This paper presents the development of an automatic control of retardant system and parking of wagons, where after unloading in the car dumper, passing through retarders and switches and crossings. ...The retarder system is a device installed on the rails, at the end of the ramp and is responsible for braking the wagons. Automatic control of braking and objectively determine the optimal speed to ensure that the engagement is smooth to the other wagons. Without this control, or if it fails, there may be a short stop before reaching the destination, or cause strong impact on engagement because of high speed, leading to possible breakdowns in couplers and wagons.
Damage of open-top wagon bodies in service is an urgent problem. In general, it is connected with breach of requirements to handling operations. This paper deals with modeling cargo block falling ...onto the underframe of a blind open-top wagon. The data obtained on stressed-deformed body underframe in the result of shocks are of local character for the body structure. Normal stress values in underframe beam cross-sections depend on the cargo block falling place: the maximum stress - if there is impact on longitudinal support beams and the minimum - if the is falling on the joint of intermediate and longitudinal beams. Steel dynamic yield stress is assumed as allowed stress values.

We have clarified the effect of potassium ion addition to TMAH solution on orientation dependence of etching rate in silicon anisotropic etching and etched surface roughness. Hemispherical specimen ...of single crystal silicon and wagon wheel pattern were used for experiments. The etching rate in direction decreases dramatically, etching rate in direction increases and surface roughness decreased with adding potassium ion in TMAH.

This portrait of Freiburg is structured in three chapters: The first and longest part is an extensive documentation of geographical, architectural and institutional landmarks of the city and especially the old town. The brief but impressive second part recalls the heavy bombardment in November 1944 with intertitles and footage of the burning city. The third and closing part raises the question, if and how the city is to be reconstructed and documents clearing work.
A better integration and interoperability between rail and road transportation is a key factor in order to reduce pollution and increase railway freight traffic. Development of special freight wagons ...like \“SAADKMS” for the transportation of trucks by railway is a successful solution that is meeting an increasing consensus and popularity among many European countries. In order to accelerate truck loading on wagons and reduce the limitation of normal clearance (structure/vehicle/loading gauges) it is necessary to reduce the wheel diameter as much as possible. This is not a drawback-free solution since an excessive reduction of wheel diameter involves many troubles concerning the stability of the vehicle, maximum axle load, wear of bearings and rolling surfaces of rails and axles. Also designing the braking system is very complicated because the reduced number of encumbrances available makes the placement of internal disks on the axles difficult. In order to solve these problems a very original solution concerning wheelset, wheel profiles and more general bogie design have been applied in the development of \“SAADKMS” freight wagons so the resulting vehicle is very different from the conventional one. As a matter of fact, many past experiences and know-how for conventional freight wagons are not applicable for this kind of application, so numerical simulations are very important to deeply understand the behaviour of the system and propose criteria for further optimization. The authors of this paper have developed models on commercial multibody software in order to simulate the behaviour of the \“SAADKMS” freight wagon in different conditions (stability, steering performances). Also important results such as position of the contact point or wear-number are shown to be useful parameters for further optimization of the rolling surface profiles.
While the performance of the past has a longer history that dates back to the tableaux vivants and the pageants of the 19th and early 20th centuries, this chapter argues that by the 1970s, ...re-enactment was on the rise as a strategy for engaging history; for evidence, many reenactments as part of Bicentennial. The end of the chapter focuses on the Bicentennial Wagon Train and the diverging experiences and expectations of planners, participants and audiences to show that re-enactment as a practice leads to many different forms of meaning making.
