Work Internship Placements (WIP) is a transversal programme of enterprise internships for the engineering students of UdG which is focused on quality improvement, academic control and satisfaction of ...collaborating enterprises. The fundamental WIP infrastructure is a web-based intranet platform that provides a complete set of WIP tools, procedures and tasks involved in all internships stages for every participating agent: enterprises, students, coaching professors and administrative staff. Our new programme is centered on a broader, more holistic internship placement procedure than the traditional "career and academic goals" approach. The WIP programme has been found to be a valuable asset in addressing enterprise and student needs in the experiential project.
Advances in the Internet technologies, specifically Web 2.0, have brought about richer Internet contents and applications. Although recent reports have shown increase of the Internet use by Thai ...citizens, Web-2.0-based websites in Thailand still do not keep pace very well that would permit full benefits of the technologies to be reaped. This paper presents the design and implementation of a Web 2.0 platform, Do in Thai Sense, as a proof of concept and as another viable option for Thai users and developers to coordinate their efforts and interests that could possibly result in a better utilization of the richness of Web 2.0 contents and applications. The Sense platform consists of REST and SOAP web services, Do in Thai markup and query languages, and the API framework. For developers, the Sense platform could potentially ease the development of rich Internet applications in the Do in Thai environment. For users, an online social network has been developed and deployed on the Do in Thai web system, and currently supports a virtual society as well as rich Internet contents that have been streamlined to promote an online learning society. Do in Thai Sense is currently able to support such rich Internet applications as Do in Thai Live, Brainstorming Board, and Reading for the Blind.
With the upsurge of the reform of special education courses, using modern educational technology to enhance the level of classroom teaching deaf students and comprehensive capacity of students, has ...increasingly become a hot issue in special education field. By a simple analyzing that Moodle based on the open source network teaching platform and the model of deaf group collaborative learning, author build a model of Moodle-based platform for collaborative learning for deaf students. To discuss how to build effective learning under this supporting environment through reasonable instructional design for deaf students, and to explore a new teaching mode that fit the characteristics of colleges and universities for deaf students, training deaf collaborative learning. This research provides guidance and reference for carrying out collaborative learning network in the special education teachers' college classroom.
Sensor nodes in ubiquitous sensor network (USN) environments are composed of many sensors and hardware components for various purposes and applications, such as service in the industrial field, the ...public administration sector, and in life services. A middleware is required for wireless sensors to treat a huge amount of information from sensor nodes. However, the use of a middleware and specialized application services could be a big obstacle for the portability of heterogeneous hardware, software platforms, and various methods of information consumption. These problems can be solved by providing an HTTP interface gateway based on a standardized web platform. The web is an open standard that can perform a connecting role for different types of equipment. This article proposes a sensor node middleware to support web-based applications over a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). We expend a WSN middleware to the web platform by providing an HTTP interface gateway. The gateway makes full duplex possible between sensor nodes and client modules. The processing results of sensor data are then presented to clients by using RIA. Our proposed middleware makes full use of the web platform's advantages and supports a wide range of various applications. The experimental results showed that the proposed middleware efficiently manages sensor nodes, and the response time for collecting sensor data is significantly reduced.
Social web platforms have become very popular in the so-called Web 2.0, and there is no end in sight. However, very few systematic models for the constitution of such socio-technical infrastructures ...exist in the scientific literature. We therefore present a generic framework for building social Web platforms based on the creation of value for individuals, communities and social networks. We applied this framework in the Neurovation project, aiming to establish a platform for creative knowledge workers. This paper describes work in progress and the lessons we have learned so far.

This chapter provides an overview on a web based knowledge management platform developed for the “Virtual Research Lab for a Knowledge Community in Production – Network of Excellence” (VRL-KCiP NoE). ...The platform accumulates all software tools developed by the NoE partners. This software representing expertise of the VRL-KCIP partners is made available to prospective clients of the VRL.
