  • Analysis and directions for sustainable development of tourism in the Mediterranean/Adriatic

    This paper discusses the need for sustainable development of tourism. The problem is defined from several viewpoints: competition between different activities, the changing role of Mediterranean ... tourism, and environmental acceptability. It emphasises the importance of analysing the existing situation in tourism, examining the possibilities and suggesting directions for sustainable development of tourism. Some questions which should be answered in the framework of a proposed project are also considered (inventarisation, comparisons, problems, prospects, international collaboration, ecology, competences), as well as some possible results of the study. Some facts about Slovenian coastal tourism and about tourism in the North-East Adriatic in general are presented.
