy and practices, and satisfaction.
Design was observational, one-group pre- and post-test. Some demographics were requested from learners taking all language versions of the 20-min course: English, Portuguese, French, Spanish, and simplified Chinese, available at: https://globalcardiacrehab.com/CR-Utilization. Investigator-generated items in the pre- and post-test and evaluation survey administered using Google Forms were based on Kirkpatrick's training evaluation model.
The course was initiated by 522 learners from 33 of 203 (16%) countries; most commonly female (n = 341, 65%) nurses (n = 180, 34%) from high-income countries (n = 259, 57%) completing the English (n = 296, 57%) and Chinese (n = 108, 21%) versions. A total of 414 (79%) learners completed the post-test and 302 (58%) completed the evaluation. Median CR attitudes were 5 of 5 on the Likert scale at pre-test, suggesting some selection bias. Mean CR knowledge (7.22 ± 2.14/10), discussion self-efficacy (3.86 ± 0.85/5), and practice (4.13 ± 1.11/5) significantly improved after completion of the course (all P < .001). Satisfaction was high regardless of language version (4.44 ± 0.64/5; P = .593).
This free, open-access course is effective in increasing CR knowledge, self-efficacy, and encouragement practices among participating inpatient cardiac providers, with high satisfaction. While testing impact on actual CR use is needed, it should be more broadly disseminated to increase reach, in an effort to increase patient enrollment in CR, to reduce morbidity and mortality.
With the development of computer and the continuous development of science and technology, people are now in the era of rapid development of information. The arrival of the "Internet" era has a ...certain impact on the current education model. Traditional teaching concepts and modes can no longer meet the needs of current social development. Under the background of "Internet", the comprehensive training courses of accounting in higher vocational colleges should be continuously optimized and improved. In the course of the implementation of the comprehensive accounting training course, the main role of students is brought into full play, students' interest in learning in the teaching process is stimulated, students' practical operation ability is greatly improved, and problems in future work can be solved better based on computer-aided technology by using existing knowledge.
Objectives:
Program evaluation is an essential function for public health professionals that is necessary to acquire funding for public health programs and support evidenced-based practice, but ...coverage of program evaluation principles and methodology within the master of public health (MPH) curriculum is inconsistent and may not adequately prepare students to conduct program evaluation activities postgraduation, especially on culturally responsive program evaluation. We examined the effectiveness of an online training course on program evaluation topics.
Methods:
In July 2021, we recruited current and recently graduated MPH students from accredited US universities to measure the effectiveness of a 1-hour online training course in program evaluation. We distributed pre- and postsurveys to eligible participants. We assessed program evaluation skills on a 4-point Likert scale to determine improvements in knowledge (from 4 = extremely knowledgeable to 1 = not knowledgeable), attitudes (from 4 = strongly agree to 1 = strongly disagree), and self-efficacy (from 4 = strongly agree to 1 = strongly disagree).
Results:
Among 80 MPH students who completed the survey, respondents indicated mean (SD) increases from presurvey to postsurvey in knowledge (from 2.13 0.66 to 3.24 0.54) and attitudes (from 3.61 0.51 to 3.84 0.30) toward program evaluation and in self-efficacy in conducting program evaluation (from 2.92 0.71 to 3.44 0.52).
Conclusion:
The course may be an effective approach for training public health professionals about program evaluation. Our results provide a basis for revising the way program evaluation is taught and practical recommendations for integrating program evaluation competencies within public health curricula, such as by incorporating a self-paced training course for continuing education.
This study aims to understand the experiences of preschool teachers' outdoor education experiences in their curriculum after taking the Outdoor Education in Early Childhood Course. In this ...qualitative study, grounded theory was applied to analyzing data that were collected through an open-ended form and individual and focus group interviews. Results consisted of a main category, namely change in the quantity and content of outdoor education. According to the results, the teachers' experiences changed to increase and enrich OE. The study revealed that improving the quantity and content of outdoor education by teachers leads to improvement in three interrelated categories: change in pedagogical approach, personal development, and children's development. These categories are development in coping with obstacles, risky play approach, communication style with children, child-centered practices, self-efficacy, emotional self-regulation, motivation to teach, problem-solving skills, and holistic development of children. Furthermore, all these developments function as mutually reinforcing factors.
Objective In order to improve the ability of clinical teachers in standardized training program of emergency residents Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) design and run an immersive course ...in teacher training program. The study aims to investigate the effects of the training course. Methods Totally 34 trainees who were emergency clinical teachers accepted the immersive course training focus on clinical rounds and bedside teaching skills. The courses included curriculum design procedure, assessment tool,teacher-student interaction skills and bedside teaching methods. Questionnaire of pre-course, post-course immediately, and 3-month post-course were collected among the trainees. Non-parametric Kruskal-Wailis H test and U test were used to assess effects of the training. Results All trainees reported an increase in ability and confidence in teaching skills, especially significant in improving teacher-student interaction skills and significant increase in confidence in bedside teaching(P<0.05). And the
ObjectiveTo assess whether the implementation of an intrapartum training package (PROMPT (PRactical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training)) across a health service reduced the proportion of term ...babies born with Apgar score <7 at 5 min (<75mins).DesignStepped-wedge cluster randomised controlled trial.SettingTwelve randomised maternity units with ≥900 births/year in Scotland. Three additional units were included in a supplementary analysis to assess the effect across Scotland. The intervention commenced in March 2014 with follow-up until September 2016.InterventionThe PROMPT training package (Second edition), with subsequent unit-level implementation of PROMPT courses for all maternity staff.Main outcome measuresThe primary outcome was the proportion of term babies with Apgar<75mins.Results87 204 eligible births (99.2% with an Apgar score), of which 1291 infants had an Apgar<75mins were delivered in the 12 randomised maternity units. Two units did not implement the intervention. The overall Apgar<75mins rate observed in the 12 randomised units was 1.49%, increasing from 1.32% preintervention to 1.59% postintervention. Once adjusted for a secular time trend, the ‘intention-to-treat’ analysis indicated a moderate but non-significant reduction in the rate of term babies with an Apgar scores <75mins following PROMPT training (OR=0.79 95%CI(0.63 to 1.01)). However, some units implemented the intervention earlier than their allocated step, whereas others delayed the intervention. The content and authenticity of the implemented intervention varied widely at unit level. When the actual date of implementation of the intervention in each unit was considered in the analysis, there was no evidence of improvement (OR=1.01 (0.84 to 1.22)). No intervention effect was detected by broadening the analysis to include all 15 large Scottish maternity units. Units with a history of higher rates of Apgar<75mins maintained higher Apgar rates during the study (OR=2.09 (1.28 to 3.41)) compared with units with pre-study rates aligned to the national rate.ConclusionsPROMPT training, as implemented, had no effect on the rate of Apgar <75mins in Scotland during the study period. Local implementation at scale was found to be more difficult than anticipated. Further research is required to understand why the positive effects observed in other single-unit studies have not been replicated in Scottish maternity units, and how units can be best supported to locally implement the intervention authentically and effectively.Trial registration number ISRCTN11640515.
