The purpose of this paper is to examine the place of literary theory in Croatian Literaturwissenschaft, its role in literary studies (especially the study of Croatian literature), its contribution to ...the introduction of new research topics, as well as its encouragement of methodological innovations and critical self-reflection. Focusing on the discussion of Škreb, Stamać, and Biti, the discussion demonstrates that there is no “age of innocence” of literary theory and no harmonious complementarity with literary criticism and literary history. With this in mind and considering the international context, the well-known story of disciplinary crisis is unmasked as just another interpretation that can be questioned, and, in the domestic context, as a form of self-imposed oblivion and nostalgia without any real foundation.
Why did »equality« become prominent in European societies based on hierarchy during the Enlightenment? What does »equality« imply for societies, politics, or legal systems? The contributors to this ...volume draw on various historical case studies, from visionary practices in revolutionary France and the collection of data on the poor in 19th-century Germany, to claims raised under the minority regime of the League of Nations and the anti-discrimination politics of the UN and India. The dynamics of universalizing equality are contrasted with a concept asserting that equality must be limited to and by order. The contributions thus explore concepts of equality from the perspectives of history and law and show that practices of comparing were essential when it came to imagining others as equal, fighting discrimination, or scandalizing social inequalities.
The necessary relation of philosophy and poetry in Schellingʼs philosophy is most clearly visible in the way he attributes the aesthetic function to philosophy in his work System of transcendental ...idealism. For Schelling, poetry is what precedes science, which, in terms of the system of science, must in its circular motion return at its completion to what it came from. What leads science to the return to poetry can be found, according to Schelling, in nature and in the way that it is organised. The organisation in nature was in ancient philosophy portrayed through poetic expression in the form of stories. For Schelling, the mythological form is therefore the middle ground, which leads to the return of science to poetry.
There is a limited body of research in the field of healthcare improvement science (HIS). Quality improvement and 'change making' should become an intrinsic part of everyone's job, every day in all ...parts of the healthcare system. The lack of theoretical grounding may partly explain the minimal transfer of health research into health policy.
This article seeks to present the development of the definition for healthcare improvement science. A consensus method approach was adopted with a two-stage Delphi process, expert panel and consensus group techniques. A total of 18 participants were involved in the expert panel and consensus group, and 153 answers were analysed as a part of the Delphi survey. Participants were researchers, educators and healthcare professionals from Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Italy, England, Poland, and Romania.
A high level of consensus was achieved for the broad definition in the 2nd Delphi iteration (86%). The final definition was agreed on by the consensus group: 'Healthcare improvement science is the generation of knowledge to cultivate change and deliver person-centred care that is safe, effective, efficient, equitable and timely. It improves patient outcomes, health system performance and population health.'
The process of developing a consensus definition revealed different understandings of healthcare improvement science between the participants. Having a shared consensus definition of healthcare improvement science is an important step forward, bringing about a common understanding in order to advance the professional education and practice of healthcare improvement science.

For decades, we have been told we live in the "information age"-a
time when disruptive technological advancement has reshaped the
categories and social uses of knowledge and when quantitative
...assessment is increasingly privileged. Such methodologies and
concepts of information are usually considered the provenance of
the natural and social sciences, which present them as politically
and philosophically neutral. Yet the humanities should and do play
an important role in interpreting and critiquing the historical,
cultural, and conceptual nature of information. This book is one of
two companion volumes that explore theories and histories of
information from a humanistic perspective. They consider
information as a long-standing feature of social, cultural, and
conceptual management, a matter of social practice, and a
fundamental challenge for the humanities today. Bringing together
essays by prominent critics, Information: Keywords
highlights the humanistic nature of information practices and
concepts by thinking through key terms. It describes and
anticipates directions for how the humanities can contribute to our
understanding of information from a range of theoretical,
historical, and global perspectives. Together with Information:
A Reader , it sets forth a major humanistic vision of the
concept of information.
In the article the authors provide insights into the basic determinants of relatively young scientific disciplines – the cognitive science of religion and the evolutionary cognitive science of ...religion, which have become inevitable in attempting to pursue the scientific explanation of religion. The aim of the article is to provide a broader framework for understanding the possible future development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary dialogue between emerging disciplines and theological anthropology.
Intelligence failures have aroused the interest of the general scientific and professional public for the past eighty years and, according to certain estimates, are the most researched topic in the ...field of intelligence studies. The basic function of investigating intelligence failures is directed in particular towards improving intelligence activities, ie minimizing these failures as a whole. However, this area is characterized by the unavailability of primary data from the heart of the intelligence institution and direct insight into all phases of the intelligence process, which is controversial in the implementation of objective, impartial and cognitive scientific research. Despite the lack of primary data, scientists and experts in the field of intelligence studies use secondary sources that are the result of institutional investigations conducted by states after the occurrence of an intelligence failure. Therefore, this paper determines whether intelligence failures can be scientifically analysed, or whether these analyses have features of an expert analysis.
