    Detection of subnanometer ultrasonic displacements is a review scientific work, which was prepared as a response to the invitation of prof. Sattler as a chapter in a monograph entitled Fundamentals ... of Picoscience, which is considered one of the first selected works in the field of picoscience. This extensive chapter of the book presents a general overview of the physical principles underlying the sensing of subnanometer ultrasonics displacement and sensors that exploit these principles. The work is accompanied by a comprehensive review of references, which directs the reader to a more detailed description of the selected methods of detection. The monograph, which contains elements of a textbook, is intended for both those who are new in this field of research and those who are interested in a general overview of the field, but can also serve as a guide for selecting appropriate detection methods for concrete technological problems. The book Fundamentals of Picoscience and its chapter Detection of subnanometer ultrasonic displacements is the first systematic courseware of the newly emerging field of picoscience by which the Slovenian Science is gaining respect in the international arena.
