Rad se bavi istraživanjem popularnosti američkih urbanih legendi. Urbana legenda ili mit vrsta
je modernog folklora koja se sastoji od priča u čiju se istinitost vjeruje iako zvuče nevjerojatno te
...govori o običajima današnjeg vremena. Izraz urban odnosi se na vremensko određenje i njime se
označavaju mitovi i legende koji opstaju u modernom svijetu, a skloni su postupnom mijenjanju
i različitosti. U drugoj polovici 20. st. proširio se kontekst proučavanja predaja, najprije u američkoj
folkloristici, pa se tako predaje više ne proučavaju samo u ruralnim sredinama. Svaka
kultura posjeduje svoje tradicionalne priče na kojima je nastala, a najpoznatije urbane legende u
svijetu mogu se svrstati u kategorije prema zajedničkim obilježjima: priče o duhovima, spodobama
i utvarama, priče o ubojicama i luđacima na slobodi, priče o mističnim bićima, priče o
posebnim područjima. S obzirom na to da se kontekst proučavanja predaja najprije proširio u
američkoj folkloristici, provedeno je anketiranje u kojemu je bilo navedeno deset poznatih, američkih
urbanih legendi te su sudionici trebali odgovoriti jesu li čuli za pojedinu legendu ili ne. U
istraživanju je sudjelovalo 274 sudionika.
Zusammenfassung
Moderne Sagen operieren mit Stereotypisierungen, um in der immer komplexer werdenden Welt Sinnstiftung und Orientierung zu geben. Indem sie Grenzüberschreitungen sanktionieren, sind ...sie einerseits an der Wiederherstellung fester Ordnungssysteme interessiert, die auf kategorialen Vereindeutigungen beruhen. Andererseits entlarven sie durch die Inszenierung von – oft interkulturellen – Missverständnissen die Willkür sprachlicher Benennungssysteme. Unter diesem Zeichen lassen sich auch die Mensch-Tier-Begegnungen lesen. So thematisieren viele
urban legends
Fälle von Deterritorialisierung und gescheiterter Domestizierung, womit ein anthropozentrisches Framing subversiv unterlaufen werden kann. Eindeutige Gattungszuschreibungen erweisen sich hier als fragwürdig und somit folgt auch die interspezifische Begegnung keinem eindeutigen, d. h. habitualisierten Muster mehr. Die Tier-Mensch-Begegnungen gewinnen somit (zumindest temporär) an Offenheit, die formal auch der Gattung der
urban legends
selbst eingeschrieben ist.

Danish Folktales, Legends, and Other Stories is a collection of translated and annotated Nordic folklore that presents full repertoires of five storytellers along with extensive archival material. ...The printed book presents some of the most compelling stories of these five important storytellers along with historical and biographical introductions. Of a length suitable for course use, it provides a substantive and enjoyable encounter with Danish folklore. The Danish Folklore Nexus on the accompanying DVD includes the storytellers' full repertoires plus 500 additional stories in both Danish and English along with essays on the changing political, social, and economic landscapes of nineteenth-century Denmark, the history of folklore scholarship, critical approaches to folklore, and comprehensive biographies of the storytellers. It also provides links between related stories and interactive maps that allow readers to see where the stories are set and where they were collected, and a mechanism to search for themes and topics across all the stories.
The basis of the work is the collection of Evald Tang Kristensen (1843-1929). As a young schoolteacher Kristensen set out across Denmark to collect the folktales, ballads, legends, and stories that he saw as the vestiges of a disappearing folk culture. Over the course of five decades he collected thousands of stories and kept detailed biographical notes about the storytellers he met.

Herausgearbeitet wird die Frage, auf welche Weise die Beschäftigung mit dem Mittelalter von medialen, chronologischen oder nationalen Binnenstrukturen geprägt ist und inwiefern dabei unterschiedliche Akzentuierungen des Erinnerns als Mythos oder als Geschichte eine Rolle spielen. Este artículo analiza la relación entre la poética del discurso fantástico y la del humorístico que tiene lugar en Institutos, obra del colectivo de creadoras de cómic conocido como Caniculadas. ...Ambos discursos comparten una estructura formal basada en el relato breve que finaliza con un giro argumental en el que encontramos una mezcla de efectos: terror y risa. Estos dos efectos operan, sin embargo, en diferentes niveles discursivos. Por una parte, en la estructura profunda existe una historia terrorífica basada en leyendas urbanas que son decodificadas desde una perspectiva irónica. Por otro lado, en el nivel más superficial, el lector encuentra un cierto tipo de broma que atempera el miedo causado por un relato insólito. Estas dos tendencias narrativas se solapan una sobre la otra creando un texto polifónico. Lo fantástico pervive como la huella de un viejo discurso heredado que ha sido renovado por una perspectiva femenina moderna y subversiva.
Transmedia storytelling can be created by a bottom-up process in the case of
the Black-Eyed-Kids/Children horror urban legend taking into account evil
(and, maybe, vampire-like) children characters. ...That is to say, this fictional
storyworld is built from real testimonials in British and American press
(Birmingham Mail or Daily Mail, for example) and TV shows and these stories
engage audience promoting fandom practices as fanfics. In addition, these
fanfics spread into a popular/audience request in Kickstarter platform in order
to gain economic benefits to produce The Hauting of Sunshine Girl and The
Black Eyed Children (2009) films. In 2015 Black Eyed Children: Let Me in
(Justin Synder) film and graphic novel Black-Eyed Kids (Aftershock, 2016) by
Joe Pruett and Szymon Kudranski were based also in this (transmedia?) horror
urban legend.
La leyenda urbana de terror sobrenatural de The Black-Eyed-Kids/Children
puede ser entendida como el primer producto de una narrativa transmedia
teniendo presente personajes infantiles no normativos -ciertamente,
vampíricos-. Es decir, este mundo ficcional transmedia se construye a partir
de testimonios reales de eventos sobrenaturales datados en prensa británica y
estadounidense (Birmingham Mail o Daily Mail, por ejemplo) y programas
televisivos que implicarán a la audiencia incitando sus prácticas fandom como
fanfics. Éstos iniciarán una petición popular en la plataforma Kickstarter con
el fin de obtener beneficios económicos para poder llevar a cabo la producción
de la leyenda en la gran pantalla con The Haunting of Sushine Girl y The Black
Eyed Children (2009). En 2015 la película de Justin Synder Black Eyed
Children: Let me in y la novela gráfica Black-Eyed Kids (Aftershock, 2016) de
Joey Pruett y Szymon Kudranski también expandieron lo que planteamos
como una ficción transmedia desde esta leyenda urbana.
