  • Durability testing of degraded biopolymer using the modified Locati method
Šeruga, Domen ; Nagode, Marko ; Klemenc, Jernej
Durability is one of the key features of the materials used in structural components. Usually, the durability is determined by standardised fatigue tests at controlled ambient conditions and constant ... loads, which then result in the scatter of the number of cycles to failure. However, the modified Locati method enables the determination of the durability for a target number of cycles to failure. If several specimens are tested, the scatter of the load for the observed number of cycles to failure can be established. Here, the modified Locati method has been applied to a degraded biopolymer material NatureFlexTM NVS which has been kept under five various storage conditions for a period of three months prior to the testing. The results suggest that dry and dark storage conditions provide the most favourable durability properties of the degraded material after the storage period.
