How can small cities make an impact in a globalizing world dominated by ‘world cities’ and urban development strategies aimed at increasing agglomeration? This book addresses the challenges of ...smaller cities trying to put themselves on the map, attract resources and initiate development. Placemaking has become an important tool for driving urban development that is sensitive to the needs of communities. This volume examines the development of creative placemaking practices that can help to link small cities to external networks, stimulate collaboration and help them make the most of the opportunities presented by the knowledge economy. The authors argue that the adoption of more strategic, holistic placemaking strategies that engage all stakeholders can be a successful alternative to copying bigger places. Drawing on a range of examples from around the world, they analyse small city development strategies and identify key success factors. This book focuses on the case of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, a small Dutch city that used cultural programming to link itself to global networks and stimulate economic, cultural, social and creative development. It advocates the use of cultural programming strategies as a more flexible alternative to traditional top-down planning approaches and as a means of avoiding copying the big city. V prvem delu prispevka avtor analizira pojav režiserja in spremembe njegovega položaja v slovenskem gledališču od druge polovice 19. stoletja do danes. V tem kontekstu ga še posebej zanimajo premene ...gledališke režije, ki so se zgodile v drugi polovici 20. stoletja s pojavom skupinskega gledališča. Avtor metodološko kombinira zgodovinsko in primerjalno analizo, saj ti procesi potekajo še danes, ko se čedalje pogosteje govori in piše o »snovalnem gledališču« in drugih oblikah gledališkega ustvarjanja, ki se oddaljujejo od konvencionalnega postopka, po katerem dramatik napiše dramsko besedilo kot literarno umetnino, režiser pa jo prevede v gledališko umetnino. V sodobnem slovenskem gledališču je vse več predstav, kjer vnaprej napisano dramsko besedilo ni ključno za končni produkt ustvarjalnega procesa. Najpogosteje uporabljana izraza, ki označujeta to vrsto predstav, sta »po motivih« in »avtorski projekt«. Čeprav izraza nista sinonima in ju ni mogoče enačiti, oba implicirata tako imenovani »snovalni« tip gledališča. Avtor primerja skupinsko s snovalnim načinom ustvarjanja in opozori, da gre za praksi, ki sicer lahko potekata vzporedno, vendar ju ne moremo enačiti. Premislek o razmerju med skupinskim in snovalnim v sodobnem gledališču zgosti v ugotovitvi, da je za skupinsko gledališče konstitutivno specifično razmerje med ustvarjalno skupino in pozicijo režiserja, medtem ko je za snovalno gledališče ključno razmerje med ustvarjalno skupino in pozicijo dramatika. Na koncu se dotakne tudi povezav med postdramskim in postrežijskim gledališčem ter pojava ustvarjalne skupine kot kolektivne subjektivitete.
The second 'green skills' forum organised by Cedefop and the OECD-LEED in February 2014 provided an open space for discussion between researchers, policy-makers, social partners and international ...organisations on skills development and training needs for a greener economy. The focus of this second staging of the event was 'green skills and innovation for inclusive employment growth'. The discussions were aimed at identifying obstacles and challenges lying ahead for the development of skills, education and training policies suitable to address the transition to greener and job-rich growth: to set out strategies, initiatives and policy approaches tackling key skills issues for green growth; compare methods and tools used in monitoring and evaluating developments in labour markets; indicate how research can support better targeted policy-making and skills strategies; and identify gaps in knowledge and provide guidance for future research and collaboration for transitioning to a low-carbon economy. The first part of the book discusses the position of Slovenian émigré literature and its place in the framework of Slovenian national literature and culture. In the second part, the most significant ...immigrant writers in Slovenia are presented, and their position in the cultural context of Slovenia is analyzed. The third part comprises a broader examination of the immigrants’ position in Slovenia, their (cultural, socio-economic, political) integration, and the level of their equality regarding the status of their cultural-artistic activities and their affirmation in broader Slovenian society. The last part of the book opens a number of comparisons between the positions of Slovenian emigrants and the immigrants in Slovenia.The comparative analysis focuses on the factors influencing cultural life of the immigrant community as such. This is followed by a chapter on literary bilingualism among emigrant/immigrant writers. The concluding chapters continue to problematize the concept of a single “national language” as the demarcation line between national literatures. A theoretical concept of a “concentric paradigm of national literature” is introduced. The authors of the included foreword and review are Matjaž Hanžek and Aleš Debeljak.

V prispevku avtorica obravnava in s primeri ponazarja mednarodno prakso izobraževanja odraslih, ki z na videz nenavadnimi, inovativnimi pristopi animira in skozi prakso usposablja za demokratično ...državljanstvo skupine ljudi, sicer potisnjene ob rob družbenih dogajanj in odločanja. Gre za neformalno izobraževanje odraslih, ki z glasbo, likovno in besedno umetnostjo bogatijo proces medsebojnega učenja. Vse to spodbuja posameznikovo in skupinsko samozavest in pomaga razvijati kompetence, pomembne za aktivno in demokratično državljanstvo. Mednarodne konference, ki jih pogosto prvič pripravljajo tudi člani manjših organizacij in društev, na primer v okviru projektov Grundtvig, so za mnoge učna izkušnja in priložnost za promocijo ter spoznavanje »dobrih rešitev« za konkretne probleme izobraževanja odraslih. Z neposredno izkušnjo načrtovanja in sodelovanja v projektih se tudi na osnovi napak, problemov in konfliktov učijo sodelovati. Hkrati pa bogatijo medsebojne odnose in izgrajujejo prijateljstvo med izobraževalci, udeleženci in prostovoljci iz različnih evropskih držav.

Članek na primeru dvojezične pesnice Luize Pesjak problematizira pristop tradicionalne, nacionalno in lingvistično orientirane literarne zgodovine, ki je kot kultura naroda in literatura postala ...prostor konstituiranja narodne identitete, a pri tem večkrat pozabila na procese v književnosti, ki so bili kompleksnejši. Temu sledi umestitev dela nemškega književnega opusa Luize Pesjak v okvir slovenske literarne zgodovine kot komplementarnega pola njenega slovenskega pisanja. Umestitev je prestop v tradicionalni vedi prevladujočega jezikovnega kriterija in naglasitev književnih procesov, ki niso bili vedno nacionalno "čisti". Analiza in interpretacija pesmi opozarja na nekaj najbolj izstopajočih vsebinskih, motivno-tematskih in formalno-stilnih potez ter jim odmerja mesto v literarnem življenju.
Razprava je posvečena posebni funkciji "zaščitne listine", ki jo literatura dobi v ustvarjanju nekaterih avtorjev v Sovjetski zvezi. Avtor v opusu Osipa Mandelštama in Anne Ahmatove izpostavlja ...podobna izhodišča, ki oba književnika pripeljejo do dojemanja literarnega ustvarjanja kot osrednjega sredstva za osmišljanje lastne eksistence, ter nakaže skupne poteze tistih njunih literarnih del, ki jih avtorja zasnujeta kot poskus premagovanja krize biografije s pomočjo literature.
